Chapter 60 Steamdrift Gym Battle Part 3
Gloria is the final one to arrive at the battlefield against Gordie, the Rock-type gym leader. Gordie says, "Welcome, you're Raihan's sister, right?"
"So you know my brother?" Gloria asks.
"Yeah, we've been filming videos together for some time." Gordie says, "He is also one of my good friends. But just because he is your brother doesn't mean I'll hold back on you, after all, I have already disappointed a lot by losing two battles in a row."
"I'm sure your fans won't be disappointed by your loss, what matters is that you give it all you got." Gloria says.
Gordie's first Pokemon is Crustle, a Bug and Rock Type, so Gloria goes with Golisopod for the first Pokemon. Gloria says, "First Impression!"
The first attack immediately catches Crustle off guard, Gordie says, "It is not only a Water-type, but a Bug-type as well, Crustle! Use Rock Blast!"
Crustle shoots out a lot of rocks on Golisopod, and Golisopod escapes by using Agility. "Good, Golisopod, use Liquidation!"
"Shell Smash!" Gordie yells, and Crustle breaks out of the shell to dodge the attack, and it lands another Rock Blast, immediately forcing Golisopod to go with its ability: Emergency Exit.
Gloria sends out Copperajah, without the shell, it goes for a Heavy Slam, knocking it out of the battle. Ash sighs and says, "Using Shell Smash is a risk since it not only raises the Attack, Special Attack, and Speed Stat, it would also lower the Defense and Special Defense stat, and that's why Crustle is defeated that easily with the Heavy Slam."
"But Gordie is also giving it all, everyone is happy for him as well." Alice adds.
Gordie says, "I'm not going to lose right now, my next Pokemon is going to be Rhyperior!"
The second Pokemon appears on the field, and it goes for an Earthquake, dealing a lot of damage to Copperajah. "Copperajah! Use High Horsepower!"
Copperajah also deals with a Ground type attack, which damages Rhyperior. Rhyperior goes for Drill Run, defeating Copperajah in the end.
"I'm sorry, Copperajah, I was thinking about using Gigantamax in the last round..." Gloria frowns a little, and then she goes back with Golisopod, using First Impression again.
"First Impression is not really a first impression I see." Gordie says with a small smile, he can't believe the pressure on his relationship with his mother almost forgets the enjoyment of the battle. "Let's see if I can make this right! Rock Wrecker!"
Rhyperior shoots out the strong attack and slams Golisopod to the wall, knocking it out. "Looks like I'm careless!" Gloria gasps in shock as she recalls her Pokemon.
"Now you have one last Pokemon to use, I wonder what is it going to be." Gordie says.
"Let me show you! Ferrothorn!" As the final Pokemon appears, Rhyperior is still charging from the attack, and it is defeated by a Power Whip.
"Looks like you're saving your ace for last, but I'm the same as well!" Gordie says as he throws the final Pokemon. Much to Ash and the others' surprise, it is a Lycanroc, Dusk Form.
"A Dusk Form Lycanroc?" Ash and Lillie exclaim in shock, and the crowd is also cheering wild at the Lycanroc that they haven't seen before.
"How did he get his hands on that Pokemon?" Mark asks in shock.
At the stands, Melony widens her eyes to see Gordie having a Rock-type Pokemon that she has no idea about, to think he is so passionate about using Rock-type Pokemon to the extent of having a Pokemon that she has never seen before.
"I met Rockruff when I was visiting the Isle of Armor, and we see the Green Flash from the area and that's how we have this one." Gordie says.
"This is getting interesting." Gloria says with a nod.
"Now, Lycanroc, let's go with the Dynamax! Show your strength!" Gordie then Dynamaxing his Lycanroc, much to everyone's surprise. Ash has never Dynamaxed his Lycanroc before, and now he is excited.
Gloria is also doing the same as Dynamax Ferrothorn, going with the Max Steelspike, it raises the Defense and also damages the Pokemon.
"Let's show them our true power! Max Rockfall!" The giant rock slams into Ferrothorn, causing a massive Sandstorm.
"Sandstorm is not going to affect Ferrothorn because it is Steel Type. Max Overgrowth!" Gloria says.
And then both Pokemon exchange their attacks, with Max Darkness after Max Overgrowth, and after returning their size to normal, Lycanroc goes for Counter after Ferrothorn's Power Whip, but Ferrothorn is still on the field and it goes with Gyro Ball, finally knocking it out.
"Looks like I lost...but what a fun battle it is." Gordie says, unlike in the battle with Ash and Alice, Gordie is not having a sour face. "Thank you, for reminding me of how interesting battles are, no matter win or lose."
Gloria says, "I enjoyed it a lot as well. Thanks." Gloria says as they shake hands with each other. Gordie also hears the crowd cheering for him more wildly, and he is touched.
Back outside, Ash and the others notice Delia and Melony in the lobby. Melony is now looking at Gordie and says, "I saw your gym battle, and I can say you have grown a lot."
"Mom..." Gordie frowns a little.
"I was just worried about you, Gordie. You couldn't handle all the training that I've given you back in my gym, and I was wondering what will happen if you become a gym leader. But looking at it right now, I was thinking too much." Melony says.
"Mom, I was really sorry, you were trying to look out for me, but I just pushed you away." Gordie says with a frown, and both of them share a family hug.
Ash turns to Delia and asks, "Mom? What are you doing here? I thought you were helping Chairman Rose and Dad with something."
"I heard you're challenging Gordie, so I decided to have Melony watch the battle. And I'm right, you did a good job helping them get back together."
After the long talk with Gordie, Melony turns to Ash, Alice, and Gloria. "Since you have beaten my son, that means, you're coming to me next. I'm looking forward to our gym battle."
"Me too." Alice says as they bid farewell to the gym leader. Gordie says, "Ash, Alice, Gloria. I should warn you that my Mom is really strong, however, with your strength today, I'm sure you'll be able to beat her with no time."
The others nod as Delia adds, "To get to Circhester, you'll have to go through Steamdrift Way. And since you're there, I suggest you should try out the Hero's Bath. It is a famous hot spring in the area."
Mark says, "Hot spring in the snowing place, nothing is better than that."
The girls are getting excited at the thought, and then they bid farewell to Delia and Gordie.
While walking on the road, they also do some training and battling, Ash and Alice train their Hattrem and Morgrem, and they all evolve into their final forms.
"Now we have a Hatterene and a Grimmsnarl! Both of them are really cool!"
Hatterene: The Silent Pokemon: Psychic and Fairy type. Evolve from Hattrem at LV:42. If you're too loud around it, you risk being torn apart by the claws on its tentacle. This Pokémon is also known as the Forest Witch.
Grimmsnarl: The Bulk Up Pokemon: Dark and Fairy type. Evolve from Hattrem at LV:42. With the hair wrapped around its body helping to enhance its muscles, this Pokémon can overwhelm even Machamp.
"And it seems to learn a new move Spirit Break." Alice says to her Grimmsnarl. "A Fairy Type move, that is interesting."
"Yeah. And it seems all of them are capable of Gigantamaxing as well!" Ash smiles.
Trenor also manages to evolve his Riolu into Lucario after doing some training, and he is delighted to have a new evolution.
Dawn notices some small white bugs on the ground, and she asks, "Ash! Look at these!"
Ash and the others notice the Pokemon and Rotom says, "That is a Snom."
Snom: The Worm Pokemon: Bug and Ice Type. It eats snow that piles up on the ground. The more snow it eats, the bigger and more impressive the spikes on its back grow.
"So this is the Pokemon that evolved into Frosmoth...how do we evolve it?" Ash asks.
"That's simple, it evolves with happiness during the night, just like Umbreon!" Rotom says.
"I don't think that's simple..." Ash says, "But I think I want to try it out."
"Me too." Dawn says as both of them capture their own Snom.
Just then, they hear the bush shaking, and Serena asks, "What's that?"
And much to their surprise, the Pokemon jumps out from the bush and Ash says, "That's a Darumaka! But why is it pure white?"
"An Ice Type Darumaka? Wow..." Ash says.
Darumaka Galarian Form: The Zen Charm Pokemon: Ice Type. The colder they get, the more energetic they are. They freeze their breath to make snowballs, using them as ammo for playful snowball fights.
Just then, Darumaka jumps into Ash's backpack, and Ash says, "Hey, what are you doing?"
And much to everyone's shock, Darumaka takes the Ice Stone from the backpack and it starts to glow. Lillie says, "It evolves using Ice Stone?"
And then in front of them, is a Darmanitan with a giant snowball on the top of its head. "Is that a Darmanitan?"
Darmanitan: Galarian Form: The Zen Charm Pokemon: Ice Type. Evolve from Darumaka with Ice Stone. On days when blizzards blow through, it comes down to where people live. It stashes food in the snowball on its head, taking it home for later.
Rotom says, "This Darmanitan's ability is Zen Mode! But I would want to see a Gorilla Tactics one..."
"So we'll be able to see it transform into another form. But what are Gorilla Tactics?" Alice asks.
"It raises the Pokémon's Attack stat by one stage but locks the Pokémon into using the first attack it uses after being sent out" Rotom replies.
"That doesn't sound really good to use." Ash says, "Though I wonder what will happen if it goes into Zen Mode..."
Ash then captures the Pokemon in the end before entering Circhester.
Here is a new chapter, and as you can see, Gordie and his mother's relationship is a little better, and now they are going to Circhester for the 14th badge. I hope you like this chapter and the next chapter will be the date.
