Chapter Two

The three pokemon companions Laventon had with him stuck close by her on the trek back. She'd tried to set them down, but to no avail. Rowlett had fluttered to her shoulder without a moment's hesitation. The other two- she'd learned were called Cyndaquil and Oshawott, were carried in her arms. Neither of them seemed to relent, just as the Rowlett on her shoulder refused.

Laventon seemed amazed by the feat she'd accomplished, but she assumed he was overreacting. The creatures were sweet and affectionate. Surely them favoring her couldn't be that strange, right? Still, she glanced down at the two toted in her arms, eyeing them suspiciously. As if noticing her curiosity, Volo leaned over her shoulder that wasn't occupied by Rowlett, and she jumped slightly at his sudden closeness. She came to a halt, and he did as well to keep from walking into her.

"Seems like they don't want to be out of your grasp," he commented. Kagome furrowed her brows, a mild frown appearing on her face as she glanced back down at the two cradled against her chest.

"Is that really so unusual?" she asked, turning blue eyes up to clash against his gray ones. Honestly, she couldn't see how these creatures could behave so hostile. Sure, they possessed types of auras she'd never felt before- not even in demons, but… They were so docile.

He nodded, and she felt her confusion double. Maybe it was visible in her eyes, because the next second, his expression shifted to one of thought. "Perhaps there's something different about you that appeases and favors the calm."

Kagome frowned and shook her head. The implications made her uncomfortable. She turned on her heel and worked on catching back up with Laventon. He hadn't gotten too far ahead, either way. "Different, huh…?" He hummed in response, once more falling into pace with her. A second later, she forced a laugh and shook her head. "I'm not so special, really."

She said those words, but she knew, deep down, fate might think differently.

"Chosen one."

The echo of that voice rumbled through her head, and she nearly froze in her spot. She ignored it, but she could feel the way her expression darkened a shade. It seemed so ominous, even if it wasn't meant to be.

She didn't want to be anyone's chosen one. She wanted to go home.

"Really?" Volo responded with a faint laugh. "Because from where I'm looking, you seem to be quite special…"

Kagome lifted her gaze, leveling a glare on his face. He didn't seem bothered by it any, and he merely returned it with a smile she couldn't quite see through. She watched him silently for a few seconds, uncertainty flowing through her veins.

Something about him…

His outward kindness through her for a loop when it was matched by that uneasy feeling he awoke in her. She didn't understand why she felt as if there was something more to him when he didn't seem to be anything more than a helpful, friendly figure.

Kagome resisted the urge to shake her head to clear her thoughts, and she merely pushed them all to the back for the time being. Of course, she'd feel uneasy…! She'd just gotten transported to another world by a figure who decided she was some chosen one! Considering her last one was chock-full of demons, being forced into a place where things didn't seem to want to kill her at first glance as first nature felt so unfamiliar at this point!

She silently berated herself for her silly actions, sighing softly a second later.

It really didn't help that the jewel had been impacted so heavily. What if that prevented her from being able to go home? She knew the Shikon no Tama had been what allowed her to go through the well in the first place, so, if it was no longer the same, would that keep her trapped here…?

"We've arrived!"

Kagome practically jumped upon hearing Laventon's voice, and she picked her head up to look at the place she'd been brought to. At once, she was struck with a vague sense of familiarity. Sure, while it wasn't identical to anything she knew, she was definitely reminded of the villages from the Feudal Era. A small smile appeared on her face.

At least things weren't completely different from her journeys. This time, maybe she wasn't going to go in looking so strange, either…!

She'd stopped weaning her school uniforms a while ago, and whenever she was set to go into the past, she'd always choose something more practical to wear. She was dressed in traditional miko garb, with a slight change in the colorings. Black bottoms and a green top, although… she was missing her sandals. They'd most likely gotten lost in the water. At the thought, she was reminded of the water that still clung to her clothing. It was still drying at a slow pace, and she was able to feel the fabric clinging to her skin in some places. Uncomfortable, but not entirely unbearable.

"Come now, stick close to me," Laventon said, and Kagome nodded before rushing along to catch up with him. He'd spoken briefly to the guard at the gate before she'd fully caught up, and she fell into pace behind him as he led her along.

Walking along the streets, it felt so familiar to her, but she knew she'd never been here before. Cocking her head to the side, she glanced up to meet his stare.

"Where are you taking me?" she finally asked the question that'd entered her mind a while back. He responded with a grin.

"I'm sure Captian Cyllene would be interested in meeting you," he stated. Kagome blinked in mild confusion at the unfamiliar name. Laventon was keen to notice, and he turned to motion to a large building at the heart of the village. "She's the leader of the Survey Corps, and I'm certain she'd easily find a place for you among their ranks, given this little talent of yours!"

Kagome was suddenly nervous, and she shook her head. "I-I'm not sure it's any sort of talent," she said. Just because these three were drawn to her didn't mean others would be! "I-I mean, how can you be sure?"

Laventon glanced back at her and brushed off her concern with a smile. "No need to be so nervous, my girl!" They came to a halt outside the building, and he turned to face her for a moment. "I just need you to wait here, alright?" he commented as he started climbing the small staircase that lead to the doors. "I'll be out to get you in just a moment."

"I… Okay," Kagome eventually relented with a sigh. Laventon vanished inside the building, leaving her waiting outside. Even though, she wasn't waiting on her own. Kagome turned, her eyes landing on Volo once more. She could feel the weight of many stares fixed on her, but, whenever she turned to look, no one was watching her.

Sure, she didn't look as strange as she could've, but she was still an outsider. Of course, they'd regard her curiously.

"My, nervous all of a sudden?" Volo asked, and Kagome puffed her cheeks out in a pout.

"It's not that," she denied. "I just…-" she sighed and shook her head. She didn't get to say another word before Laventon reappeared, and she was stunned. True to his word, he hadn't been more than a moment!

"All right, are you ready?" he asked, and Kagome glanced down at the creatures all draped over her. She reluctantly set them down on the ground, much to their displeasure and she nodded as she turned to face him.

"I believe so," she stated.

As she fell into pace behind Laventon, she wasn't aware of the three trotting along behind her in a line. They'd made it through before the door could close.

Auroua-chan: I'll end this one here! The three starters really like Kagome.

Love the thought of Volo's Togepi being like the evil one from the anime. At the same time, it'd be funny if Kagome ended up with one like that- she'd be the only safe one around with it.

Kagome might start off with the Survey corps, of others will definitely try to pull her to their favor when she shows off what all she can do. She'll also become a favorite around the village in no time.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
