Santiago went to find some food, he snatched berries from a branch and then arrived at his family's hollow. Carolina was strangling to lay an egg. "You're eggnant!" he said with joy. Lucas the oldest brother sighed "Not again!" Santiago tried to comfort him "what do you mean not again don't you want another sister?" Carolina tried to comfort him too "Or brother." I want a sister!" Beatriz complained. Santiago, "But if you get a little brother you might get along better." Carolina stepped in. Maybe he's right younger brothers might be nicer."
Carolina every three minutes laid three eggs one by one. "Don't worry, incubation will start now and he or she or multiple will hatch." Santiago comforted his mate. About 22 days later one egg was about to hatch. "Oh it's coming I'm so Excited" she was psyched. Then the egg cracked. "It's a boy!" Santiago said with joy. However Lucas dumped the two other eggs out of the nest. Santiago was mad "Lucas! What have I told you about egg dropping!?"
Carolina spoke up. "Oh well they were infertile anyways, and the last two clutches we had only had two eggs." "What should we name him?" Carolina asked Santiago. "Euegino after my long deceased father." he answered. "He looks sleepy is this normal?" Beatriz said a little worried. "Sometimes." Carolina said. New Hatchlings are usually sleepy after they get out of the egg, you probably don't remember when you were a hatchling.
"No I don't." Beatriz said Carolina then sang a lullaby song to Eugeino, which made Lucas roll his eyes. A couple of days later, Santiago was excited but worried about today. Eugenio (later named Blu by Linda) was so young and he did not know how to fly yet! Plus there were a lot of smugglers in the jungle every year!
"He's only 2 days old, are you sure he will be fine on his own?" Santiago asked with worry. Carolina was overconfident "He'll be fine! The family was enjoying spending Carnival on the highest trees away from the smugglers. "Oh wow I love these berries! Hey! check out my berry necklace!"
"Maybe we should bring some berries back to our hatchling so he does not get hungry." "Let's go!" Carolina just could not wait to feed her new son again. Although Lucas sighed. When they flew to the nest he was nowhere to be seen! "Oh no! He's not in the nest!" But Santiago did not want to give up hope "Let's check the ground." They checked the ground and he was nowhere to be seen. Carolina started sobbing. "He's gone!" Santiago, Carolina, and Beatriz started to cry. But little did Carolina and Beatriz know, they would find him a long time from now.
