Her first day of school arrived and it was nothing special. Due to her constant moving she has switched schools more often than she could count. She was used to being the new kid and always sticking to herself. That was until she met Aisha on her lunch break. That girl managed to make Sasha break all her rules she so carefully crafted from experience. The most important one being to trust no one and leave them be. If nobody notices her, then no one can make fun of her. And it is so much easier to disappear when there are no people needing a farewell.
But this quiet and shy girl reminded her so much of someone she knew a long time ago that she just had to go talk to her. When Halloween came around she even managed to convince Sasha to go to the school party. But not only that but she also made her wear a costume. So not only was Sasha on an event she hated, but she was also dressed to represent a chemical compound. Aisha was Sodium and Sasha Chloride. Together they made Table Salt. She must admit, it was smart. Still didn't mean that she liked being there. But like everything else, the evening went over and she actually had a decent time.
So the next day she tattooed a tiny salt shaker on her ankle.
She heard about the rumble the other new guy had with the popular kids at the party. What a noob for attacking without thinking about the consequences. And she could not believe that Aisha actually wanted to join his dojo. But hey, it couldn't hurt for her to learn some defence strategies. She got bullied so much that a little confidence couldn't hurt. But that didn't mean Sasha had to join. She had enough workouts with her Yoga and Skateboarding. Everyday before school she goes out to move for a while and after school she organised Rico's schedule and art supplies. There wouldn't be any time for her to join a Dojo.
Her opinion got a little better after she saw Miguel beating down those bullies in the cafeteria. She still didn't want to join but Aisha convinced her to at least look at it for one lesson.
So it happened that she stood in the Cobra Kai Dojo, wearing her favorite workout gear and her newest tattoo, a dainty line work underneath her boobs, on full display.
That was the first time she saw him. Like really saw him. Eli Moskowitz. Of course she knew him. Had seen him in school countless times, but when he stepped into the Dojo, having his hair dyed blue and styled up into the most impressive Mohawk she ever saw, was when she really noticed him. She realized she stopped taming her wild curls while staring at him from across the room. When Sensei Lawrence began to talk, she was finally able to collect herself and finish putting her blonde hair in a messy bun.
She was so distracted by the new look that she didn't even realize the similarities the Sensei had with her few memories of the past. Hawk. That was a nice name. The little smile and appreciative look he gave her, right before he fell-in right in front of her, made her heart skip a beat. Right after, Sensei Lawrence started screaming at them. Something about Fear and pain not existing in this Dojo. That impressed her, as she had to learn these lessons the hard way. When the Sensei asked who never got punched in the face, he looked at her questionably when she didn't raise her hand. Sasha had a hard life so far. The creep father in her last foster family was harmless against the physical abuse she had to endure in her first group home after she got separated from Robbie. These girls bullied and beat her until she thought she couldn't take it anymore. But it just made her stronger. So when Aisha was appointed to hit everybody, she took the beating without a single flinch. Even after her nose started bleeding.
She spent the rest of the lesson actually liking the aggression, the repetitive drills and strength exercises all while staring at the blue haired boy in front of her. When it came to her first practice fight against Miguel, she was able to impress the Sensei and fellow students with her quick reflexes and flexibility. When she escaped an oncoming attack by going into a split and getting back up with a back arch, the whole Dojo started clapping in respect.
"Now, if you can manage to do that while also kicking your opponent in the face, then you are a perfect fighter. Defence isn't everything. You must learn to strike hard and fast. And especially strike first. Am I right, students?"
"Yes, Sensei!"
After Sensei Lawrence ended the lesson, Sasha put on a Hoodie and talked to Aisha.
"Yo, girl. That was amazing! I didn't know you could move like this! What? Where? How?"
"It's nothing. I just like doing Yoga. That's it."
A male voice interrupted. "Oh, don't be coy. You really kicked ass out there. Glad you are here to train with us, Sasha."
"Thanks Miguel. You're not so bad yourself!"
Sasha saw the young boy become flustered and couldn't suppress a smile.
"What'ch a doing, already flirting with the new girl, Miggy. Hey, I'm Hawk."
She took his offered hand and shook it, while Miguel and Aisha said their goodbyes and already went outside.
"Sasha. Nice hair, btw."
"Nice tattoos. Where did you get them? It's not easy to find someone to do work on a minor."
"Well, I had luck and found someone who is even teaching me to do it myself."
"That's so cool! Well, I'll see you next practice."
"See ya."
