'Where...am I...?' thought Batman as he began to observe his surrounding and could clearly see that the forest he was in right now was not the forest he was in a moment ago.
The abandoned building was nowhere to be seen as there was clearly no proof that the building where Killer Croc threw a tube of magic on to some residual magic onto said building a moment ago ever existed.
'That magic potion that Constantine gave me must have mixed with the magic that was residing through that wall, both must have combined and took me to somekind of alternate dimension. One that appears to be based on magic and mysticism.'observed Batman as his mind began to workout all the clues that have so far been shown through the last hour.
One: His daughter's last confirmed scene was an abandoned building not too far from where his former lover lived.
Two: His daughter was obsessed with fantasy and magic.
Three: Somehow the magic potion managed to activate the magic from the wall.
Cour: Constantine told him it was a enhancing potion
Meaning that when the potion mixed with the magic in the wall it reactivated it, causing a portal to open! Meaning that the magic that was residing through the wall was portal magic, and that the portal led to this very place where he was currently at!
Meaning Luz was here as well!
That is the only explanation that makes any sense. Something must have come through the portal that allowed itself to change into Luz and that is why Camila didn't suspect a thing. Meaning she must have been here the whole time!' thought Batman as he looked around this fantasy world and saw it would certainly be the kind of place his daughter would be interested in based on her psych profile!
"She has been here the whole time, but how?"wondered Batman as he saw what look like a nearby settlement and decided to go over there to investigate.
But around halfway as he got to the settlement suddenly several people wearing robes including one large Cyclops like creature approached him with swords and spears!
"Now how about you just hand over your snails and anything else you have of value big guy and we don't end up hurting you too badly."said the Cyclops as Batman placed his hand on his utility belt.
He quickly grabbed one the smoke grenades and tossed it onto the floor, causing a huge puff of smoke to surround him and everyone else within range!
The bandits were coughing like crazy as the smoke cleared up and they didn't see Batman anywhere!
"Where did he go?!
"He was just here!"
"Who cares find him!"yelled the Cyclops before he noticed that his companions were staring at him.
"What?!"asked the Cyclops as his companions started pointing their fingers at him.
"Boss... he's standing right behind you."said one of the bandits as the Cyclops turned around only to get struck across the face with a left hook!
As the Cyclops staggered back the female companion of the bandits rushed towards Batman with her spear at the ready! But Batman side stepped out of the way before grabbing the spear in the middle and hoisting the female bandit in mid-air with her spear before slamming her to the ground.
Batman said nothing as he broke the sharp end of the spear and started whirling the large stick around like a Bo staff!
"Ahhhh!"said the chubby bandit as charge that Batman with a sword.
As he swung his sword Batman intercepted it with the, causing the sword to be knocked out of his hand as Batman went for a one-two punch on the chubby bandits sternum and jaw!
The chubby bandit fell to the floor completely out cold as the banded with the pointy ears started to sweat profusely as Batman calmly walk towards him, before he screamed like a little girl and ran away as fast as he could!
"What are you?"asked the Cyclops who was regaining consciousness as Batman walked in front of him and stood tall before him.
"Your worst nightmare!"said Batman before he delivered a straight right punch into the cyclops's jaw!
The Cyclops was knocked out instantly as he felt to the floor as the female bandit tried to attack Batman from behind, only to get tased by his taser for her trouble!
As the female bandit lied on the floor unconscious as Batman just calmly continued walking towards the settlement that said Bonesborough on a nearby sign.
The chubby bandit regained consciousness and was about to attack Batman before Batman turned around and delivered a full swing turning kick on the bandit's face! Said bandit flew a few feet in the air before landing on his head and once again was knocked out cold!
Batman then just calmly walked back towards the bandits and for good measure decided that it was best to tie them up and take anything that seems valuable like the currency of this world and anything else that could be useful.
"Hmph."was all Batman said as he walked into Bonesborough a few minutes later without anyone else trying to steal from him.
As Batman was walking around he noticed that a bunch of the residents were giving him strange looks. He saw that many were turning their gaze or straight out avoiding him with some little kids even going so far as to cross the street as far as they could away from him.
'I never imagined that people in a fantasy world would be superstitious.' thought Batman as he had to admit to himself that his outfit was quite intimidating as that's what it was designed for.
He also wasn't used to this kind of attention as he was used to working in the shadows, away from the public eye but considering he was another world and they didn't appear to be another human in sight, add to the fact that this was a desperate situation he didn't prioritize staying in the shadows for this case!
'I need to find information. If this world is anything like my world there is one surefire place where one can find information for the right price.' thought Batman as he arrived at the number one information network in any city or civilization.
The local tavern!
Batman calmly walked into the tavern as he noticed that the lesson reputable customers were staring at him and whispering among one another, but it didn't appear that any of them had the stones to go up to him as some of them even changed tables if Batman passed them.
"Your a new face."said the bar keep as he was wiping a glass clean with a rag.
"I'm from out of town on business."calmly said Batman as he threw a bag full of snails onto the bar table.
"What will it be then?"asked the bar keep as he ready to prepare a drink.
"I'm not here to drink. I'm here for information."said Batman as he calmly sat down.
"Depends on the kind of information you're asking."said the bar keep as he looked at his crossbow underneath the table for in case things got rowdy in his tavern.
"I'm looking for a human girl. She's about 5 ft 8, fourteen years old, light brown skin, short dark brown hair, and light brown eyes."said Batman as he tossed Luz's photo onto the bar table.
"Yeah I've seen her around. She usually hangs out with one of my regulars known as Edalyn Clawthorne, although most people call her Eda or the Owl Lady."said the bar keep as Batman tossed a few more snails onto the table.
"Tell me about her?"asked Batman as he wanted to know more about this Eda the Owl Lady.
"She's the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles, not to mention the most wanted criminal, but not even the Emperor's Coven can arrest her, but that's mostly because of the house demon that protects her house that's just on the outskirts of Bonesborough, everyone just calls it the Owl House."responded to bar keep as Batman threw more snails onto the table.
"What's her relationship with this human?"asked Batman who was wording his questions carefully.
"She found her one day when she was bringing back human junk to sell at the market. I think Eda told me that the girl's name is Luz and that she's her apprentice. I've seen them in the market a few times when I was going there to buy goods. That human girl follows Eda around all the time." answered the bar keep as Batman let out a sigh of relief at the knowledge that Luz was okay and that she apparently wasn't a prisoner to this Eda the Owl Lady.
"Anything else you might add that might be important."said Batman as he threw a few more snails onto the table.
"She has a pet who self-proclaims himself the king of demons, his name is King and I'm not sure what kind of demon he is but he's easily recognizable by the red collar around his neck. I've also heard that that human girl has recently started attending Hexside School of Magic and Demonics, that's the local school where the kids learn how to properly use magic."said the bar keep as Batman tossed a few more snails onto the table.
"Anything else?"he asked as he knew that information brokers always held out to see if they can get a bigger payday from their information.
"The girl is usually with Eda or with some kids from the school known as Gus and Willow, or sometimes with the youngest member of the Blight family, Amity Blight. The kid known as Gus specializes in illusion magic while Willow specializes with plant magic, Amity specializes in abomination magic. Eda on the other hand specializes in all kinds of magic, making her quite formidable. Her house demon Hooty may be an idiot but he's quite powerful as well as he can easily take on multiple opponents at once with his worm like body."said the barkeep who had no problem giving away this information as he slid the snails into his pocket.
"Thank you."said Batman is he got up from his chair and turned around to leave.
"Not that it's any of my business but what exactly do you want with this human girl?"asked the bar keep as he was curious.
"I've been...paid to find her, I won't tell you who as you probably know that's a very bad idea to disclose the identity of my client."said Batman who decided to pretend that he was a Merc for hire.
"A Merc huh? I see you guys every now and again here in my tavern. But you definitely have a point, it's not any of my business and I probably don't want to know who hired you for my own sake... don't want to have to grow eyes in the back of my head."said the barkeep has the less he knew the better as he knew how the underworld worked and how to survive in it.
"Good."said Batman as he knew no matter what kind of world, the name of the game of the underworld was set in stone!
As information brokers know that the less information they know about dangerous people, the better!
Batman just calmly walked out of the tavern as a few customers realized that they were missing their money, they failed to realize that as Batman passed them he had taken their money as he began walking to a place that would sell something like a map to tell him where Hexside was or the very least where the Owl House was located.
Seemingly unknown to Batman, a small dog like demon with a horn skull for a head and was wearing a red dog collar had heard everything.
He was King, Eda's housemate who was also Luz's friend who happened to be walking towards the tavern at the time to collect Eda's Apple blood from the barkeep as it was her favorite drink when he overheard everything.
"Oh no! Someone hired a mercenary to capture Luz! I have to go find Eda and warn her. Maybe I should go see Luz first...no Eda is the better option that she'll know what to do, and besides Luz might be with her today so Eda is definitely the better option."said King with worry as he began moving his little legs as fast as he could back to the market to warn Eda about this mercenary!
But unknown to King, Batman knew he was there the whole time he secretly did a full circle around the tavern and shot a mini tracking/ listening device onto King's dog collar from his gauntlet.
"Now take me to Luz,"said Batman as he activated his grappling hook and launched himself onto the rooftops of the tavern as he began following King from the rooftops.
[Hexside school of Magic and Demonics]
Meanwhile at Hexside, every student was getting ready for Grom. Many we're using elaborate measures to ask out their dates as one male student faked a heart attack in order to ask his crush out to the Grom dance.
"Wow you guys have a weird version of prom here on the Boiling Isle's, I was kicked out of my last school dance for dressing like an otter but maybe here I could be your Grom Queen."said Luz with excitement as her friends Willow and Gus weren't so sure that she would want to be Grom Queen.
"That's not a good idea."said Willow as Luz noticed that Gus was holding a newspaper
"Wow is that the latest story on Batman."said Luz as just handed a newspaper over so Luz could read it.
"Wow Luz I never thought you would be a fan."said Gus as he was honestly surprised.
"Are you kidding me?! Batman is literally my favorite superhero of all time! He just uses his wits and fists to defeat enemies much more powerful than like Bane or Clayface! You know my mom is originally from Gotham"said Luz as Gus and Willow couldn't believe it.
"Wow, did you ever meet Batman?"asked Gus with excitement.
"No as my mom left Gotham before I was even born. She told me that she and my dad couldn't come to any agreement so she decided to leave Gotham for our sake and his sake."said Luz as Gus started rubbing his arm nervously as Willow had a cringe look on her face.
"Luz I didn't mean to bring up any painful memories."said Gus who had no idea Luz didn't have a relationship with her father
"Oh don't worry guys my mom told me when I was old enough that she and my dad couldn't see eye to eye and that's why she left. I personally want to meet him but my mom still hasn't told me his name, she wants me to be a little older before she decides to tell me my father's identity and allows me to meet him. I'm honestly looking forward to it and I am sad of times that I don't know who my dad is but my mom more than made up for it so that's all that matters."said Luz who has long accepted that her father wasn't in her life.
"Wow that's really mature of you Luz."said Willow as she never expected to say those words out of her mouth.
"Yeah and it's hard for me but I don't press the subject with my mom as I can tell she's clearly still in love with him. I hope to meet Batman and my father one day as when I'm a little bit bigger and more mature I plan to go to Gotham to try to find my dad myself."said Luz as she noticed that Amity didn't appear to be in a good mood.
She look distract like a bombshell of information was unloaded on her and Luz wanted to know what was causing her recent friend so much grief.
Meanwhile King was making his way to the market as fast as possible as Batman continued following him without the self-proclaimed king of demon's knowledge!
