'There she is.' thought Batman as he observed his daughter, wearing what looks like a school uniform for this magical realm returning to the Owl House.
'So that's my daughter...' thought Bruce as he couldn't believe that his own flesh and blood was right there in front of him just a few meters away from where he currently was.
So close and yet so far as what could he even say to her? Hey I'm Bruce Wayne and I happen to be your biological father...That would never work in a million years it says how could he explain why he hasn't been there for the past fourteen years of her life.
He was in no position to be a father! He was a mentor and Father figure to many students but how exactly could he nurture someone away from the life he has chosen to live! The mission has always been his top priority and now his own innocent flesh and blood was it right there in front of him, and now he wondered if she was even safe as there was no way Killer Croc and who knows else was in Gravesfield was anything but a coincidence!
Was Luz in danger because he was her biological father?! He had to find out what was going on and why all his villains were in Gravesfield Connecticut! Only through a proper investigation what he find out if his daughter and his former lover are safe or not!
Meanwhile Luz entered the Owl House, completely oblivious to the fact that someone was watching her.
"I'm home..."said Luz cheerfully before hearing Eda say ow?
"Guys?"asked Luz as she noticed Eda was wearing a dark brown tuxedo and King was wearing a green apron.
"Careful with those pins!"said Eda as she wasn't a pin cushion.
"Why am I doing this! I don't even wear clothes."said King when he was ironically wearing an apron.
"Hey sweet duds Owl Lady, what's the haps?"asked Luz as King ran over and hug her.
"Oh Luz I'm so glad you're okay!"said King as Luz was confused by King's sudden affection.
"What is going on? I mean I love hugs from King anytime but seriously, what's going on?"asked Luz as she wondered why King was being so affectionate and happy to see her.
"Luz there's no easy way to say this but someone is hired a mercenary to track you down."said Eda as Luz appeared to be shocked!
"What?!"
"Yeah he was covered head to tow an armor and was looking for you, even going to the local tavern for information."added King.
"But why?"asked Luz as she wondered why a mercenary was after her.
"Well you are the only human in the Boiling Isles, so... it's not too far fetched that you're rare so to say."said Eda as she knew several people who love collecting creatures, they were on the shady end of society.
"Oh man I don't have time to deal with this! I have to deal with everything that has to do with Grom so I already have a lot on my plate already!"said Luz as dealing with a mercenary was the last thing she wanted to deal with.
"Don't worry kid, as long as I'm around nothing's going to happen to any hair on your head. Hooty has already been ordered to keep on guard for anyone covered in armor and Principle Bump has already been alerted to the situation so as far as here and school are concerned you're safe."said Eda as Luz let out a sigh of relief.
"Well that's a lot of weight off my shoulders. I guess I better be careful until we find out more about who hired this mercenary."said Luz before looking at Eda again.
"So what's with the tuxedo?"
"I'm chaperoning Grom tonight so I have to look sharp. Also with this mercenary out and about it's best that I keep close to you until we find out more of what is going on."said Eda either she swiped her hand through her hair.
"And Gus asked me to co MC for the fight. We're going to turn this blood bath into a fun bath."said King as he pulled out a poster of him and Gus wearing sunglasses that said Grom with your Grommentators.
"Ooh have the announced the victim yet?"asked Eda as she wondered who would be Grom Queen this year.
"Yeah it's Amity. She's kind of freaking out though. I wish I could like take her place or something."said Luz as she wanted to help out her newly acquired friend anyway she can.
Eda and King just laughed at that as Luz wondered why they were laughing.
"A great joke Luz."said King before he began laughing again.
"Oh listen kid, that's a noble sentiment, but Grom is a little above your pay grade. You're a human, you're fragile."said Eda as Luz was it blushing with embarrassment and fury!
"Hey I've been learning lots of new spells! I can totally handle it. And just because I'm a human doesn't mean I'm fragile as there's plenty of powerful human warriors in the human world so I can definitely handle it!"said Luz in her and humanity's defense.
"There's a horrifying spider in your hair."said Eda but Luz didn't believe her.
"Nope, I'm not as fragile as you think Eda. And I can't be so easily fooled either, hrmph!"said Luz, not realizing that Eda was telling the truth as there was a spider in her hair.
Luz slam the door and she decided to go outside in the safety of Hooty's range in order to cool off!
"Um, maybe you were too hard on her. She's saved you from multiple monsters remember?"said King in Luz's defense.
"Facing Grom means facing your worst fear King, and I don't think Luz knows what that means yet. Besides with this mercenary business we found ourselves in we can't be too careful."said Eda has she looked herself in the mirror.
"Do you think I could pull off red eyeshadow?"asked Eda wondering if she could pull the eyeshadow off.
"Girl you can pull off anything off top. We're style geniuses."said King has he figured that Eda could totally pull it off.
Meanwhile Luz was walking through the woods close to the Owl House not realizing that Batman was behind her and listening to everything she was saying.
"Fragile"! Eda doesn't know me! I'm brave! I'm a bad boy! Besides just because I'm human doesn't mean I'm weak as there are plenty of strong humans like Batman, Green Arrow, Lady Shiva, Peacemaker, Katana, Bloodsport, Harley Quinn and so many others!"said Luz before I sound freaked out and caused her to hold the stick she was using head bushes with in a defensive position.
"Ominous footsteps, creepy woods. This is no problem...Luz chop!"exclaimed Luz and she ran towards what was making that sound and struck said individual with her stick.
Only to see a moment later that the person making that sound was Amity as soon as she activated a light glyph!
"Oh my gosh Amity! I'm so sorry!"said Luz and she tried to to help Amity get up from the mud she landed in.
"And here I thought this day couldn't get any worse."said Amity and she already had enough problems without being jumped by one of her friends!
Luz managed to help Amity get up before Amity sat down on a nearby tree stump as she was extremely bummed..Luz meanwhile decided to sit on the floor.
"Di you talk to Bump? Was it as terrifying as you imagined?"asked Luz as she wondered if Amity managed to get out of being Grom Queen.
"He said no."said Amity with a sigh.
"I'm Grom Queen unless I can find a replacement. And who'd want to switch with me?"asked Amity to herself as she really did not want to face her worst fear.
Luz thought deeply for a moment before she decided to speak up.
"I would."answered Luz to Amity's question.
Batman meanwhile slept himself over his face as he couldn't believe Luz had inherited the Wayne's bravery and recklessness!
'Great... I'm going to have to help her out with this.' thought Batman as he continued listening in.
"What?"asked Amity as she did a double take.
"Amity Blight, I'll do it. I'll take your place and face Grom in the arena. I'll be your fearless champion."said Luz before the spider crawled on her face and she completely began to freak out!
Amity wondered what she could do as she looked around to see if she could find anything to help to get the spider off as Batman use that moment to throw a batarang to get the spider off his daughter!
The spider was knocked off and ran off into a nearby bush as the batarang returned to Batman, with both teenage girls completely oblivious to his help.
"Brave champion!"said Luz, hoping to save face.
