Hey, look I'm alive... and back to publishing.
This story idea has been sitting in a file for months and I eventually got in the mood to write it. It was inspired by a video I saw on FB.
Prompt: Come dressed as your spouse/partner party.
Chapter 1
Hector POV:
I inserted my key into the lock and opened the door. The smell of Ropa Veija floated from the kitchen. I felt the tension start to loosen in my shoulders, just by being home. This was the only place I could relax and let my guard down, knowing I was safe.
"Cesar, I'm home!" I called from the door as I hung my jacket on the rack by the door.
"Come join me in the kitchen," he called back.
I walked in and smiled, watching him in front of the stove. He loved to cook. Lawyer by day, and chef by night. He turned as I wrapped my arm around him, pulling him close to kiss him hello.
He smiled into the kiss, wrapping his arms around my waist. He sighed and pulled back. "How was work?" he asked. I smiled, kissing him softly before walking over to the fridge.
"We've been invited to a party," I said, reaching into the fridge to pull out a beer.
"Ohhh a party." He smiled.
"Who's throwing it?"
"Lester," I said, taking a pull from my beer.
"Oh?"
"And it's a costume party."
"It's February." He frowned.
"The theme is dress up like your spouse."
I watched as a slow smile spread over his face. "Why exactly is he throwing a themed party?" he asked.
"Because he's Lester." I shrugged. He chuckled.
"So, are we going?"
"Do you want to go?" I countered.
"When do I not want to go to a party?" He grinned.
"Then I guess I'm going to have to borrow a suit." I smiled. He grinned, walking over and kissing me. I wrapped my arms around his waist, and he leaned down to kiss me.
"Luckily, we wear the same size." He smiled.
I watched him go back to the stove, and I smiled. I knew I was a lucky bastard. Cesar was the light to my darkness. I hadn't been looking for love when we found each other but he managed to worm his way into my heart, cracking the cold steel exterior as he carved out a home for himself.
For months I had pushed him away, because I didn't think I deserved him. One day I found myself not able to resist him anymore. That was two years ago, and these past two years had been the happiest of my life. Cesar had done that.
The night of the party, I got off work, walked into our apartment, and froze in the foyer. Cesar stood in the living room, already dressed for the party. He wore baggy jeans with a pair of boxers hanging out. A flat bill cap on his head, and he wore a white tank top, with a flannel shirt thrown over only buttoned at the top button.
Cesar locked eyes with me, and I grinned. "Damn you look good."
He laughed. "Go get dressed," he commanded. I walked over and grabbed the back of his neck. I pulled him in for a kiss and I sighed when I pulled away.
"Give me ten minutes."
I walked into our bedroom, finding a suit he had left on the back of the door for me. I changed out of my Rangeman gear and slipped into the suit. Although luxurious, I felt out of place. Men like me didn't wear suits, but I would do it to make my husband happy.
Cesar grinned and walked towards me, slipping his arms around my waist and pulling me against him. "You ready to have fun tonight?" He asked.
"I will at least be entertained." I grinned. He chuckled.
"Les does seem to make a spectacle every time there's a party."
"Come on, let's go. We don't want to be wait or we won't hear the end of it." I told him, taking his hand and tugging him with me to the door.
"Hey, if we're dressed up like each other shouldn't we be acting like each other?" He asked as I locked the doors behind us.
"No." I answered.
He rolled his eyes. "Fine, I don't think I could be that quiet all night anyway." He scoffed.
I shook my head and took his hand. I pressed a kiss to his wedding band earning a soft smile, as I led him to the car.
A/N: This story has eight chapters. 7 of which are POV's of eight people attending the party, the last being the actual party. Some chapters are short and others are long, but I promise the Party chapter is worth it.
