RISING OF THE (POSSIBLY) OMNIPOTENT ZENO
A/N: I'm seriously hoping that someone will adopt this story and continue it from where I leave off, which is at the end of this chapter. If not, though, then I will continue writing this. However, I am not willing to damage my wrists again to finish this, so expect chapter uploads to be few and far between should no one take this story for their own.
Chapter 1: The Omni-king
"Grand Zeno could annihilate anything he wishes in the blink of an eye regardless of size or complexity. Be it a single life form or a world or a galaxy or an entire universe. If it ever struck his fancy, he could eliminate everything - all of reality as we know it." -Whis
All-powerful. A word which means that anything can be done, as there are no limitations to what is possible with absolute power. On a side note, omnipotence is another word for all-powerful. One who is all-powerful is capable of doing anything and everything. Very few beings in any fictional works are deemed as such. Not even Medea Pedith Machina or Naofumi and Raphtalia from Rising of the Shield Hero are truly all-powerful, just ascended beings.
Dragon Ball Super's Zeno...is unknown. There are some supposed inconsistencies with him being an omnipotent, such as him having to charge up a universe-destroying attack, two Zenos from different timelines, being unable to follow the movements of Jiren and Goku, and the ability to create something from nothing. However, these can be squashed with logical reasoning. First, Zeno probably didn't have to charge up a universe-destroying attack. If he hadn't, then Trunks and the rest wouldn't have been able to escape back to the original timeline, and we can't have that. Second, the double Zenos schtick was just a convenient way for the manga author to have Goku find a friend for Zeno to hang out with so that the Saiyan himself wouldn't have to spend time with the omni-king. Third, while he may not have been able to follow their movements at the time, he probably could have just willed himself to be able to do so had the Grand Priest not already prepared ahead of time. His magic-creating something from nothing-could probably be manipulated to do so. Because of the Grand Priest, however, Zeno didn't have to go out of his way to do anything himself. Had he felt the need to, he might have gotten annoyed and erased them. Fourth and finally, Zeno did create the omni button, as well as candy, so he can obviously create things. A very interesting fact, although off-topic, is that Zeno is completely unkillable. Thus, Zeno is still in the running for possible omnipotent characters. In fact, one of his aliases is "The Almighty Zen'Oh". The only time one usually inserts the word "almighty" into a title is if the being with said title is omnipotent. Zeno is also very similar to the Japanese word "zennõ", which translates to "almighty", although this could just be a coincidence.
When a being such as Zeno, who so very little is known about yet is said to be unrivaled, is pitted against someone just like himself, the only known variable is that it will be epic. This...is not that type of story. Instead, it is about an unknown unrivaled in power-Zeno-being pitted against a being whose abilities we have substantial knowledge about.
On a day like any other, Zeno was lounging around while being bored out of his mind. All of that changed when his attendant, the Grand Priest, walked into the room and handed Zeno a book titled, "The Four Cardinal Heroes". Having nothing better to do, Zeno looked through the book before coming across the pages where the shield hero's information should have been, only to discover them to be blank. Suddenly, Zeno heard a male voice.
"Oh heroes! Please save our world!"
Before he could inquire about it, the pages of the book that he was holding suddenly started turning on their own before engulfing him in a bright light.
"Oh heroes! Please save our...world?"
These were the words that Zeno once again heard upon his landing. Looking around calmly, he saw five people in robes staring at him in shock.
"Oh, my head. What the hell just happened?" Someone bearing a shield who was next to Zeno asked as he started coming to his senses.
The omni-king then heard the groans of three other people next to the other guy. The first had a spear, the second had a sword, and the third had a bow. Upon getting up, the four saw Zeno and paled.
"Umm...is that Zeno-sama?" The one with the spear asked shakily.
"I...believe so," The one with the sword, whose body had frozen up, muttered.
"Oh no," The bow wielder whispered in abject terror.
"Shit...this is bad!" The now-trembling shield bearer quietly exclaimed.
Medea Pideth Machina was suddenly jolted from her thoughts upon feeling a presence-something that should not have been...something powerful-entering the world in the reality that she manipulated for her own amusement. This something was so immensly powerful that Medea felt threatened by its very existence. Thus, she used her conceptual attack on the anomaly, only for said anomaly to have been completely unaffected. Startled, she tried again, but to no avail. Next she tried to instantly kill it with her soul manipulation ability, but that failed too. Even more startled than before, she tried everything in her arsenal, with each attempt ending in the same result. It was as though this anomaly was indestructible, which he was, unbeknownst to her at the time. At this point, the urge to panic was strong, yet she did not. After calming herself as much as she was able, Medea became intrigued and decided to keep a close eye on this foreign presence, as it still made her feel very uneasy.
Zeno suddenly felt several...things that he was unable to describe off the top of his head. However, he dismissed them as unimportant enough to figure out, as he hadn't suffered any negative repercussions from them whatsoever.
After regaining his composure, the same hooded individual as before spoke, "Yes...well, as I was saying, please save our world, oh great heroes of legend! We are on the brink of disaster, and only you, chosen ones, can save us! Please, let us take you to our king so that he may better explain the situation!"
Those that were summoned had outright refused at first, save for Zeno, who had immediately agreed due to it sounding fun. In the end, albeit reluctantly, they gave in and decided to at least hear the ruler of the kingdom out.
The robed figures entered the throne room with the four heroes and Zeno in tow. Upon one of the thrones sat King Aultcray Melromarc XXXII, who had been patiently awaiting the arrival of the heroes. The other throne, the five summoned ones noticed, was unoccupied.
"Greetings, heroes! I...what is that...thing?" The king, whose eyes had widened in surprise upon noticing Zeno, asked incredulously.
The four boys then saw Zeno's smile turn into a frown. Thus they began to properly freak the fuck out.
"Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit!" The spearman shouted hysterically.
"Well, we're boned," The swordsman said lamely.
"We're all gonna die!" The one with the bow screamed.
"I don't want to die yet! I have so many things that I still want to do! Why did he have to upset Zeno-sama?!" The shield bearer cried.
The four heroes suddenly stopped and went silent for a moment as they took in what the shield bearer had said. Then they all rushed up to Zeno and started pleading with him to spare them all. This, predictably, annoyed Zeno.
"You're being bothersome. Stop...or I'll kill you," Zeno told them darkly.
After apologizing profusely to Zeno, the four boys all turned to look at the king, who was looking rather confused. Seeing this, the boys explained who Zeno was to the current ruler of Melromarc, who only looked at the omni-king dubiously. This did not go unnoticed by the four boys.
"Geez...at this rate, it will be a miracle if everyone even survives the day," The wielder of the sword sighed with a downcast expression, to which the other three silently agreed.
"I am King Aultcray Melromarc XXXII, ruler of Melromarc. May I know your names, heroes?"
"Ren Amaki. Sixteen years old, high school student," The swordsman said as he stepped up first.
"I am Motoyasu Kitamura, twenty-one years old, university student," The blonde-ponytailed spearman stated with less flair than he normally would have as he stepped up next.
"I suppose that I'm next. Itsuki Kawasumi, sixteen years old, high school student," The bow wielder replied.
"I'm Naofumi I-"
"Ren, Motoyasu, Itsuki, and Zeno, correct?" King Aultcray asked while cutting Naofumi off.
Annoyed, Naofumi said, "Hey king, you forgot about me."
"Oh yes, how could I forget?" The king asked sarcastically. "Well, on with it."
"Right. I'm Naofumi Iwatani, eighteen years old, college student," The shielder stated, to which the king waved his hand dismissively. "He's seriously just ignoring me?"
"Anyway, let me explain the situation," The king began. "Melromarc is on the brink of destruction. However, it's not just my country, but the entire world that's in danger from the threat known as waves. According to prophesy, these waves will ensure the end of the world, lest the Four Cardinal Heroes defeat them. In our arrogance, we had underestimated the strength of the waves. We managed to stop the first one, but this victory came at the cost of most of the kingdom's soldiers and several adventurers. However, the waves will only get stronger, and so we summoned you four. We had no choice. Although it seems that another was brought here as well. Then again, if this Zeno is as strong as you make him out to be, then the waves should be no problem, right? I mean, just look at his stature. It's the kind of stature that really screams, 'I'm definitely not just some child.'"
The nobles and guards in the throne room chuckled at the king's "praise" of the omni-king. The four boys, on the other hand, had broken out into a cold sweat.
"We've barely started, and the king's already mocking Zeno-sama," Ren sighed in exasperation.
"Forget surviving the day. At this rate, we'll be lucky if we even survive until the end of this meeting," Motoyasu groaned.
"I can't argue with you there, even if Zeno-sama is completely oblivious to the fact that he's being made fun of," Naofumi quietly said while rubbing his temples to alleviate the pain from his oncoming headache.
Off to the side, Zeno was looking around in confusion before he just shrugged and started laughing along with everyone else.
"Regardless," Itsuki started while ignoring Zeno and the other three boys, "We get the gist of it. However, I hope you all aren't expecting us to do this for free."
Ren, who did not share the bow wielder's sentiments, said, "Just send me back to my world. No amount of money is worth being erased from existence."
The other two boys shared Ren's sentiments and demanded to be sent back to their world at once. However, it was not to be.
"I'm sorry, but we cannot. Until the waves are defeated, I'm afraid that returning to your world will be impossible," The king's royal adviser explained.
"Well, there goes that idea," Naofumi sighed dejectedly.
"However, we are still willing to pay you all handsomely, should you accept," The royal adviser told them.
Seeing as this was probably the best deal that any of them were going to get in this situation, the three reluctantly agreed while Itsuki agreed wholeheartedly. Zeno, on the other hand, was happily spinning in circles on one leg, causing the castle itself to form a giant sweatdrop on its side.
The king recovered quickly and said, "Anyway, I'll have a servant escort you all to your rooms for the night."
With a motion of his hand, a maid appeared and told them to follow her. Along the way, Motoyasu commented on how cute the girl was. After the four heroes had been escorted to the room that they'd all be staying in for the night, she then led Zeno to a room of his own.
Not needing sleep, however, Zeno stayed awake that night while looking forward to what the next day would bring.
TO (HOPEFULLY) BE CONTINUED BY SOMEONE ELSE, THOUGH IF NOT, THEN BY ME...
