A thirty something year old man sat at a table, head buried in his hands. A big, dark hand was patting him on the back as a bulky man in chef clothing tried comforting him, not talking but still trying to be helpful. The man let out a loud groan before looking up, eyeing the other people at the table with him. Each one looked as dejected as the next, heads down or eyes containing no spark, lifeless and cold.

"What are we going to do for our next season Chris?" One of the people asked, voice giving into how desperate he really was.

The host, Chris, looked up to eye the asker. He had his black hair tied into a bun, a dark blue shirt, and green pants. His sunglasses hid his eyes, and the only way his emotions were known was due to his frown and the way his voice shook. Chris continued to look at the young man, sighing.

"I don't know. With all these new hosts doing these new ideas and seasons, I'm stuck. It was bad when it was Don, but now wrestlers are making their own season, a literal child is competing against me sometimes, and hell, DON is back at it again." Chris started to explain, before it turned into a mini rant. "We need something fresh and new, a new premise never seen before."

Everyone present nodded, before a notification went off on one of their phones. Everyone looked to see a girl with pink hair tied into twin tails, a black mask with a cat face, a long sleeved shirt, and skirt. She blushed and hid behind the person next to her when she saw all the eyes on her, making said human shield roll their eyes.

"Sorry, she doesn't know to mute her phone when in important business." The human shield said, flicking the hider's head. "Ellie, what was that?"

"Emma, it was my phone. Splatoon got an update, and you know I have to play it." Ellie said, or more, whined.

They two continued to bicker back and forth while everyone watched. Everyone, except Chris. He was deep into his mind, trying to piece the baby of an idea together. He tuned out the bickering of the others, mind turning every which way. The chef noticed his look and tapped his shoulder, breaking him out of his thoughts.

"Whatcha thinking about?" Chef asked, wanting in on whatever crazy idea the host had cooking.

"That game…what was it called?" Chris started, snapping his fingers. "Splatoon! It has to be popular if it's getting notifications and such on phones, right?"

The chef nodded, not sure where the host was going with this.

"Tell me, how many video game themed seasons have been made?" Chris asked his bigger friend.

"Well, quite a few, each mostly working as an arcade type, but some still including a bit of single game focus. Why?"

Chris sagged, his idea seeming to go up into smoke. That is, until a throat was cleared, making the two look behind them at a shadowy figure. It was only shadowy because the person was leaning in a corner, hood down and arms crossed. He pushed off the wall and walked over to the duo, holding out his hand.

"Names Benny. I can help you with what I think you were planning." He introduced as Chris and Chef shook his hand.

"Forget it. There is no way this is going to be unique." Chris said, once again down in the dumps.

This caused Benny to laugh, Chef raising an eyebrow at the peculiar behavior.

"No no, you don't understand. You were planning to focus your next big season around that Splatoon game, right?"

Chris nodded.

"Well, there are two things you gotta know. One, while the gaming themed season is popular, no one has done it around Splatoon specifically. And two, they are video game themes. No one has ever…went inside the game."

Chris and Chef looked at each other, before bursting into laughter. Their laughing caught the attention of everyone else, all looking to see what caused the joyous noise. Chris managed to explain what Benny had just said through his laughter, and everyone else giggled. Well, except Ellie, but no one paid her any mind.

"I'm serious. You'd be the first to work this idea. Think of the ratings."

Chris immediately stopped laughing and looked at the teen, serious.

"Ratings, you say? Care to explain how this idea would work?"

Benny spent the next ten minutes explaining the idea thoroughly, answering every question and concern that was raised. After everything was said and done, all parties seemed satisfied, Benny grinning widely and Chris shaking.

"Well, what is the final call?" Benny asked, as Chris took out his phone and made a call.

"Hello? Chris Mclean? What do you-" The voice on the line started.

"GET READY BECAUSE THE CHRIS IS BACK WITH AN ALL NEW SEASON!" Chris cheered, before ending the call.

"We have the crew, we have the season, and we have the way. We just need the cast." Chef said.

"Time to go cast hunting. I can't wait to see what we can do to them this time." Chris said, chuckling, causing everyone to either laugh along uneasily or shrug.

AND THAT'S THAT. New SYOC, new me, new everything. Well, except Chris. He's the same. I know y'all might be weary of me, but trust when I say this season will have an end and a winner. I just don't know who. That's where you come in. You will be sending in a winner. That's the point of SYOC's after all.
