PMD: The power crisis
Prologue:
Ahhh the world of Pokémon. It could probably be considered the most magical, beautiful and peaceful place in the world. Maybe in a perfect universe. However, in this one, it seems that it wasn't meant to be. Within the last couple hundred years four different catastrophic crisis threatened to destroy the world as we know it. First was the meteor crisis, where a massive meteor threatened to crash into the air continent, perhaps even completely decimating it. Next, time almost froze across the world after the near collapse of temporal tower on the grass continent. On the mist continent, the threat of the endless cold arose, nearly covering the entire world in an endless winter. Finally, most recently, on the water continent, the threat of dark matter covering the world in darkness and stone statues occurred. All four of these had something in common: the crisis were all prevented by a pair of heroes: one human and one Pokémon. Now more than ever, another new threat seems to be rising, threating the world anew.

In the small town of Milleaf, on the Dry Continent, something truly incredible seemed to happen on a seemingly normal afternoon: it started raining. As the name would suggest, the dry continent doesn't get much rain, which meant that for irrigation either small rivers were used, or water types were paid. So nearly everyone was ecstatic about the sudden arrival of the rain. Sure, it would last for a whole day, and it brought thunder with it, but what is a little bit of noise and electricity going to do to them? Well, as said before, not everyone was ecstatic about the sudden arrival of the rain. Mainly only two Pokémon.
The Guildmaster stood in front of the window looking over the ocean and the rain pounding on the windows. Yet, as everyone rejoiced in the upper floors, he could only look uneasily at the thunderclouds that slowly passed above. "This isn't a normal thunderstorm" he thought almost out loud as he watched another lighting strike discharge itself at the ground outside the village. He had many bad feelings about certain things, yet this wasn't a bad feeling. He tried to shake his head and concentrate. The feeling was curious, so he focused on it. It was too weak to be sadness, or anger, and yet was too strong to be just simple unease. In the end, he concluded it to be a simple combination of multiple feelings, concocting itself into a new feeling that cannot be described by simple words. He could stay there for the rest of the day and try and find it, yet he somehow felt as though it would elude him. He probably would have stayed there, locked in a trance, if someone didn't knock on the door.
"Sir?" Squirtle's voice could be heard outside.
"Come in" he said, turning around to meet his second in command. Squirtle came in and closed the door.
"Are you going to be coming up? The party is nice and Raichu made the pancakes you love so much. Since nobody knows how you look, you could easily enjoy it."
"I am not sure Squirtle. This storm is giving me a bad feeling."
Squirtle's face grew a shade lighter.
"S-should be prepare for something bad happening?"
"I am unsure, but just in case, make sure that the party doesn't last for too long."
Squirtle nodded and started going back, when the guildmaster stopped him again.
"And Squirtle?"
"Yes?"
"Do you mind bringing me a plate of those pancakes? I might be nervous but I still have my appetite."
Squirtle seemed to smile a little bit.
"Of course, sir."
The door was shut quietly, leaving the Guildmaster alone once again. He turned his attention back to the storm as a particularly strong pair of lightning strikes struck the ground in near unison. His feeling of dread grew worse.
"Really though" he thought to himself "What could be happening?"

On the other side of the town, another person was looking through the window at the rain. In particular, this was a newcomer to the town, Sea the oshawott. Sea came to the town a few days prior and has been busy helping his mother set up the house so that they are able to live in it. All the time, however, Sea has been waiting for the ordeal to end so that he would be able to explore the town and its surroundings better. He was especially interested in the guild, as it was known to be one of the best in the world, at least according to the rumours. He could her his mother clanging the dishes, probably preparing the next meal. The last time he saw his father, was around a month ago, when he went on an expedition on the grass continent. He wasn't sure whether he would like to follow his father's footsteps however, exploring mystery dungeons seemed like a much more entertaining option than watering plants on some farm for the rest of his life. He heard his mother's footsteps approach as Sally the samurott entered his room with a small plate of various veggies and fruits.
Sally was a type of mother that cares about her child a lot, so she immediately noticed that something was wrong with him.
"Honey are you alright?" she asked.
"I'm fine. Just a little sad I didn't get to explore a bit today."
Sally set the plate down on the floor next to Sea's bed as she went over to look through the window with him.
"I mean" he continued "I am a water type, so a bit of rain wouldn't hurt me"
"The rain might not, but…"
"…the thunder might. Yeah, I know mom." He sighed loudly as he continued to stare through the window.
Sally fidgeted uneasily.
"Look, today might have been a bust, but you can always look forward to tomorrow"
Sea looked at his mother for the first time she entered the room.
"I guess that is true…"
"And besides, considering the heavy rain, I might not need to work tomorrow, which means we could go together!"
A spark immediately illuminated Sea's eyes.
"Really?!"
"Yes, I don't see why not. That way we can spend some time together, you can explore a bit and I can make sure that nothing bad happens to you. It's a win-win!"
Sea's mood immediately improved, as he started to go back to his old energetic self.
"Thank mom! I can't wait"
A pair of thunders struck the ground in the nearby woods, but as much as Sea cared, they might have as well strike right next to their house and he wouldn't have noticed.
"Now come on, slowpoke, let's eat together" Sally said as she walked out of her room.
"Coming mom!" he responded as he went to pick up his plate. He looked at the window and the rain one last time, but this time with some level of it, as it now gave him an even better opportunity to explore the town's surroundings.
Little did they know what was coming the next day.

In the nearby woods, as the wind was howling and many of the Pokémon were huddled in their lairs and caves, an incredibly powerful pair of thunderbolts struck the ground. To the nearby Pokémon, it seemed like the force exerted moved earth itself, yet no one outside of the vicinity of the forest felt anything but a loud bang. Both strikes however, brought something with them. The first one, happening to strike in a small meadow brought a small, small bit of hope, in a form of a tiny blue huddled figure seemingly laying there unconscious. The other strike, hitting an old dead tree seemingly sparked an exact opposite effect, bringing fire, destruction and burns.
Lots and lots of burns.
