p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter walked through the doors of Midtown School of Science looking pale. He had bags under his eyes and was wearing a long sleeve flannel despite the mild spring weather. The flannel hid most of his gashes and bruises that he had received the night before while patrolling. His legs ached with every step and his backpack straps pressed into his back making him wince. Peter hadn't slept in weeks. When he would lay down for bed his mind wandered. Peter had seen and been through a lot in his young life and it was beginning to take a toll on him. After defeating Toomes Peter had frequent nightmares. He would wake up screaming and shaking and feeling like his mouth was filling with sand. Sometimes Aunt May would rush in to calm him down but one time Peter in a delusional state pushed her so hard she nearly got a concussion. This is why Peter would stay out late on patrol. As much as he knew he needed to sleep he would do anything to get rid of his nightmares. Getting as little sleep as possible was one way to avoid them. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; min-height: 15px;" /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter closed his locker revealing his best friend Ned standing behind it. Ned immediately acknowledged how ill his best friend looked that morning. "Dude you look awful. Rough night?" Ned had become used to seeing Peter beat up after a tough night of patrolling. "Tell me about it." Peter groaned. The boys walked to class and took their seats waiting for the class to begin. Peter felt the dull ache of his head. He didn't remember hitting it the night before but he wouldn't be surprised if he had. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; min-height: 15px;" /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter put on his best face despite having pain with every movement. Even sitting in his chair was painful. By the third period Ned started to notice that Peter wasn't himself. "You alright Pete?" He asked as they walked to the Chemistry lab. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Yeah yeah I'm good. My healing should be working so I'll be fine by tonight." Peter answered. It wasn't a lie but Peter was starting to become a little concerned himself. His super healing usually kicked in by now and Peter almost felt worse than he had that morning. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; min-height: 15px;" /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"By lunch Peter could barely keep his head up. He sat at the table poking at his lunch for a few minutes and spent the rest of the period with his head buried in his arms on the lunch table. The loud chatter of the cafeteria was like a drill making Peters's headache worse and worse. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Peter?" /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Hey Pete"/p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""You okay loser?"/p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter groggily opened his eyes he must have dozed off. He awoke to the sound of Ned and MJ calling his name and nudging his shoulder. He raised his head slightly although it took a massive amount of effort. Ned and MJ watched him closely with concerned faces. They waited for a response. "M' okay just tired" he finally said to them. Grumbling in the process. Even getting words to come out of his mouth was a struggle. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Let's get you to the nurse" Ned said to his friend warmly. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""No no I have a test in geometry. I'll be fine." /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter said. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"MJ scooted closer to him and put a hand on his shoulder giving it a little squeeze. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Pete you really don't look good at all. I really think we should walk you to the nurse." She said in a soft comforting tone that was not typical for MJ. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Guys I promise I'm fine we just have 2 periods left. I will tell May as soon as I get home." /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Promise?" MJ replied. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Yeah" Peter said knowing it was a lie. He was going to meet Mr. Stark to work in the lab after school. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter and MJ had become close recently and although neither one had really made a move there was something between them that hadn't been there before. Peter put his head back down on the table and Mj rubbed gentle circles on his back. Peter would never admit it but it made him feel relief even for just a few seconds. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Thankfully, Peter made it the rest of the day but not without difficulty. His head was throbbing and if felt like it was on fire. He couldn't think clearly and his vision was starting to blur around the edges. He had checked a gash on his ribs in the bathroom mirror and it looked anything but good. It was starting to ooze green stuff and it felt like it had a pulse. Peter's sprained ankle was the least of his worries at the moment although it forced him to walk to Happy's car with a slight limp. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Happy watched Peter through the rear view mirror with a concerned and investigative look. "You okay back there kid?" He asked when he heard something that sounded like a groan. Peter assured him he was okay and happy didn't protest./p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; min-height: 15px;" /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter stumbled into the lab and got to work. FRIDAY informed him that Mr. Stark was running late and would be joining him shortly. Peter tried to work on web fluid but was not as efficient as he normally would be in the lab. Tony walked in and greeted Peter. Peter wore goggles covering half his face but even so Tony noticed the kid wasn't himself. "Hey kid are you sick you look a little green?" Peter brushed it off as best he could and the pair got to work. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"After about an hour Peter couldn't take it anymore. He was in so much pain and it was radiating throughout his body. His head hurt so bad he was starting to become nauseous. Peter put his head down on the lab table in an attempt to block out some of the light and get some relief. "Are you alright kid?" Tony asked with a twinge of worry in his voice. Peter couldn't answer. He could barely even process that Tony had just spoken to him. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Pete?" Tony called over again, concern mounting. Peter could no longer take the pain. His vision started to blur and everything became dark. He collapsed to the ground his head just missing the corner of the lab table. Tony threw off his goggles and ran to his Mentee. Tony crouched at his side immediately shaking Peter's shoulders in an attempt to wake him. Peter was only down for a second but it had been enough the scare Tony shitless. "Pete!" "Hey hey hey! Are you with me?" Peter opened his eyes and immediately began to panic. His eyes darting like crazy. "Pete hey, you're okay just breathe." Tony said soothingly. " what's wrong are you sick? Have you eaten today?" /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter just ignored Tony's questions as he groaned. His breathing rate began to pick up and Peter started to panic. Before he knew it Peter had tears streaming down his face and was starting to sob. Peter felt like he was dying. He has never been in so much pain in his entire life and he'd been stabbed many times. Tony with even more panic in his voice asked again what was wrong. "I'm calling Bruce!" Tony exclaimed but before he could dial Peter squeaked out "m' so tired Mr. St-Stark." "M-my head it- It hurts." /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Did you hit it?" Tony asked with panic in his voice. Running a hand through Peters's curls. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""No." Peter replied. "Jus-jus so tired." /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Tony sat down next to the crying boy and wrapped him in a tight hug. Tony rubbed his back in an attempt to calm the boy down. Tony had never seen Peter like this and it broke his heart. He was concerned about why he just collapsed and would certainly be bringing him down to the med bay later. Right now he was more concerned with getting Peter to stop panicking and to slow his breathing down. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter sobbed and was dampening Tony's shirt. Peter began to hiccup in between sobs and his breathing was erratic. Tony pulled away. Peter only cried harder with the loss of comfort. "Hey you're okay buddy I'm not going anywhere." Tony said in the softest voice Peter had ever heard from his mentor. Tony had had his fair share of panic attacks and he felt that this was where that was headed. Tony placed one hand on Peters's knee and the other on his cheek. Stroking it in a soothing manner as he spoke. "Breathe Pete. It's ok. I got you" /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Just copy my breaths he said to the boy. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter tried to follow Tony's breaths but when he couldn't he only sobbed harder. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Come on Peter you can do it. deep breaths for me bud." Tony gently picked up Peters's hand and placed it on his own chest. " feel my breaths. In, out. In and out. Come on I don't want you to pass out again kid." /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter struggled but after a few minutes, his breathing started to slow. His sobs quieted down while the tears still flowed. Tony scooted closer to Peter and threw his arm around the kids shoulder. Peter leaned in to his touch. Without realizing Peter rested his head on Tony's shoulder aching for comfort and completely exhausted. Tony gazed down at his mentee. He looked so small in this moment. Tony never realized how much he cared for this kid but in that moment Tony would have done anything for this kid. Tony rubbed peters shoulder with his thumb. He took his other thumb and removed some wetness from the boys face. "We can talk about this later kid. But I need to get you down to medical and they'll check you out. Do you think you can stand?" Tony asked. Peter nodded. Tony brushed a curl from Peters forehead. "It's going to be okay buddy" he said before helping the teen stand up. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Tony had called Bruce on their way down to the med bay. Bruce was already there by the time the two arrived. Tony was supporting most of Peter's weight and practically dragging him into the medical wing. Tony was growing more concerned by the minute. Peter had often sustained broken bones and even gun shots and had continued to fight. Now Peter could barley walk three steps on his own. Bruce helped Tony get the kid on the table. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"With a concerned yet calm demeanor Bruce asked Peter what happened. When Peter didn't answer and instead stared down at his hands Bruce asked again this time looking at Tony. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""The kid didn't look so good and out of no where he just collapsed. " /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Hmm" Bruce said. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"He asked Peter if he had gotten injured on patrol as he took the boys vitals. Peter shook his head. "M-jus- so tired. M-my head, it it hurts." /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Bruce continued to examine Peter. When he shone the light in Peters eye he flinched, wincing with pain. Peter was sensitive to the bright light. Tony held Peters hand, gently rubbing his thumb over the back of Peters hand. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Pupils look fine. I think we can rule out concussion. I think you might be suffering from a migraine but I have no idea what is causing it. " Bruce exclaimed. "Anything else we should know about Peter?" Bruce added looking puzzled. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter starred down at his hands before speaking. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""healing n-not working." He managed to get out. Peter slowly lifted his shirt revealing a nasty gash. Tony and Bruce exchanged looks of disgust and fear. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""That is definitely infected. What the hell happened to you bud? Why didn't you tell me your healing wasn't working?" Tony asked, but this time in a less gentle tone than he had used all day. Tony released his hand from Peters and scrubbed it over his face. Peter mustered up the strength to explain to the avengers that he had gotten the gash while trying to stop two guys from robbing a local coffee shop. He told them how it was not bad and that it should definitely have healed by now. Bruce explained that that he would need to run some tests to figure out why Peters enhanced healing wasn't working. "First, we need to clean out that nasty wound you got there. I'm sorry Peter but I'm going to be honest this is not going to feel good." Peter tensed up and Tony wrapped an arm around him giving him a little squeeze. Tony leaned over and placed a quick kiss on the top of Peters's forehead. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"By the time Bruce was finished cleaning the wound. Peter was shaking and soaked in sweat. He had tears staining the white paper on the exam table. Tony was running one hand through his hair and the other was stoking his shoulder. "Shhh shhh," Tony said soothing the crying kid. The only drawback of having super healing was that pain meds did not even make a dent. Once Peter had calmed down a little Tony excused himself to take a phone call. Tony paced back and forth down the hall. There was no phone call but Tony needed to get out of there. He needed a minute. His kid was down bad and there was nothing Tony could do. He just watched the poor boy wailing and crying out in pain. Terror filling his eyes. Peter was a tough kid but seeing him so weak recked Tony to his core. He felt his anxiety twisting his gut. He violently kicked a trash can sending a loud bang down the hall. He paced some more just trying to clear his head. He decided it was best to text May, Peters aunt that he would be spending the night at the Tower working on a project. He hated lying to her but he didn't want to freak her out. He thought about calling Pepper but he didn't trust himself to tell her what was going on without breaking down. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Bruce nearly finished all of his tests and got Peter set up for an MRI to rule out any head trauma. Peter was so exhausted. Not only had he been in constant pain for the entire day but he nearly had a paid attack and it took everything out of him. Bruce gave him some medication to lessen his headache but due to Peters enhanced healing it barely helped. Peter was beginning to feel his eyelids drooping as he was loaded into the MRI machine. He fought to stay awake not wanting to have a nightmare. Once he could no longer keep his eyes open he succumb to sleep inside the MRI machine. It wasn't for about 20 minutes that Bruce and Tony realized that Peter was asleep. They watched him closely through the window in the tech room. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Bruce I'm really worried about him. I have never seen him like this. Watching him collapse was one of the scariest moments of my life. Please tell me you have an idea of what's going on and it is a quick fix."/p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Tones I've got to be honest, I really am at a loss. I know he has a migraine which could be a reason for him passing out, but I am not sure why his healing is not working. I also don't know what triggered a migraine that bad when he's never had one before." Bruce said looking at his friend sympathetically. Tony just stared right at his kid through the window not even acknowledging what Bruce had just said. Bruce put a hand on his friend's shoulder. "I promise Tony I will figure this out. He's going to be fine. Why don't you go upstairs and grab something to eat. I can't have you passing out on me either. And grab something for Peter I'm sure he'll be starving when he wakes up." Tony gave a half smile back at his friend. Tony was reluctant but agreed to take a quick trip upstairs while Peter was asleep. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"While Tony was gone Peter began to drift into a nightmare. He started to sweat and shake. Images of him lying in the sand being crushed by heavy metal. He could smell fire all around him. He began to taste the sand filling his mouth. He couldn't breathe. Panic began to sink in. He tried to scream but nothing would come out. He was all alone. He was going to die. He was going to be crushed. His hold body began to shake and silent tears began to slide down his cheeks. Peters's eyes started to open as his panicking woke him up. He could hear the loud banging of the MRI machine which only further sent him into panic. He was still trapped under the ruble being crushed. He was alone. Finally he was able to scream out. His tears were no longer silent but accompanied by sobs and shrieks. Bruce, who was busy looking in notes and files on superhuman for any help on what was wrong with Peter heard a muffled scream coming from the other side of the glass. His eyes darted up and he saw Peter screaming and shaking violently. He immediately stopped the MRI and ran to Peter. "Hey kid calm down. It's okay." Bruce exclaimed. Peter didn't even hear him he was still trapped in his nightmare. Bruce tried putting a hand on his shoulder but the kid pushed him away. Just then Tony burst into the room nearly dropping his coffee and running to his kid. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""BRUCE WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? " Tony yelled approaching Peter. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""I think he's having a nightmare. I tried to wake him up but I think he's having a panic attack. He doesn't know where he is. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Shit!" Tony yelled. Tony put two hands on the boy's shoulders facing him to look Tony in the eyes, but Peter shook and squirmed violently forcing Tony to release."Hey Pete you gotta wake up. You're okay kid. I'm here." /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter didn't stop. He continued to breathe erratically and scream. The tears were still falling. Tony tried everything to get the boy to snap out of it but it was no use. With his fatherly instincts kicking in Tony tried one last thing. He wrapped his arms around the boy and slowly lifted him out of the machine. Peter wailed and shook trying to get Tony's arms off of him, but Tony held him firmly. Tony placed Peter in his lap still wrapping his arms around the boy. Tony held him so tightly and rested his own head on the crook of Peters neck. He rubbed Peters arms which he clutched tightly, up and down in a soothing motion. "C'mon Pete. Come back to me kid." Tony whispered. Peter started to calm down. He felt comfort in Tony's tight embrace. Tony could feel Peter starting to relax. He breathing slowed and his sobs quieted down. Bruce watched the scene unsure of how to help. He announced he was going to get Peter some water. "Shhh. You're okay Peter. I got you. You're okay." Tony soothed. He rocked Peter ever so slightly like you would do a newborn. Tony was not Peters dad, Tony wasn't anyones dad, but Peter was still his kid. He knew exactly what his kid needed and he would do anything to make sure he was okay. Tony's eyes were wet and Tony was glad Bruce had went to fetch water. After awhile Peter had stopped crying. Tony held the cup of water Bruce had brought up to Peters mouth. Peter gulped it down. "Hey hey small sips Pete." Tony said to the boy still seated in his lap. Tony pressed a kiss to his forehead as he swiveled his head to look at Peters face. "Are you okay bud?" He asked even though he already knew they answer. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""m'fine." Peter said even though they both knew it was a lie. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Tony carried Peter up to his bedroom at the tower. Peter had stayed the night on weekends or when a special project needed to be completed. Tony had made it special for the kid filling it with all of Peters's favorite things. Tony tucked Peter in and propped him up with a pillow. He forced the kid to eat a banana and some crackers. Tony sat at the edge of Peters's bed and watched him eat. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Okay, spider-baby. Time for bed. We'll figure this out tomorrow but you need to get some sleep." Tony said when Peter was finished. Peter looked down at his hands avoiding eye contact with Tony. He couldn't sleep. He couldn't risk having another nightmare. "No." Peter said simply. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""What do you mean no?" Tony asked in a joking way. Peter just shrugged his shoulders. Tony reached out tipping Peters chin upward so that he was looking into Peters eyes. "Kiddo please talk to me. You are completely exhausted yet you don't want to sleep? What's going on bud?" Tony asked. Peter looked away from Tony again and contemplated just not answering, but Peter was so tired. His head was still killing him and he would do anything for some sleep. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Nightmares." Peter choked out. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Hmmm. Okay. "Tony replied. "And how often do these nightmares happen bud. Today wasn't the first time?" /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter squirmed a little. Tony could sense that Peter was becoming tense. He could see Peters's eyes becoming glossy again. He scooted closer to the boy so that he could place a hand on his shoulder. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Ummm no today wasn't the first time," Peter said only answering half the question. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Okay and how often does this happen Pete?" Tony asked again with pleading eyes./p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter hesitated before saying, "Every- Every time I close my eyes." A slow tear rolled down Peters cheek. Tony wiped it with his free hand. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""How long has this been going on?" Tony asked trying to piece things together. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Ever since. Ever since Homecoming. It started happening about once a week but it just kept getting worse and worse. It's terrible Tony. I feel like I'm trapped. I- I feel like I'm there all over again. I feel like I'm dying and I'm all alone." Peter began to sob once more unloading all of his pent-up feelings. Homecoming happened six months ago. Tony wanted to shout but instead, he remained calm and listened to the boy. "I- I haven't slept in weeks. I can't. I've been lying about patrolling until 11. I told Karen not to tell. I just can't sleep. I can't do it Mr. Stark. I can't go through that again!" Peter shouted. Tony wrapped his arms around the kid enveloping him in a tight hug. He was not happy about the kid lying or the fact that this had gone on for months and Peter never told him, but being there for the kid was way more important in this moment. Tony stroked the back of Peters's hair as he hugged him tightly. Tony eventually pulled back, still holding onto the kid's shoulders. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""The good news is I think we just found the reason for your healing being all messed up. This happened to Steve once when he was on a mission and didn't sleep. His healing went out the window." Peter listened intently as Tony brushed a curl from out of his face. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""And exhaustion would also explain the migraine." Tony continued, relief filling his voice. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Can you fix me?" Peter asked looking up at his mentor. His voice was so quiet and strained from all the crying. Tony nearly melted. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Of course I can" Tony said with a chuckle. "I'm Tony freaking Stark. Have you met me kid?" /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter smiled softly. It was the first time Tony had seen him do that all day. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Kid I need you to look at me when I say this. Okay?" Tony said. Grabbing both of the kid's hands in his causing Peter to look up. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""First off there is nothing wrong with you. Having nightmares and anxiety attacks is unfortunately an occupational hazard. It's the price that comes with being a hero. We've all seen stuff and been through some shit that messes with out heads. There is no shame in feeling the way you do. Okay?" Tony explained. Peter nodded. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""I think it would be good for you to talk to a counselor or a therapist. They can help you work through some of this. I've been seeing a therapist for years and trust me without her I would be lost. I also have some meds that Bruce can give you in the mean time to help you get some sleep." Tony continued. The man repositioned himself next to the boy leaning against the headboard of the bed. He wrapped an arm around the boy and Peter rested his head on Tony's shoulder. "and kid no matter what you've always got me. I am always a phone call away no matter the time or place. Heck you can even bust my door down at 3 am if you need to although don't tell Pepper I said that." Tony said squeezing Peters shoulder. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""Thank you Tony." Peter said nuzzling into his mentor's shoulder. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"" Anytime kiddo." Tony said to the boy. "Peter, I- I love you kid. You've always got me alright bud? No matter what I'll always be here for you. /p
p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';""I love you too." Peter said beaming. Tony had never said those words to Peter but he knew that in this moment it was right. It was the first time all day Peter felt a sense of relief. He could breathe again. He began to close his eyes and he drifted off to sleep. /p

p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"Peter walked through the doors of Midtown School of Science looking pale.
