So I'll be posting a few quicker updates since I have a few of the first few chapters already wrote. So here's the newest update, enjoy!

Katrina had grown up to the the splitting image of her late mother, Lily. Red hair that fell to her shoulders, bright green eyes, and a pale complexion. A scar ran along the left side of her neck. The scar itself was a straight diagonal line. She wasn't that found of it and, therefore, she always tried to hide it. When she had questioned how she had gotten it, her father had said a magical mishap when her powers began to show up since they appeared early on.

She was only seven years of age and was already intelligent and she was showing an interest in potions, since her father was constantly brewing potions.

She currently had her nose in a book of well-known witches and wizards and was reading about the Potter family.

"Lily and James Potter died by the Dark Lord. Hope Potter died by the Dark Lord. Harry James Potter is the only known person to have lived through the Unforgivable Curse, the Killing Curse, known as Avada Kedavra."

Looking at the ages of the family, she frowned at seeing that Hope was just one when she had been killed. Her twin brother had lost his twin and his parents all in the same night.

"Daddy?"

"Yes?"

"Why did Harry Potter live? I heard some people talking about the family and I wanted to see who they were. And it says he's the only one who lived, but his parents and his twin sister…they all died. It's quite sad."

Her father had stopped his stirring of the potion he was making.

"Yes, it was a terrible day for the wizard world, but also great because the Dark Lord was gone. No one knows why the boy lived. All that remains as proof of his survival is a scar on his forehead."

"In the shape of a lightning bolt. It says so here."

"Precisely. Want to learn of this potion?" he asked, wanting to pull her attention away from the Potter family.

"YES!"

The book was closed and left forgotten about as she ran over to her father and the cauldron.

"Now you remember what I've told you before?"

"Yes, that brewing potions can be dangerous if not done correctly. Always use caution and follow the instructions. And of course listen to the best Potions Master ever, being you, Daddy."

Snape smiled at Katrina before he went onto explain the potion he was brewing and catching her up with what he had already done. Katrina was taking in every word that he told her.

Today, was a special day, for today Katrina was eleven, which meant her Hogwarts letter would arrive soon. She hoped it would arrive today on her eleventh birthday.

Over the years she had grown even more into the resemblance of her mother. She was petite, her auburn red was now to her waist, and her bright green eyes still stood out against her pale skin. A few freckles covered her cheeks and nose because of the warm weather and being out and about on the Hogwarts grounds. She still kept her scar hidden as well. She had never grown to accept it. She hated the blemish on her and wished she could hide it. But magic couldn't for some strange reason.

Katrina had learned the castle like the back of her hand, well at least where she was allowed to venture to. The dungeons she had learned. The path to the Great Hall. The best way to the classrooms. She couldn't wait to finally be part of the school crowd of witches and wizards when the term started.

"Katrina had grown to be smart and clever, but she did occasionally sneak off to where she wasn't allowed to, especially when terms were in session because she wanted to try and see anything. She would be a little mischievous when time permitted, playing some harmless pranks. She couldn't wait to finally get to meet some kids her own age, too and make some friends. For some odd reason, her father liked to keep her close. So when she did break rules, she was in trouble.

She was pulled from her thoughts as her father placed an envelope on the desk.

"Is this…" she trailed, looking at envelope and then back up to him.

His lips twitched slightly as he kept from smiling, as she grabbed the envelope and eagerly ripped it opened. Unfolding the letter she read aloud:

"Dear Miss Snape, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry…"

She beamed at her father.

"I got in, Daddy! Oh can we go get my supplies this weekend? Please Daddy?"

"We'll go this weekend. Congratulations, sweetheart."

Katrina hopped up and hugged him. "Thank you, Daddy!"

... ... ...

The weekend came quickly and soon she was at Diagon Alley with her father getting her supplies for Hogwarts. She couldn't contain her excitement! She was finally going to get to go! She couldn't wait!

Katrina was fitted for her robes which were to be standard black until she was sorted into her house and they gained the color needed depending on her House.

Once she was fitted, she and her father went to Ollivanders to find her wand.

"Oh hello, Severus." Ollivander greeted as he saw who had entered the shop.

Ollivander was an older gentleman with white hair and light colored eyes who was dressed in a suit that looked a little dusty from the shop that was filled with boxes upon boxes of wands.

"Hello. We're here to get her wand, if you would."

"Of course, of course. Come closer, dear."

Katrina approached the counter, cautiously. She had always heard about getting your first wand was an experience, but she didn't quite know what exactly that meant. Would it hurt? Would it be hard to find the perfect wand? Would she get to find her perfect wand? What happened if she didn't?!

She stopped her fretting as Ollivander walked back with a box.

"Let's see…how about this one?"

Ollivander handed her a box and she opened it. She removed the wand and looked at him.

"Just give a little flick."

Katrina did as instructed and sent papers flying.

"Nope."

Ollivander took the wand from her and set it back in the box. He walked over to an aisle in the store and removed another box.

"Here we are."

She took the box and removed the wand from it. She moved her hand and when she did the wand began to glow and she felt a warmth envelop her.

"Well well. Here we are, your perfect wand. Ebony and unicorn hair, eight and a half inches, springy."

Ollivander put it back in the box and her father paid for it and they left the shop.

"Can I get an owl?" Katrina asked as they walked along Diagon Alley.

"Yes,"

Katrina ended up purchasing a Scops Owl, which she named Pip.

Katrina stood in front of her mirror and checked her appearance once more. A pair of dark blue jeans, a white knitted sweater that was just thin enough to not be too warm, but thick enough to keep her warm with any chills, and a pair of black knee high boots. Her hair was falling in waves down her back since she had wanted to wear it differently for today, so she had braided it the night before.

"Okay…I can do this." she muttered.

Today was the day. She was going to be starting Hogwarts. Her father was going to drop her off at the platform, well at the entrance to the platform. He would make sure she got through the barrier before he would Apparate to Hogwarts. He had to get ready for the term.

She looked into her trunk once more before she shut it and locked it. She stroked Pip's head before she shut the cage.

"Time to go, Pip."

"All you have to do is walk or run at that wall right there."

She looked at her father and then at the brick wall that was between Platform Nine and Platform Ten.

"Won't it hurt?"

"No, it won't hurt."

She knew as much since it was magical, but it still was nerve-wracking to have to run towards a wall that looked pretty solid.

Katrina nodded her head and hugged her father.

"I love you, Daddy." she said.

"I love you, too, Rina." he said, hugging her and kissing her hair.

Rina was the nickname he used when he knew she was needing comfort or sometimes it would just slip out.

"I'll see you at school?"

"Yes and remember to address me as Professor when around others."

Katrina smirked. "Of course, we can't have anyone thinking you have a favorite."

His lips class twitched as he kept from smiling.

"Now go, the train will be leaving soon and you need to get boarded."

She nodded her head and with one final glance at her dad, she took her trolley and ran towards the wall. She closed her eyes and when she opened them she was on the platform: Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. The Hogwarts Express was beautiful and many people hustled about, boarding the train, saying goodbye which seemed to be tearful, and some even arguing.

Katrina made her way towards the train and eventually she had everything onto the train. Now she was sitting in a compartment by herself. Well that was until the door opened and a girl poked her head inside. She was slim and her skin fair. She had blonde hair pulled into a neat bun and blue eyes. She was dressed in a pair of jeans and a dark purple blouse with black flats on her feet.

"Do you mind if I sit with you?" she asked.

"No, no. Have a seat." Katrina said, motioning to the empty seats.

"Thank you," the girl said, stepping in and closing the door.

"I'm Daphne Greengrass," she introduced, extending her hand.

"Katrina Snape," Katrina said, shaking her hand.

"It's nice to meet you. Snape? Are you by chance related to Severus Snape?" Daphne asked as she sat.

"He's my father."

"How peculiar. I didn't know he had a child."

"He likes to keep me a secret, I like to believe." Katrina said, with a small laugh.

Daphne laughed. "It would appear so."

During the ride to Hogwarts, Daphne and Katrina spent most of the time talking to one another and eating the snacks they had gotten from the lady who had a trolley full of snacks. They changed into their robes as they got closer and once the train stopped they looked at one another.

"Are you nervous?" Daphne asked as she stood.

"Yes, even though I grew up in the castle. Are you?"

Daphne nodded her head and opened the door.

The two stayed close to one another as they followed all the other first years into boats that they were being instructed to get into.

Even though Katrina lived in the castle her whole life, she was amazed by the outside and seeing it at night. Her dad never allowed her outside when it was nighttime.

They were lead to Professor McGonagall and she lead them into the entrance hall and into an empty chamber. Katrina had always liked Professor McGonagall who was a tall, slender witch. But she had also been busted by the older witch when trying to be where she shouldn't in the past. She would even sometimes see Professor McGonagall going into her classroom as her cat form since she taught Transfigurations.

"Welcome to Hogwarts. I'm Professor McGonagall," she addressed them. "Shortly, you'll pass through these doors and join your classmates at the start-of-term banquet. But before you take your seats you must be sorted into your Houses. They are Gryfindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. While you're here, your House will be like your family. You will have classes with the rest of your House, sleep in your House dormitory, and spend your free time in your House common room. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule breaking and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the House with the most points is awarded the House Cup."

"Trevor!" a boy's voice cried.

A slightly, bigger boy stumbled out from the crowd and snatched up a toad that was at the front, right as Professor McGonagall returned. The boy cowered back into the crowd and she cleared her throat.

"We're ready for you now. Follow me,"

They walked into the Great Hall, where four long tables filled the room with students. The professors and headmaster were at the front of the room behind their table. As they marched along following Professor McGonagall, Katrina heard a girl talking about the ceiling and how it was enchanted to look like the night sky.

Know-it-all, Katrina thought.

They now stood in front of the room where a stool and an old, ratty hat sat. The Sorting Hat that her father had mentioned to her.

"Now, when I call your name, you will come forth. The hat shall be placed on your head while seated and you will be sorted into your Houses. Hannah Abbott." Professor McGonagall said as she unrolled a piece of parchment.

A girl with blonde pigtails stumbled out and made her way to the stool. It must be nerve-wracking to go first.

Professor McGonagall placed the hat on her head and everyone waited.

"HUFFLEPUFF!" the hat shouted after a few moments.

The table to the right of where all the first years were cheered loudly. Hannah smiled before hopping off the stool and running over to the table.

The Sorting continued, two more Hufflepuffs before a boy named Terry Boot was placed into Ravenclaw. The table second from the left clapped as they gained the newest Ravenclaw for the year. More names called and soon a girl named Lavender Brown was the first Gryffindor to be called. The table to the far left cheered as they gained their first newcomer.

"Hermione Granger,"

Katrina watched as a girl with brown bushy hair made her way to the stool, muttering to herself. She sat down on the stool, her fingers holding onto the edge of it. Her nerves clearly showing.

A pause: "GRYFFINDOR!"

She smiled and ran over to the table.

"Daphne Greengrass,"

Daphne looked at Katrina and gave a nervous smile before she made her way to the stool. She sat down and the hat was placed on her head.

A pause: "SLYTHERIN!"

"Neville Longbottom,"

The boy who had grabbed the toad stumbled up to the stool and sat. After a few moments the hat spoke.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

He seemed relieved and went towards the Gryffindor table. He quickly had to run back since he had walked off with the Sorting Hat still upon his head.

"Draco Malfoy,"

A boy with platinum blonde hair that was slicked back took a seat on the stool. The hat had barely grazed his head when it shouted out: "SLYTHERIN!"

"Pansy Parkison,"

A girl with a pug-like face sat on the stool.

"SLYTHERIN!"

She hopped off the stool and strolled over to the table.

"Harry Potter,"

Mummers broke out and excitement could be felt in the room.

So this is the famous Harry Potter. He had vanished from the Wizard World supposedly. The Boy Who Lived…

Wild black hair, thin rimmed glasses, and Katrina could just barely make out the scar that graced his forehead.

Silence filled the air as this seemed to be the longest that the hat had taken tonight with sorting someone. Finally the silence was broken as the hat shouted: "GRYFFINDOR!"

The Gryffindor table went crazy at the news of having Harry Potter.

"WE GOT POTTER!"

"Katrina Snape,"

Mummers once again broke out at the news of a Snape. It wasn't known for Severus Snape to have a child.

Katrina glanced at her dad who gave a nod that was barely noticeable. She swallowed and made her way to the stool. She sat down and the hat was placed on her head.

"Hmm…interesting. Strong, loyal, fierce…a will to prove yourself to those who doubt you. You would do well in any House. Oh how interesting…very interesting…"

She was startled as she heard the voice in her head. So this is how the hat sorted students.

A long pause and Katrina was growing anxious.

"SLYTHERIN!" the hat shouted.

Katrina smiled, glad that she had made it into her father's house. She was also with her new friend, Daphne.

She walked over to the Slytherin table and sat down beside Daphne.

"I'm glad you were sorted into Slytherin." Daphne said.

"Me too,"

"Ronald Weasley,"

A lanky boy with ginger hair walked to the stool.

"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat announced.

A group of gingers stood up from the table and cheered loudly. Obviously, they were related to him.

A boy named Blaise was the last to be sorted and he was put into Slytherin.

A tap on her shoulder made her look over, to come face-to-face with grey, blue eyes. She leaned back slightly to give some distance.

"Kat, right?"

"She glanced at the boy and realized he was named Draco.

"It's Katrina, not Kat." she replied.

"Think I'm gonna call you, Kat."

"I didn't know Snape had a child, let alone a daughter." he commented.

"Not many people do. I'm a secret."

The feast began and Katrina couldn't believe all of the food that was in front of her. She had heard her father mention stories, but seeing it for herself…

"…And finally, I must tell you that the third floor corridor on the right hand is out-of-bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death." Dumbledore said once the feast was over.

Katrina caught her father's eye as she rose from her seat. He gave a small quirk of the lips. He was happy at the choice of her sorting. He was her Head of House for Slytherin and now she would be able to visit him easily, too.
