Age before beauty
War is young men dying and old men talking- Franklin D Roosevelt.
There are many things going through Noah's mind for the past several hours. The bomb at Chaldea before the investigation of this singularity in Fuyuki, the young girl named Mashu suddenly becoming a servant; a Demi-Servant through unknown means. He thought only his former bosses at the Harwey Family were interested in that fruitless endeavor. The next thought was of survival, making sure his nieces Ren and Shiri were kept alive and kicking alongside his current boss Olga. Noah owes her that much and Mashu as well. All these girls, all so young, all so talented needed to be kept safe if not for his own ego and if nothing else saved morals. No matter how twisted, broken and thrown aside those rag doll morals were at this point.
Currently they were at rest in some abandoned building, that would best described worst then a dump and then some. Unlike the rest of the buildings, it was hardly damaged. The only reason Noah could decide for the condition of building was that the corrupted Servants were even disgusted by the shambles.
" Are we really staying here? Isn't there anywhere else?" The current Director of Chaldea says as expected. She is determined to get out and fix the Singularity F they found themselves in. But she was still used to sheltering herself in places like the school building they rested in earlier, still civil enough to sit in at least.
" It stinks in here…" Shiri says pinching her nose dramatically but otherwise sat herself down, making sure her soot covered skirt touched the filth instead of her skin. Her black haired sister decided to stand despite her being the one to ask alongside Olga to sit for a bit.
" Heh, the good thing is no one else wants to be here." The druid, Caster Cu Cuhullin, says as his wooden staff hits the ground. His eyes narrowed at the squalor perhaps considering using his runes to burn the place to the ground. " This is the final time we can rest before going after Saber. So enjoy I guess."
"Er uh ...thank you?" Mashu says, unsure to even thank the Caster for even showing them this place. The demi servant just like Ren decides to stay standing.
" Good enough. I believe in fifteen minutes we can leave and go after Saber." Noah nods, pulling off his Chaldea logo jacket and places it on the floor before signalling at Ren that she can sit down. Seeing that the children were at least somewhat satisfied he turned to the director. " I will be making sure the area is secure."
The Director nods, her eyes showing her nervousness, one of the many reasons Noah likes working for her. She was emotional, sometimes too much so, but unlike most mages she let herself seem human and therefore Noah could see her intentions for what they were. Despite fearing vengeance from Mashu for whatever reason beyond being a test tube child and the burden of being a leader. She was capable and strong despite what she may think of the matter.
"Uncle…" Noah stops at the familiar word of affection turning to look toward Ren, her familiar black hair covering her blue eyes. Despite that her uncle knew the question she wanted to ask but nevertheless waited for several seconds as the socially awkward child asked her question. " Is Arthur a bad person?"
"Of course he is!" Olga proclaims. " He protects the Grail, which is our only way out of Singularity F. Who else is he but a bad person?"
The two girls bristle at the director's words, for more than one reason. They look up to King Arthur and his Knights of The Round Table. If it's one thing they inherited from their mother it would be that love. But currently that love is being questioned.
There is no good or evil in this world. It is the perspective of an individual that decides that. Saints do diabolical things while Demons may very well save cats from trees. So Noah's answer is a question, "Do you think Arthur is a bad person?"
"I don't think so…." Ren shakes her head.
"Maybe he has his reasons." Shiri nods her short orangish red hair bobbing with her.
"He's also a Servant despite it all so maybe someone is making him do this." Mashu supplies, trying to support her new Masters' thought processes. Olga however growls.
"What does it matter? Elimination of Servant Saber is a priority." Olga says with crossed arms, obviously feeling a bit miffed that the pair of Masters and one Servant was seemingly disagreeing with her even with her position.
" Don't worry too much, Director. You'll get wrinkles a lot quicker." Noah decides to joke, getting a glare that told him he was getting a pay cut when he gets back. Knowing that he decides to continue, with knowledge that Olga was more worried about everyone than herself." I will keep my end of the bargain. My words are my bonds."
At this the young girl's expression goes solemn. Noah can't blame her either. The bargain is that he will serve the director, give every drop of blood, every splinter of bones to their cause so long as the children have a future. The reward however includes the keeping of his magic crest for them if it is needed and enough money for if the two wish to go to college. There were numerous sleepy nights in a row along with numerous people wanting and sometimes actually trying to get rid of Noah just because of his….'health' issues not making him Master material, Olga still found a way to keep him here and honor their deal by making him a teacher and a trainer.
Effort is Power, Power is Effort. It is something he constantly repeats in his very soul as it was one of the first things he learned from his father, both a curse and a blessing. He hears how the employees and other mages hate her, how they think she's a figurehead prop used by Lev, her friend and mentor of all people.
The Animusphere of all people just possibly saved people with her orders after finding out about the aftermath in Chaldea, uncaring to the backlash it could have on her reputation and standing among the UN.
That effort and loyalty Olga Animusphere shows him and perhaps all of Chaldea..that is something Noah MacAtter would never betray unless it harmed his family in any way.
He can understand the poor girl that is hiding her true self underneath the facade of anger towards others. After all Noah hates himself for what he has become as well. A used up toy, a knife to be used by others, and a freak of nature to be experimented on who is better off being forgotten. He wouldn't dare voice that, however, to the people who think he is 'kind', 'honorable', 'knightly' or 'heroic' like Ren or Shiri and few others.
"A knight? More like a rabid uncaring beast…"Noah thinks back to the days when he thought he was a good person, a character of his own story and almost releases a hollow laugh that would no doubt make his nieces worry and make Olga question his mental health.
Stepping outside the shelter, Noah looks around. He has the raven feathers and plumes on him and several wolf fangs in his pocket plus that gem that mopey blonde gave him for his services but has been using whatever he can pick up and his bare hands. No M9, no hunting rifle, and no there no other Mystic codes were on his person before he was taken to Singularity F. He was used to the lack of equipment due to his father's wonderful training him till now but considering that he would be supporting Mashu against what may be the worst opponent for them, temporary weapons were needed.
"This will do…and so will you." There wasn't really much among the rubbish outside the beaten building. However a long enough steel chain to wrap around his body and metal rebar is good enough with the use of reinforcement. It won't kill Arthur but it might just buy a second or two.
Looking around some more, Noah finds a metal box, this one seeming more important than the trashed ones he saw before. With some minor curiosity, the redhead opens it, his brown eyes widen in shock for just a moment before a feral grin flashes instantly on his face. " Oh yeah, you'll do just fine."
With a crackle that would make a demon shudder in fear, Noah continues his small trip around the building. The thrill swelling inside him to fight an invincible opponent to modern mages before he stomps it down, as he is not fighting for himself. He thinks back to the fight with Lancer, the familiar snake woman Medusa, and the fight with the Assassin, an equally familiar Old Man of The Mountain and their curious behavior during certain actions and gets an hypothesis. These weapons would work but there is one thing he needs and he will see if Caster might be willing to answer some questions and help with one small thing…
Soon after a quick rest and a run through burned down remains of what seemed to be a Buddhist Temple of some sort came the next obstacle. That obstacle came in the form of the Archer servant. If not for Mashu's quick action in blocking them with her shield everyone would be impaled by them.
" You guys go ahead, I'll take care of him." Caster says before running off toward where the barrage of arrows came from without giving no one a chance to argue with the decision.
Carrying both Ren and Shiri under his arms, Noah runs into the behind Mashu and Olga until there was a safe distance, the sounds of battle fading as they navigate the cavern that hosts the Grail. Setting the children down, the older man notes their fear. Too used to the cruelty of man it is not mere darkness that scares them, but the foreboding feeling of hatred and death that resides in this very tunnel as if it was trying to push the invaders out with just pressure alone. If they don't leave a harsh fate will await them as the broken bones that once belonged to other people attest to.
"Don't look at them like that….they don't need to be humiliated anymore then they have." Noah states as the small children's eyes stare at them. It even gets Mashu's attention as Olga steps ahead without a look.
"What do you mean by humiliating them Sen- I mean Noah?" Mashu asks as Noah tries not to glare at the newly born warrior for her slip of a word. He may be a senior but he's not that great of a senior to learn from. The girl was innocent, naive of the world despite Roman's education and care. With a sigh and a wonder if he should tell the girl why, Noah decides to speak.
"Because you three were looking at them with fear. Seeing them as something broken and useless." Noah does his best to not glare, not wanting to sound chiding but also wanting to look stern. The three were learning a lesson after all. " They have fought hard, endured much, and they fell here. Do not see them as someone to be pitied but someone to respect as they fought for their belief."
"Their beliefs?" Mashu asks, her eyes a mixture of emotions which Noah does not blame her for. She just barely started fighting today after all.
"Is…it because they tried their best? They did everything they could and then some?" Shiri asks, remembering the lesson their Aunt gave them when they first encountered dead bodies in their short lives. "Because if they didn't try hard first we would not be able to get this far?"
"Close enough. We won't have time to bury them either before any of you ask. The quicker we solve Singularity F the sooner all these people will be able to get back to their lives." Noah states, not truly knowing if that was a fact. He paid attention to the lectures involving Singularities but beyond that the more technical details were taken care of by the higher ups. Regardless, the group soon makes themselves silent.
" Are you going to lecture all day Noah MacAtter or can we continue?" Olga Animusphere demands making Noah look toward her as the group continues onward. As they continued onward there was more evidence of fights along the way and more fallen men and women along the way. The redhead could not help but grimace at the sign of a blade, much like a demonic calling carved into the rock in places. Dried blood paints the walls, the destroyed earth, and the dreadful feeling in the air was warning enough but still they pushed though.
Soon a wider room appears to the group, the negative pressure ten folds as they file into the room, it being just as big and wide as any football field or perhaps more. Noah does not get time to examine the room before a voice speaking with authority, interest, and apathy announces itself on the other side of the room. On a higher hill far on the other side of the room a being covered in black armor with golden piercing eyes looks them over, only to stop at Mashu and look her over much like a cat would do with a ball of yarn.
"That's an interesting Servant you got there." The voice sounds feminine but at the same time one could say it was a dragon's rumbling, curious at what foolish creature would dare set in her den. Even Noah could not suppress a shudder. It surprises him more that Ren, ever so meek, of all people decides to speak up.
"Are you Arthur?!" The black haired squeaked loudly, fear is prevalent but in the center there is a modicum of courage, making Noah give a faint smirk of pride as golden eyes narrows down at the young child.
"You are correct, child. It would seem Caster's lips are loose." There is hardly a hint of warmth, each syllable filled with nothing but apathy and perhaps a hint of anger.
"Why are you doing this?" Shiri asks but receives no answer as the black armored servant raises her sword, uncaring for words but actions.
"She doesn't care for your words, Shiri, Ren. If you want the answer you're gonna have to make her speak." Noah says as Olga begins to step back and the girls do much the same. Noah looks towards Mashu as she steps forward slowly, her hesitant steps a far cry from the girl who faced down the Servants and enemies in this burned down rubble of a town. If one looked closely they would see only a scared girl armed in with a shield with trembling shoulders and legs wishing to escape.
"She's not ready despite it all…" Noah confirms knowing that fact since the beginning. Survival and battle are two different things. You do whatever you can to see the next sunrise but war is never ending, corrupting, enjoyable, and unyielding; and to top it all off you sometimes are picking the fight something Mashu is not good at just yet. Turning and lowering himself to the Shielder's ear the old man decides to speak, "Give me a minute, maybe a minute and a half. I'll provide support, you got this Mashu."
"Y-yes Noah!" Mashu's shaky voice showed her fear but nevertheless some confidence was placed knowing she could trust her Masters' family member. Noah would want to say how ironic and desperate that was but he made a promise just as Arthur charged forth much faster than any car and with a forced stronger than any tank with Mashu rushing with shield ready to meet as the earth beneath them cracks and bends from their efforts, forcing all ordinary mortals to hide behind the magic shell that the Director of Chaldea three in front of them, allowing them be shielded by the debris that stormed form the battle.
"I am going to prepare to provide support." Noah states uncaring what anyone thinks about his plan. After all, if anyone was going to die it would be him first. Age before beauty after all. "Stay with the Director, Shiri, Ren.
"Are you really going to provide support?! Are you crazy?" Olga says with a look that was confirming that her employee had turned into a Berserker as the children hiding at her legs were more curious about that statement. However perhaps Noah was not insane as Mashu was mostly on the defensive with her massive shield, unable to strike back as Arthur pounded away on her defense. It was evident that the Saber was just toying with her and more curious on how much of the beating the poor young girl can take.
Taking a breath to contain his nerves, Noah speaks. Uttering the very first poem, the very first prayer he ever learned for a goddess embodying salvation as well as fate and the personification of violence, madness, and fear. Possibly also an evil fairy witch as well, but nevertheless a being that his family looked up to in their pursuit of something natural yet beyond men and their artificialness. His voice is lower than usual filled with hope that Cu would not suddenly appear and kill him for this prayer.
Great Goddess, Morrigan
May your strength shield be between myself and all harm and danger
May your sharp sword be between myself and all who would attack me
May your magical skill be between myself and all ill-will and ill-wishing
Morrigan, Great Goddess,
May your protection be on me today, tomorrow, and forever
It is a prayer of protection but that protection was more for luck than anything. He did not expect any big help from a divine being so far from the homeland he only saw several times. But it helped calm his nerves and center himself as he pulled out the wolf fangs from his pocket and tossed them to the ground.
Wrenched Beast, La Bête de Gévaudan.
Ripper of men, tearer of throats, leaper of great stride.
Winner Of feasts come to me now. For a symbel has been prepared.
Ripe for the picking, the freshest of sustenance, encroacher of your kingdom.
Humanité, foulest of all, is at your doorstep.
A thick shadow forms and consumes the fangs Noah places to the ground growing till it was the size of a horse perfect for riding. It looked canine but it's long tail looked like a demonic creature of a cat, it's fangs white and fierce as drool dropped from its mouth, the moon shaped irises looked at Noah before turning towards the battle ahead and charged while not as fast as the Servants currently battling it was still baffling.
"It will only last for a few seconds, half a minute at the most.Knew I should have gotten some lion fangs before everything." Noah thinks before starting to remove the chain before feeling something thick and wet run down his arm, his hazel eyes catch a small trail of blood, the results of his blood vessels bursting on his arm, a sign that he was pushing his magic circuits already too hard. His fingers feel numb once again, he curls them in annoyance as numbness spreads through his hands ending only by a tingling of pain. "A minor annoyance. Both the beast to Arthur and my usual pain for myself."
Knowing he doesn't have long, Noah gets back to work.
With Mashu now getting a momentary respite due in part from an attack by a French beast, Arthur had a two front attack to deal with allowing the Shielder to attack for once. Regardless it hardly matters the ebony covered king as La Bête de Gévaudan pounced to put the woman in its maw. Arthur simply slides underneath, making the beast and Mashu nearly collide together before spinning in heavy armor as a dark aura forms on the sword called Excalibur and waves it much like a child would when trying to catch a big with a net.
Mashu's wide eyes and Servant nature give her enough time to dive out of the way, barely avoiding the energy that sped over her. La Bête de Gévaudan, however, is soon split in half, its body crumbling away before turning into dust.
"Nice try." The Saber says before going to charge again before a strange device is thrown between the two Servants, making King Arthur curious about the modern device. However Mashu has seen it several times before closing her eyes just in time before the device goes off. A loud sound and a bright white light goes off. Both Servants were temporarily blinded and their ears ringing. Even if it didn't last long compared to normal humans, Arthur managed to feel out something heading towards her neck.
Grabbing it with her empty hand she saw a long chain. Knowing that Noah had a chain on his person she pulled it, thinking that the man would be on the other side of the chain….only to be greeted with a rather large stone made from their battle. It slams into the Saber causing her to shift her stance, unguarded.
"Now kid!" Noah yells and to his relief Mashu hears him and sees enough to understand what is needed. With her shield, the eggplant haired maiden whips Arthur's head with her very large shield, sending her flying several meters before tumbling to a stop on all fours. Both Mashu and Noah were about to charge forward before the immense black aura coming from Arthur intensifies making both stop as the king rises, the stoic look on her pale face shifting to one to annoyance as she wipes blood from the split lip she just received moments ago. Her yellow eyes narrowed into slits and stares down at Noah, marking him as the main target.
"Ah shit." Noah just manages to utter out. Mashu too realizes the Saber's intent as she moves to intercept the moving Servant. However the speed is far different before the dark aura came off the pale blonde, easily knocking the wind out of Mahsu's sails with a quick strike to the side with the hilt of Excalibur, leaving the poor Shielder to struggle for air.
As for Noah, he knew running wouldn't help him nor would yelling. He also had no time to use any magecraft due to the speed of his opponent. So he did the only magecraft he could do in the short amount of time before King Arthur would be cutting him to ribbons.
It is called Fist.
With a yell he drew his fist back and launched it toward the king, only to have it caught easily. It is ironic as well to Noah as he expected his entire arm to cut in half but instead he felt the armored palm that caught his fist. He stares in mute wonder for a few seconds as Arthur's golden eyes stare at him. " So is this your hobby or something? Because I'm not really a fan of holding hands with a thousand or so year old hag of a woman I hardly know and is trying to kill me."
Noah has been told numerous times to learn to watch his mouth. From Lucy to a literal Superman of a knight powered by the sun.
If you can't hurt them? Might as well piss them off.
"Not at all, I just find you not worth staining my blade." Arthur says with a polite smile that hints what's to come as Noah feels his arm being pulled back with more strength then a normal human; his arm groans as the skin tears, the sound of wood being sickeningly broken as meat and bone give way as Noah's entire arm is ripped from his body from his shoulder down. "The people who came here may have needed culling but you do not wish to receive that swift succor from such a hag of a woman correct?"
Noah yells in pain as he collapses on his knee. He is used to such, due to his father being such a wonderful person. Sometimes it was the arms, his fingers, maybe his legs or toes. Once in a while his guts but never the lungs, head, or heart. At least father dearest cared enough to not kill him.But it doesn't make him any less used to it as Arthur drops his disconnected arm with a meaty slap to the ground. " God damn it!"
Noah can hear Mashu and Olga Animusphere yelling his name in worry and sympathy as Arthur slowly raises her enclosed hand, intent on smashing his head into a puddle next. Ren and Shiri were silent in fear of the brutality. Mashu would not make it in time. However Noah had a plan, even if it was not supposed to result in his arm being pulled off like a doll. With his remaining arm Noah presses the ground hard, using magecraft to the rebar he set down some time back as it launches much like a rocket from the stone he swifty carved it into the rock. The rebar goes barely over Noah's head and slams harmless against Arthur's backhand swipe with her sword as it is slapped away, embedding itself into the stone debris nearby.
It was not much but it allowed Noah to grab his poor arm and jump back from Excalibur's range, not that it would help if the owner of the sword came after him again. The sound of crackling and snapping is heard as both arm and shoulder are pushed together. As he does this Mashu charges towards the pair as the King of Knights stares in curiosity as the torn prices of meat meet and put themselves together as Noah sighs heavily as the pain ends as a numb sensation is felt from his restored limb as it hangs limply at his side. "What are you?"
The king's curiosity was verbally asked so Noah at least felt the need to answer as Mashu jumped, intent on slamming the Saber over the head. "I'm quite the pretender."
It was true yet not as he is seen as human. He was born as such. Yet, no normal human, even magi, could reattach their limbs or slowly regain what they lost bodily fluids and parts wise with the right materials. Only a weapon pretending to be human, something made by humans could do that.
Only a true tyrant or an unfeeling god could make something like him.
Mashu's shield is quickly blocked by Arthur causing the poor girl to fly backwards once again. It has the fortunate effect of drawing the battle away from Noah as he tastes iron in mouth as he spits it out on the ruined earth to see blood. It confuses him momentarily before the redhead truly looks at his condition feeling the weakness of his body as blood goes down his arms especially the one that was torn off and hastily reattached. A thick puddle of blood where his arm was ripped off is in his hazel eyes. The act of trying to get off his knees is not possible as he nearly collapses like an old tree.
"Can't rise….but I can still act." Noah looks around, seeing no sign of Ireland's Child of Light but he does see the immense worry and tears of the two children he calls nieces, kept back by the Director of Chaldea. He would say their worries would be unfounded and if he knew he had an alternative he would gladly stand down and let Mashu take care of the rest of this. But Mashu is not ready for this and neither is Shiri or Ren. Perhaps Olga Animusphere was but she has her hands full. With a resign sigh Noah turns toward the battle, Mashu is doing better now, perhaps realizing that she is truly the last one standing. " You damn brats work my ass too hard."
Thus Noah uses his next to last poem his next to last magecraft:
Holder of life, Exhibition of effort.
We behold you but never care of your exertion.
However this day as I spill you to the ground, let life give to death unto life this day.
Wicked Fuil, Noble Fuil, Horrid Fuil, Lucky Fuil.
Grant me the bounty for these lives to continue.
As Noah finishes the magecraft he can feel his magecraft working as he feels dizzy. His fuil, his blood is being converted to power. It won't end until he releases it or literally dies from not having a drop of blood in his body. But that is fine, for a moment, he knows he's doing the right thing for once without question. The 'Geass' that his former employers gave him may have made him unable to do a lot of things but this is not one of them. Though he knows his comrades, his family , and everyone he knows would be kicking his ass right now.
However for now Noah as a person doesn't mind that as there is something more important at his predicament it is in those innocent pair of eyes that he will never see perhaps again. Taking out all the raven feathers he has on hand and pouring the corrupted earth nearby on them he throws them as high as he can as he speaks his final poem.
Treachery we commit in our name, war is our game.
Rave, as we do in life as we know the futilely of our life, our destiny in your eyes. What husks we leave behind as we lay with our truth and lies.
Unkindness we sometimes leave, hope and lessons we breathe.
Conspiracy we leave in life and death, all equal and shaped.
Flock we warriors do to you, to amass our offering to you as we fall forevermore Morrigan.
The numerous feathers become live ravens that fly as high as possible as the cavern allows, which is quite high for a supposed natural hole in the ground. They are unnoticed by the Servants battling below them. Noah almost releases it but he needs an opening that won't involve Mashu and leaves Arthur open to attack. Perhaps due to the his prior prayer or maybe due to something awakening in Mashu their chance comes as Mashu for once attacks after blocking the blade before placing the massive shield and delivering a kick, while blocked by the empty arm of Arthur flings the king back enough. In the area of his ravens and barely out of reach for Mashu.
"Fall." Noah says as he places his good arm towards the ground as the ravens fall, their black forms shifting from birds to something narrower, thinner, and just as deadly. Black needles that fall like rain shower the area where Arthur is blocking the King of Knights of form view, the stroic expression being blacked out by the needles that fall and turn into black vapor.
"It killed an immortal child abusing cesspool of a worm-man. Not sure if it will really hurt a Servant with magic resistance normally. But it should serve as a deterrent." Noah thinks, going back to the memory of when he asked Cu his question, if whatever tainted and turned the Servants to their current shape spread across town.
It did, especially in the cave where the Grail was housed, spread its ichor, and corrupted Arthur to her current state. The very abyss they were in.
His next question was answered with a grimace of annoyance at such an easy fact. If that is true why the Servants were so reactive against the object?
Because Servants were made by magical energy and they could still be harmed in a small way. Their altered bodies were now more attuned to the present world, they used more energy. They still needed to be harmed with something with enough magical energy. To kill them they would need more mystery.
Basically, they were once human. These heroes should react if one tries to poke their eyes out, even if it would not really work.
But it still meant he could harm or slow the black knight trying to kill them.
"Mange de la merde your majesty."" Noah says as his balance and his eyesight start to feel off. His one good arm feels weak as he slowly collapses into a pool of his own vaporizing blood. He hangs on several seconds more, staring at his spell as it continues as his vision fades.
Everything goes black.
Noah does not expect to wake again. Nor does he expect to wake up in a bed in a very familiar room.
He also does not expect the true culprit is also the very same one Olga considered the friend….or the Director's horrible fate. The true impact of this…Grand Order fails to reach Noah's ears as he starts to feel sleepy. Unable to stay awake much longer from Roman's explanation he falls asleep once more.
A heavy weight makes Noah wake up, as he feels a foot go into his face. He almost smacks it away, if not for realizing exactly who was kicking him. The beeping of the machine that watches his pluse distracts him momentarily. Red orangish hair greets his vision, with cute pinchable cheeks and short limbs that betray youthfulness that cling to his leg like heavy lead. Taking a look around with his hazel eyes, Noah sees another child with her long black hair undone for once laying on the couch sound asleep. Both were in PJs of their favorite colors. The faint sound of snoring from Shiri and the rhythm of Ren's breathing is all Noah needs to know that they are fast asleep. The strange creature named Fou is curled up nearby, seemingly asleep.
Planning to escape his prison Noah starts to remove the IV in his arm just as he hears the door creak open, being careful to not wake the occupants of the room, long black hair and a build of a woman lets him know that it is not Roman.
"Are they still asleep?" The woman's green eyes look over as she silently steps in. Her tanner skin and officer outfit has some marks and scars on it but Noah recognizes the person even if they barely spoke. One of the members of the UN that stays at Cladea to make sure there was no rule breaking and passing along the United Nations wants and needs. The rich Latino accent made it easy to find among a crowd but in the room of law and rules there is no one more fearsome.
However that is not why Noah finds her fearsome. It is an immense like for cats the woman has and the immense dislike for cats Noah has. The monster was always around her somehow save during official meetings making the redhead tto avoid her as much as possible, never knowing the cat lover's name due to that.
"Damn it the furball survived the attack." Noah thinks with disdain seeing the black cat in the woman's arms as she sets it on a clear desk. "What are you doing here?"
"It may not look like it but I do also have a nursing degree. Since most of the staff has
been KIA or currently helping the new director of Chaldea setting up I was asked to check on you." The supposed Nurse says with a smile. "And to make sure you stay in bed for one more day."
"I feel good enough to go and start helping out." Noah whines as he works on tenderly removing Shiri's vice grip on his leg. He hears her groan and holds him ever tighter. Shiri is always the one who needed to cling to something to sleep and getting her to let go would be equal to Heracles' Twelve Labors. With a sigh Noah gives up for the moment, hoping the child would somehow roll and cling to the rail of his bed instead. With the UN officer's hand pushing him down Noah finds himself easily pinned in place, unable to fight back. Wetting his lips, Noah decides to play nice, " So I'm guessing alot people are…gone."
"Yes and all the other Masters are as well. Save two. Perhaps two and a half. And humanity has been burned away…nothing exists outside Chaldea's shield save destruction." The woman says with a brow raise." Director Roman didn't explain all this."
"Beyond me waking up and explaining we were bombed and the previous director was dead plus seven Singularities. I fainted after Roman told me he was the new director." Noah says truthfully but it gets the UN officer to laugh lightly. Anyone would faint if someone like Roman, who loves idols and honestly laid back suddenly became leader of an important organization. " So I'm guessing that two and half are Wodime and Ophelia. Plus half of Beryl?"
"No." The woman shakes her hand as the cat purrs under her light petting. As long as the household from doesn't get close to him, Noah is satisfied.
"Kadoc and good that named himself Italian hot peppers? Plus half of Beryl?" Noah's hazel eyes narrow, having a good idea where the answers would be.
"No."
"Akuta, Daybit, and half of Beryl?"
"What is with you and why do you want half of that man?" The UN officer's stare becomes strange as if Noah was crazy.
"Because I fudging deserve something nice today after all this shi….stuff." Noah stops himself, even if the girls are asleep he rather them not start copying his curses. Good thing he has already modified the major F word so far." Let me guess, it's us three."
"Got it in one." The woman nods with a sad smile as Noah frowns. Noah pauses waiting for the woman to beg him to allow the children to fight for humanity's future or how they were going to force them to fight. However, nothing came.
"You are not going to tell me how it's my responsibility to fight? Or how I should be forcing them to fight back for humanity's sale? No UN soldiers to force me to your will?" Noah says his voice dripping in disgust and hate, he refuses to trust the UN. Mostly because they swept his evidence of a corrupt and growing plutocracy for the 'greater good'."
"I honestly would do that if I could. But sadly I'm the only person aligned with the UN to survive the bombing. I'm not Master material either yet alone Rayshifting." The woman states sadly, her green eyes seem pleading. "But for our, the survivors' sake, for the children's own sake they should."
"Their sake….? It is better than being in a cage I suppose." Noah says knowing that despite surviving the burning of humanity Chaldea is unlikely to last forever. Also Rem and Shiri would more or less likely do it if asked, being a tad too nice about it in his experience. It's far better then being caged in a jar for whoever is doing this. However, they have seen the world, but not through Noah's eyes but their own. If they go through this journey they may as well no longer be innocent. It leaves Noah with a mixture of failure and pride. He wants them to stay as they are. But the world and mankind are cruel and both of them standing against it feels good to him. Especially with humans with their prejudice and stupidity." I'm more surprised you are not telling me to do this for humanity."
"...I've read your file. I have a good idea of what you think of humanity." The woman states, her mood somber as even her petting the cat does not ease her mood. Yes he may threaten and maim fools and kill child abusers cruelly and very slowly but it was not like he hates humanity fully, they have destroyed this planet for the past several hundred years and now they are trying to do something about it. Only a few however are making an effort to improve themselves… the rest is nothing more than waste in his mind.
"If I could I would drag everyone in the filth. Let them go hungry, let them struggle for something. But if I do that…." Noah pauses thinking about Ren and Shiri. They are not strong and it's hard to imagine the girls going through what he did. It's tough but he drags those thoughts beneath the surface of his mind. But still they rise to the surface like a whale coming for air.
The thought of making people start over with nothing more than bonds and bloodshed so they can understand and improve themselves, just like he did, assails his mind like an old scar itching. It takes half a minute to compose his thoughts to explain his mindset on people.
" I hate humanity…as a whole that is. Especially in this modern times where an unknown amount of people just take and earn without thinking about the future. I used to be a soldier and honestly I don't know why I fought for everyone in those days. These days…. I'm a warrior, someone who fights for his own glory and pride." Noah says as he feels Shiri's vicegrip loosen, making him rub her red hair softly as the grip retightens, as the girl smiles faintly. "Money, power, protection, and dreams. Most people beg for it while not searching for it or knowing the weight. They just exist and consume until they die. But I don't hate individuals unless they earn it though. I see humanity as a large lump of coal and buried in tar. Individuals I see as jewels. Whether they shine or not though the filth depends on them. The ones that shine from the bottom of the pit I'll gladly defend and save."
" I don't understand why you think that way." The woman sits down, knowing that this chat between people on different views may take awhile. But the officer doesn't mind much, in fact she seem interested. It makes Noah smile faintly as it reminds him just slightly how he would be laying in a bed with a certain someone, also with long black hair, waiting for him to wake up then talking to him for hours until he decided to rest some more , or have a bullet put in his lap.
"What is your name?" Noah says as he slowly sits up, his back creaking as he moves his bandaged limb forward for a handshake. Despite knowing there is large hurdle, greater than any would imagine, Noah feels peace in this moment and he's going to enjoy it. At least until the next job comes knocking.
" It's Camila De León." The womsm extends her hand as they shake. The creaking of wood and flesh is heard as Noah withdraws his arm back, noting Camila's raising brow at the sounds of Noah's body.
"It's quite simple, Ms. De León. Effort is Power….Power is effort. Even with the small things, they can become big things that change everything." Noah says to keep the subject not on his body but his thoughts process. He feels like an old man for once as he begins to talk, no lecture, but he is relaxed for now as he begins to plan on how to really get back on the front lines.
He won't allow the children to face this by themselves without someone more experienced as a Master nearby. The old men must go first before the youths takes on such heavy burdens. Show them how it is done. But, that requires him to figure out how to summon a Servant without losing a contract because he himself cannot help supply the existence. But he has some ideas….

I will add more to this supplement at a time. But they will not truly be in chronological order for many reasons. The main reason is to explain Noah more as in how he thinks and acts with and without Ren and Shiri are around as well his experiences. So look forward to it.
Next chapter will be worked on once the next chapter of How to Smile is worked on.
