Olivia stumbled out of bed to the bathroom. Elliot quickly followed as soon as he heard her throwing up. He knelt behind her, rubbing her back gently with one hand as he held her hair back with his other hand. "Sorry, babe," he told her, when she finally sat up, pale and teary-eyed. He handed her a glass of water, and as she sipped it gingerly, he asked, "you want to take a pregnancy test?"

"I don't know," she whispered. "I'm so tired of hoping and then getting my period or having them turn out negative."

"I know you are, but this is the third morning in a row that you've thrown up. You've never thrown up before."

"I'm only a week late."

"That's long enough for it to be accurate, right?"

"Yeah. I want to do it. Not knowing is worse."

He left the bathroom and came back with three pregnancy tests. She looked at him quizzically. "I got them after you threw up Tuesday," he admitted.

They sat restlessly in the bathroom, waiting for the timer on Elliot's phone to go off, but it still startled them when it finally dinged. Olivia grabbed the test but didn't look until they could both see it.

Then she started sobbing, and he pulled her into his arms. "I was so sure this time," she cried.

"I know, babe. I was sure too." He glanced down at the test again and frowned. "Liv, there is a second line, it's just faint."

"For the ovulation tests, a faint line doesn't matter."

"Have you ever read the directions for the pregnancy tests?"

"No. Have you?"

"No." He grabbed the box, and took out the instructions. He scanned them, then beamed at her. "A faint line still means positive!"

"You sure?"

"Here, look." He showed her the directions. She read them three times. Then she started sobbing again and laughing at the same time.

"How did we never read the directions the last 8 times we've done this?"

"I don't know. It's been a long time since Kathy was pregnant with the twins."

"We can't ever tell anyone we didn't know how to read the pregnancy test, okay?"

"God, no. We'd never live it down. Maybe we'll tell the baby some day, when they're older."

"The baby," she said, and her face lit up. "We're finally having a baby."

"It's true what they say. You really are glowing, Liv. I love you."

She leaned over, and they kissed passionately on the bathroom floor. "I love you too." She grinned at him. "You know, we get to have sex just for fun again, without timing my ovulation." He grinned back. "It's only 5:45. Neither of us is on duty until 8:30."
