Elliot carried Nora, who was nestled in her car seat, into their apartment. "Lie down," he said firmly to Olivia, who looked slightly pale.

"I can't believe I'm this exhausted," Liv admitted. "All I did was walk into the building."

"And give birth two days ago," Elliot added dryly. "This is the first time you've been up and moving around for more than a few minutes. Do you want to nap?"

Olivia looked at her watch. "There is still two hours until I need to nurse, so yes." Elliot helped her settle into bed and kissed her cheek. "Sleep well, babe. I'll wake you in 2 hours."

He moved Nora, who was still asleep, into the bassinet in the family room, so he could be closer to her while he unpacked everything from the hospital and started a load of wash. He then made chicken, a simple pasta dish and a salad, wanting to get as much done as possible while Nora and Olivia were both asleep.

He was about to wake Nora up when he heard her tiny whimpers. "Hi, Nora," he cooed at her. "Ready for some milk? Let's get you changed and take you to your mama."

Ellliot carried Nora into the bedroom and gently woke Liv. "I think someone's ready to eat," he told her, smiling at Liv as she stretched. Do you want to nurse here or in the rocking chair?" he asked.

"I think on the bed," she responded. That's how I'm used to doing it from the hospital." Elliot helped her get pillows set up and brought over the boppy. Nora was making little smacking sounds with her lips. Liv had had trouble nursing at first, and the lactation consultant had met with her several times in the hospital, but she was nervous about nursing without the lactation consultant or nurse to help.

"She latched on right away this time," Olivia said in relief.

"Looks like someone's getting the hang of it," he said, smiling at Nora. "You want company while you nurse?"

"Yes," she answered gratefully. "It's good to be home."

"She nursed for almost ten minutes on each side," Elliot told Liv. "You're doing a great job." Elliot held Nora and patted her back gently until she burped. "Nora and I have a present for you," he told Liv.

"You do, do you?" she asked, holding Nora while Elliot went to get it. "Did you pick it out, owlet?"

He handed her a small jewelry box. She opened it curiously to find a delicate 'N' pendant on a gold chain.

"It's perfect, El," Liv murmured. "Thank you."

"We love you," he told her. "Don't forget it's from Nora, too. It's her first present for her mama."

"Thank you, sweet girl," Olivia said, nuzzling Nora's fuzzy dark hair.
