Chapter 25: Draco's thoughts on Lucianna and Love

Draco had just left Lucianna when he started thinking "man she was beautiful I wish I knew if she liked me or something. Wait a minute Draco stop that man you know what your mom told you about girls."

Flashback:

"Mom (Narcissa Malfoy) I think that I am in love with this new girl in Hogwarts what do you think I should do about it?" Draco said as he was walking around the grounds with his mother on one of her visits to see him.

Narcissa smiled and said "that is great sweetie how long have you known this girl or talked to her about her life?"

Draco sighed and said "I haven't done any of that she is just so pretty and I know that I love her so much and that if I can win her she will love me without a doubt."

Narcissa listened and said "so you don't know anything about this girl. What is her family like? She is loyal to that bastard Voldemort? Is she in love with somebody (after all some families do arrange marriages)? What was her childhood? Or anything along those lines about her life before coming to Hogwarts."

Draco nodded and said "yeah mom that is not a problem."

Narcissa said "honey I am sorry to say this but then you are not in love with her. Love is a progression of truly knowing somebody it takes time before you will truly be in love with somebody before you can safely say that you are in love with that person, and if you know nothing about the person then you are only infatuated with her and not truly in love with her. Do you understand?"

Draco sighed and nodded and said "yes mom you are probably right but God she is so hot."

Narcissa said "well Draco you thought: Hermione Granger, Susan Bones, Pansy Parkinson, Luna Lovegood, Ginny Weasley, Lavender Brown, Parvati and Padma Patil and that is all in just 2 years Draco. Draco I think you should wait I promise that someday you are going to find the true love of your life and when you do you will know that you love her."

Draco merely nodded and they walked in silence for the rest of his mother's visit.

End Flashback:

Draco smiled at the memory and said "I am going to wait I am in no rush to find love this time and my mother was right I did not truly love any of those girls and I just met Lucianna and am going to try and just have a friendship with her it will be a first for me as I don't have female friends other than my sister."

Draco continued his walk to his home thinking of his friendship with the new girl.

Draco thought about what love meant to him and was thinking, "I do not want somebody who loves me for my money or what I can give them. I want somebody that loves me as a person and I want somebody who I can be at my worst and can call me on my bullshit (the same as my sister can) and still knows that I can be what that person wants me to be even if at times we do have to fight each other on our views and ideas. I want somebody opinionated and who believes in what they say, and I want to have someone who knows they can count on me to be their for them and I want them to be their for me."

Draco continued on his walk home thinking, " is that to much to ask out of immortality?"

As Draco walked Lucianna suddenly returned and confronted him on some things. Lucianna said, "hey I want some answers to my questions: 1. Are you interested in me at all because I am not going to break up a relationship between you and a girl that you left behind?"

Draco was startled by this and said, "Yes I like you and no I am not seeing anybody, but let me explain I recently lost someone I was deeply in love with during the war with Voldemort, and since it is so fresh for me I am not wanting to start something just yet. I need to put that relationship totally behind me before I start dating somebody else."

Lucianna nodded and said, "OK I understand that."

Lucianna then said, My next question is: Who was she I mean I want to know everything about her you feel comfortable sharing so I can help you to heal?"

Draco smiled and said, "her name was Hermione Granger. I met her when we were 11 years old, and at the time I was a bit of a prat to her I treated her as less than garbage and that stayed that way for several years. When I found out I had a sister, and my sister and Hermione were very good friends I started to change mostly so I could try and be a somewhat decent brother to my sister."

Lucianna nodded and indicated for him to continue.

Draco said, "this was the way of things until we started hunting for magical items called Horcruxes and she and I started to grow closer and when we finally got to gather with each other it was the best moment of my life, but sadly she died in the final battle and her body was never recovered so I am not able to get closure for that. I know I loved her but I feel right now that the most I could even offer you is friendship I hope that is OK."

Lucianna smiled and said, "I just wanted to know where I might stand, and yes I can be your friend and hopefully if the time comes for us maybe I can be more down the road."
