Nora woke up the next morning with a low-grade fever, and though still not completely herself, she was able to nurse and seemed much more comfortable than the day before. Both her parents were relieved to see her getting better, and Elliot got ready for work. "I wish I could spend another day with you and Nora," he told Liv reluctantly.

"I know you do, but they need you today and she's doing so much better," Liv responded. "I promise I'll text you updates of how she's doing."

"Feel better, Nora," he said, kissing her forehead. "I love you, sweetie."

"I love you Liv," he said.

"Love you too, El."

Nora still mostly wanted to be held, so Liv spent most of the day sitting with her in the rocking chair or on the couch. Nora seemed to like the medicine, and continued to take it without a problem, much to Liv's relief. She texted Elliot frequently, knowing he was worried about their daughter. Nora, who still seemed exhausted from her illness, took long naps, and Liv, who was also exhausted, was able to rest.

By the time Elliot got home, Nora's fever was gone, and she seemed a little more like herself.

"How do you feel, Nora?" Elliot asked, as soon as he came in. "I heard you don't have a fever anymore." Nora smiled at him.

"I'm so glad you're starting to feel better, love," he told her picking her up. "I missed you today. I got you a present on the way home," he told her, "to help you feel better." He walked over to the counter holding her and brought out a brightly colored ball with holes, to make it easier for her to grasp. Nora, who had just started being able to grasp things, grabbed it and seemed surprised when the little balls inside a few filled holes rattled. She moved her hand and watched in surprise as it continued to make noise. Both Elliot and Liv laughed, watching her.

"What a great present," Liv told him.

"My mom would bring us little toys when we were sick," he responded. "I thought you deserved a present too. You spent so much time yesterday and today holding and soothing her." He brought her a small gift bag with bath salts and a candle.

"I thought you could take a long bath and Nora and I could have some Daddy time," he suggested.

"Thank you," Liv said, hugging him. She came out of the bath feeling refreshed and more relaxed.

"Good timing," Elliot told her. "Someone is getting sleepy."

Liv nursed Nora, and Elliot rocked her before putting her in her crib. "Good-night Nora. I'm so glad your ear is getting better," he told her, leaning down to kiss her. Nora smiled sleepily at him, then put her thumb in her mouth and fell asleep.

Elliot and Olivia, still exhausted from the day before, ate dinner and went to sleep early too.
