Chapter Two
"Miss me already, jackass?" Abby Harver picked up her vibrating phone, careful to keep her voice low, as she was in the public library.
"Hey I know you're busy but, I have some news and I wanted to tell you do you weren't unaware. Lulu called me, she's headed to Maine on a plane right now and she's gonna be staying with us until she finds a place. Are you gonna be alright?" Johnny hoped there would be no drama.
"THE Lulu? Are you kidding me? Why would I have any issues, finally another woman around! This is going to be fun! When is she getting here?" Abby all but bubbled over in excitement.
"See? I knew you wouldn't have a problem! Yes, the very same…I can't believe she's actually going to be here. I mean, it's been three and a half years since I've even been in the same room as her…I can't say that I won't stare at her when she gets off that plane. I was scrolling through Instagram and, my god Abby…she's only gotten more beautiful with age. Lulu gets in at seven tonight, I'm going to pick her up. I'm nervous and excited at the same time." Johnny spoke a mile a minute.
"I can't wait to meet her. Oh Johnny you'll be fine, trust me. Okay so, I'll come home from work at about 5:30 and clean the place. What does she like to eat? Because I know she'll be hungry once she gets off the plane. Jet lagged as hell too." The wheels in Abby's mind were already turning…wanting to make things as special as possible.
"I'm sure you two will love each other. Lulu's not picky but, her favorite thing in the world is pizza. I remember our first anniversary we had made this reservation at a fancy restaurant-Lulu comes home from work literally almost crying because her heels were killing her, and she said that she didn't feel like going anywhere. Basically, her boss made her feel like shit the entire day and she was over it. So, I canceled the reservation without telling her…ordered us a pizza and bought a case of beer. After that she was much happier…she really is a homebody." Johnny chuckled at the memory, wondering how much Lulu had changed.
"Oh shit, I've got a lecture in twenty minutes. I'll text you in a hour or two." Johnny winced, he hadn't even left the house yet.
"She sounds wonderful, talk to you soon." Abby hung up, feeling significantly better about her day.
