Vylma didn't stay around to kill Grimmel right there on the spot. Instead she ran to Brie and they flew right towards the red death. The closer they came, the more Vylma felt sick to her stomach.
The wounds that covered Delias body were sickening and her eyes were completely white, making her blind.
Gods this was harder than Vylma thought it would be. If Delia couldn't see that it was her, then she hoped she could hear her. Vylma prayed Delia hadn't forgotten her voice or that she was deaf. She also saw that her wings were chopt in half, making it impossible for her to fly.
Vylma didn't know how Grimmel found her or how he even got her here, but Vylma didn't care right now. Now she needed to make sure that Delia wouldn't start firing at the ships or the island and kill everyone.
Delia swung her head back and forward in fear. She probably didn't know where she was or what was happening around her. Afraid and lost, she roared. Making the nearest boats rock in the water.
Brie saw it coming and flew left to avoid the powerful air and being knocked down from the sky. Vylma leaned down in the saddle and pressed her eyes close shut when Delia opened her mouth. Vylma was glad when she heard Brie close her giant jaws.
When Vylma opened her eyes, they fell on the soft spot in the middle of Delias back. The spot that maybe could kill her without the need of shooting fire in her mouth. Vylma didn't want to do what her dad did and may lose a leg. No, she needed to try the soft spot first. And time was not on her side. Delia could fire any second and burn every ship to ashes and burn her people alive.
Vylma took out the sword Alvar had given her from the sheath that held it. "Okay, Brie. Fly down as close to her back as you can and I'll jump down. I want you to fly away from here before she falls over. I don't want you to be crushed."
Brie squawked worried but flew down close enough for Vylma to jump down. The sound of a night fury was heard, but Vylma didn't have time to think about that now.
"Go! I'll be fine!" she yelled at Brie, who looked at her with worry but obeyed.
Vylma slowly walked on Brie's back. She knew where the spot was and it didn't take long before she found it.
She raised the sword high and bit her lip. The sound of Toothless was closer and Vylma took a deep breath and stabbed the sword right into the spot. Vylma held the sword handle tight when Delia roared and lost the feeling in her legs under her. Delia fell to her left side, down to the ice that didn't hold her weight. Making Delia sliding straight into the sea.
The sword handle started to get wet and at first Vylma didn't know if it was her sweat or Delias blood, but Vylma didn't care. Tears ran down her cheeks and she started to shake a little. A sob escaped her and she felt her body going sideways, down together with Delia.
She was losing her grip when she felt herself going up. Toothless had grabbed her. Saving her from falling down into the water.
Vylma felt snow under her and she stood with her hands on her knees. Seeing that her hands were covered in both sweat and Delias blood, she let her knees slam into the ground and she started to rub her hands against the cold snow, trying to get the blood off her.
Hiccup ran to Vylma, panicking of what he just saw her do but also from seeing a red death for the second time.
He and the rest of Berk had stood frozen in shock when the red death had come out of nowhere and started roaring. Hiccup's brain started to remind him of what had happened when he was 15 and went against this species. He had felt Toothless tense under him and they both knew what needed to be done to get rid of the dragon.
It hadn't been until they saw a nadder with a human on it when Hiccup and Toothless realized what was going on.
Vylma and Brie were up there, probably trying to get the dragon in control or something. Hiccup didn't care what could happen to him, his daughter was up there with a dragon that couldn't be tamed or reasoned with. Toothless flew fast and went into alpha mode to try to get control of the big dragon, but then they saw Vylma raise a sword and Toothless roared.
It didn't stop Vylma from stabbing the red death in its back and somehow made the dragon fall.
And now Vylma sat in the snow, desperately trying to clean her hands and Hiccup pulled her up. Wanted to check her whole body for any injuries. "Are you hurt?" he asked and swept his eyes over her.
She shook her head and twirled her hands together, still trying to get the blood off her. "No, I-I just killed a… dragon for the second time and I need to see if any of my ships have tipped over from the waves Delia created and…"
Yelling and swords being drawn was heard and both the chief and queen snapped their heads towards the ships and the island. The battle was on and they both were needed on the battlefield.
Hiccup turned his attention back to Vylma and grabbed her upper arms, getting her attention. "I'm so sorry for what happened yesterday and I hope you one day can forgive me." Vylma stared at him and heard Brie landing beside Toothless. "We need to talk about it, but right now isn't the time. You have your army to lead and I have mine-"
"So let's kick Grimmels ass and win this war." Vylma finished for him and felt a smile coming up. She felt a confident rise inside her.
Hiccup nodded and let Vylma go.
She ran to Brie and jumped on her back, flying right into the battle.
Toothless walked to Hiccup and made a rumble. Hiccup laid a hand on the dragon's head. "Let's go, bud. We have a war to win."
Toothless growled and made his body glow blue. The alpha mode was on.
