Another man was knocked down by Thora's sword. Only eight more to go and this ship was empty of Grimmels soldiers.

The ship had been the closest from land and she, Brant, Ray and Nightmary tried to keep these soldiers from stepping a foot on shore. The two ships that laid beside this one had already been emptied and the people of Berk were already in the middle of fighting them off on land.

Thora heard Ray roar and fire was blasted behind her. Thora didn't even turn to see what or who she had fired at, because a woman ran towards her with a battle cry and her axe ready to strike her down. The block was easy for Thora, but felt the woman's strength was stronger than hers. Thora felt her knees buckle under her, but she was not giving up.

Thora pushed the axe away with all her strength and moved fast to the left and swinged at the woman's head with speed. The woman turned her head just in time for Thoras sword to slice her across the face. Blood poured from the deep wound and the woman screamed in pain, dropping her axe and clenching her face as she fell down on her knees.

Thora didn't have time to see or reflect on what she had done because another of Grimmels' soldiers came her way.

Seven more to go, she thought. Or she thought because she didn't know if her brother had taken anyone down or if any of their dragons had.

The man ran towards her, but stopped suddenly when an arrow came from behind her and right into his throat. He fell backwards as blood came pouring out around the arrow. Thora made a grimash and looked away. She had no problem seeing blood, but seeing someone gagging or hearing that sound, made her stomach turn.

"Hey, Thora." She turned around and saw her brother sitting on Nightmarys back with a bow in his hand. Her own dragon, Ray, stood beside them "We better get out of here before this ship sinks."

Thora looked around her and saw that the ship was in flames. Blood was on the wooden deck and the air smelled burned hair and sea water. The woman that had her face sliced open by Thora, laid motions less with her head right into the fire. Swords against swords and dragons firing was heard and the yells and screams from humans around them.

Thora nodded to her brother and jumped on Ray's back, ready to take down another ship.

"COME ON!" Leif yelled over the sound of everything that was happening around him. His axe was raised and two men came running towards him with a grin on their faces.

The two men hit from both left and right with their swords, but Leif only had to pay attention to the man to his left. He swung his axe right in the man's face and while the man on his right thought he had this Berkian, a blonde haired girl came with her spear, hitting him in his back having no chance to hit the boy.

Frida grabbed the spear and with the help of putting her foot beside the wound the spear had caused she pulled it out of the man's back.

Leif ran away yelling a battle cry with his axe raised towards another enemy and left Frida. Frida didn't care and spinned around and was met with three of Grimmels soldiers. They were ready to charge and she was ready to fight. Frida positioned the spear better in her hands and held it tighter, but was stopped by her dragon.

Signe fired at the soldier that stood in the middle. Making him scream in pain as he was burned alive. The two beside him, dropped their weapons in fear and jumped overboard without a second thought.

Frida raised a confused eyebrow at that and both the dragon and rider turned their heads to each other. "Okay, that was easy." she said a little unsure and loosed the grip on the spear.

"Frida!" Olav came running to her. Covered in soot and a little blood. "There's boats going to the east side of the island."

"Aren't Barvik supposed to hold that side?" She asked and heard another battle cry from Leif somewhere in the fog of ashes.

"Yes, but they haven't made it there yet so when we're done on this boat," a scream of pain was heard and it wasn't from Leif, "we go and help them as we are closest to them."

A zippleback hiss sound was heard and the air behind Frida turned green, followed by an explosion of fire.

"I think we're done here." she said and a proud Leif came out of the ashy fog with Zip and Zap behind him.

Ingrid twisted her hands nervously in her lap. She, Gothi and the rest of the six healers were sitting in the main room, waiting for any wounded to come in. Of course none of them wanted anyone to be hurt, but in a war like this it was almost impossible .

Thanks to the thick walls around them, they didn't hear everything that was going outside.

Then voices were heard coming from their left and into the room came Stoick, together with seven of Berks soldiers. She didn't know why they came that way but this was her chance to speak to her betrothed, even if they had already said their good luck before the battle began.

Stoick stopped the group of seven soldiers behind him and directed them to go out from the entrance and into the battlefield to fight. The group nodded their heads and walked out. Stoick turned and started walking to the Berk side of the island.

Ingrid hesitated before she ran around the corner and caught his hand before he walked away from her.

"Stoick." His hands were soft against hers and she never wanted to let go.

He grabbed her hand back and gave her a small but warm smile. "Ingrid, shouldn't you be helping the wounded?"

"Yes, but if you didn't see; no wounded have come in yet. Hopefully it will stay that way."

Stoick laid a gentle hand on her cheek and Ingrid leaned in his touch. "Gods, I'm glad you don't have to see what's going on out there."

"Is it really that bad?" she wondered and cherished this moment with him. "Then I don't want you out there."

He smiled and interlaced their fingers together. "I'll be back, I promise. But they need me out there, just like they need your help here."

Ingrid bit her lip and fighted back the tears that she felt coming. "You've already promised me to that we would not meet in Valhalla after this-"

He had both of his hands on her cheeks now and Ingrid looked into his blue eyes. "And we won't. I'll come back to you." he kissed her and filled her body with warm love. She kissed him back and gave the love he deserved back to him.

He slowly pulled away and Ingrid craved his touch back on her.

A loud bang was heard and Stoick automatically pulled her closer to him in protection. He looked to his right, the way the bang came from and Ingrid pulled Stoick away from her.

"Go. Fight this war. Help them however you can." she said and blinked away the tears that threatened to come out.

Stoick looked at her that she could only describe as hesitation, before he gave her a quick kiss on the lips. "I love you."

Ingrid watched him run down the corridor and disappear in the dark. Tears came down her cheek and she bit her cheek to not start sobbing. She took a deep breath and wiped away her tears. Then she turned on her heel and was ready to do what she was really here for.
