It didn't feel like her rib was broken, but a stinging pain was there anyway. Magnhild laid her hand on her right side and felt the sting of pain getting worse. It would hurt more if it was broken, so it was probably just a bruise. The shirt had no blood on that area so she wasn't bleeding.
"Good." she muttered and grabbed her falled sword from the ground.
One of Grimmels soldiers had kicked hard in her side, making her drop her sword and land on her butt. Thankfully, Temple had grabbed the soldier and tossed him into the sea.
Temple fired on the upper deck. Magnhild felt the heat coming towards her face and she grinned. The ship was half on fire which meant for her to get out of here and take down another one of Grimmels' ships.
Magnhild didn't know how many ships of Grimmels were left standing, but she knew the war wasn't over yet.
"Come on, Temple." she said and jumped up on the dragons back. Leaving the ship to sink and the dead bodies of Grimmels' army sink with it. Well, the bodies that hadn't been burned to ashes by an angry nadder.
Being up in the air, gave Magnhild a quick look at the battle.
Ships on fire, people fighting for their lives and dragons flying everywhere, destroying what needs to be destroyed. The only place where dragons weren't was by the platform entrance on the island. The people there looked like ants fighting and yelling at each other. The snow was red from blood and sometimes a person of two slipped on the icy parts that were hidden under the snow.
But neither Magnhild nor Temple didn't have time to think about those, because a ship that clearly had lost its captain was driving right into the small rocky island that was on the east side of the island.
Temple flew down and Magnhilds eyebrow raised when she saw Finn standing inside a circle surrounded by Grimmels men. Lyrke was nowhere to be seen. He's a changewing, what did you expect? He was probably doing a sneak attack, waiting for Finn to do a signal or something.
The air flew right in Magnhilds face when Temple flew fast down to help Finn.
Magnhild jumped down from Temple's back and down to the deck by Finn's side.
"Need a hand?" she asked and twirled her sword in her hand.
Finn didn't have to answer when a big muscled man came walking into the circle. "Look what we have here, the Haddock kids." he grinned at them and Magnhild tightened her grip on her sword.
"What a catch we have been giving." a woman smirked. "Two of the three worthy children."
"What about another one to put in the catch?" All heads turned to a straight backed Stoick who easily strolled towards his siblings, making the circle split and everyone walking away from him. Stoick stood beside Magnhild and he took his axe from his back, ready to fight together with his siblings. His dragon, Egil flew in one spot over the boat.
The big muscled man laughed at the sight of the Haddock kids. "Look at these⦠skinny kids. But what would you expect from having a toothpick as a father?" The Haddocks glared at him for mocking their father like that. "Amazing he even has three offspring or-."
Suddenly his face went from a mocking grin to blank and surprised. He looked down at his leg and screamed. An arrow was in his leg and blood came running down his pants into his boot.
"Aren't you lucky he got one more kid?"
The three siblings watched their sister jump down from Brie and landed on the deck with grace. She had her hands covered in blood, her shirt had clearly been like a towel for the smashed blood patterns on it and one of her braids had strays of hair free.
"Traitor." the man spat and pulled out the arrow. Making him hiss in pain and tears started to build in his eyes.
Vylma walked up Finn's side. "Am I a traitor for protecting my people and Berk?"
"No," Finn began and gave Vylma a small smile. "You will never be a traitor in Berks eyes."
"You're a dragon killer in Berks eyes which makes you a traitor to them as well!" The man spat as he held a hand to his leg wound.
"Do you know this ship is about to collapse into a stone wall?" Vylma questioned and shut the man up.
Grimmels soldiers turned with confused faces and were met with a stone wall and didn't have time to prepare themselves when the ship hit it. Making everyone on board trying to keep themself on their feet as the ship shook and the front of the boat exploded with planks and splinters.
Stoick dropped his axe and shielded Magnhild, as she stood close to him while Vylma and Finn shield themselves with their arms to not get hit by anything coming flying towards them.
Brie was heard squeaking over them and was about to fly down when a loud explosion behind the big stone island was heard and made the island rumble down snow at them. It wasn't much, but not a minute later another explosion was heard and heavy snow and icy rain came raining down towards them.
"JUMP!" Stoick yelled and grabbed Magnhild by her arm and ran to the railing of the ship to jump off the ship. Egil flew after his rider and Temple looked worried around the mass of white snow for Magnhild.
Egil wasn't fast enough to catch them and flew straight into the ocean.
Vylma and Finn were saved by Brie at the last minute. Finn looked in panic around the ship that was now sinking. Lyrke had been on that boat, well on the outside of the boat so it had looked like Finn had come to the ship alone.
"Lyrke!" he screamed. "Lyr-" the changewing de-camouflage in mid air and flew straight to him.
"Lyrke!" Finn beamed and wiggled out of Brie's grip to fly on Lyrke instead.
"Thank gods, you're okay." Finn happily said.
"Finn!" his head snapped to Vylma, who now sat on the nadders back with a worried face. "Stoick and Magnhild is still down there!"
Stoick felt his side burn, which was a surprise because he knew he was under cold water. It felt like he had been stabbed in his side, but how? No sharp objects had been thrown at him when he jumped down into the water with Magnhild, who he had somehow lost his grip on.
He didn't know how deep down he was in, but he knew he needed air. Fast. He started to swim and hoped his sister was already up. Nothing but the surface could be seen before him and his body screamed for him to get air.
As he tried to reach the surface and tried to ignore the pain in his side, something big came straight at him and he felt safe when he saw Egils face. Egil grabbed Stoick and flew up from the water and Stoick gasped for air.
"MAGNHILD!" Stoick heard Finn scream in panic.
Magnhild wasn't up from the water? Stoick thought. Had he dragged her to her death?
Stoick felt his heart tightening and his breath get stuck in his throat, which was bad because he was gasping for air seconds ago. His eyes scanned the water area where he just came up from. Wooden planks splatter all over the place and ice and snow from the collapse still floated around.
He tapped Egils leg to tell him to get him on his back. Egil swung Stoick upwards and the human landed with a groan and a hiss on the dragon's back. His side hurt like hell, but he still would fly down into the water and search for his sister.
"No!" Vylma said, like she knew what Stoick was about to do, but she spoke to Finn who was ready to go down there and search for her like Stoick was about to do. "We can't search for her under water."
"You want her to drown?" he snapped.
"Of course not! But- where's Temple?" her eyes scanned the area and the green and yellow nadder was nowhere to be seen. Stoick and Finn looked around as well and hoped that the dragon went looking for Magnhild, because their other sister is sitting here telling them not to!
Vylma got her answer seconds later when Temple came flying up from the water with a coughing Magnhild who laid forward with her upper body on Temple. Her legs dug in Temple's side to keep her there, even if she had been sitting in the saddle.
Vylma didn't waste any second when all three of her siblings were alive and guided them to one of her ships. A ship that had yet come into the battle.
"My queen!" a Barvik soldier came running to Vylma as soon as they landed. "Glad you're alive and well. We have some great news."
"What?" Vylma asked.
"It has been rumored that Grimmel is dead."
"Is it really that great news if it's just a rumor and can be false." Magnhild said and got help from Finn to get down from Temple. Her body was frozen from the cold water.
"It is." Vylma agreed and looked at the sky and saw a deathgripper flying over the battlefield from the east side. "He's not dead."
Under the deathgripper hanged Grimmel and you could see that he was alive because his body was moving, but not his legs apparently. They hanged limp from his body. The dragon flew to the island where she killed Delia. Hiccup and Toothless had apparently seen him because they were now flying their way to him.
Vylma sprang into action. "I want you to give Magnhild a blanket so she can stay warm while Temple takes her to the island." she addressed the man before her, who nodded and ran away to get a blanket.
"What? Why-" Magnhild started to protest but Stoick got her off.
"She's right," he began and crossed his arms over his chest. "You need to get warm."
"And you need to get your wounded side checked up." Finn told him.
Stoick narrowed his eyes at him. "My side is fine and I will not stand back down because of a wound."
"So you admit you are wounded?" Finn tried and gave him a smug smile.
Vylma looked from her brothers to where her dad now stood on the island and had Grimmel in his grip. She had to go there. "Get Magnhild out of here and Stoick, don't be a stubborn arse."
With that and giving them no time to respond, she jumped on Brie's back and flew straight to where Hiccup and Grimmel were. She didn't know what was going to happen, but she needed to punch Grimmel in the face just once. The drama with the chief was something they could talk about after all this. She didn't feel like having that conversation with him right now.
