Chapter 28 Undercover

Tank and Stephanie were in the Rangeman SUV driving towards Tank's brother's home. "Little one, do you remember when Ranger first hired you?" he asked.

"Yeah, I do. Why?"

"I remember that I had to sit with you to make sure you read the Rangeman employee handbook. Do you remember the code name if you get into trouble? The one you used if you married a Rangeman employee?" Tank asked her gently.

"Yeah, you drilled that into my head. I remember it," Stephanie told him. She smiled at the memory.

"What is it?" Tank demanded.

"Eddie," she told him.

"Alright, I just hope you never have to use it, Little one," Tank said as he continued to drive.

"Yeah, that makes two of us," Stephanie said. She put her hand on her husband's thigh.

After twenty minutes of searching for a parking spot, Tank finally found a spot across the street from his brother's apartment.

They got out of the SUV and crossed the street. Tank noticed a Taxi pulling to the curb.

"Tank, that Taxi parked a few cars behind us," Stephanie told him. She thought it had followed them from the hotel.

"I know, little one, it is following us," Tank finished her sentence. Tank took out his cell phone and went quiet. He hit the speed dial to call Ranger.

Tank opened the door for Stephanie and hit the button for Eric Sherman. "Hey there, I am in town, and I figured I would pop by," Tank said into the intercom.

"Hey, cool, Eddie, but I can't talk now. Can you swing by later?" Eric asked his younger brother.

"Yeah, that's cool, man." Tank and Stephanie looked at each other, and they left the building. Tank opened the door for Stephanie, she got in, and Tank got in the driver's side and drove away.

Tank waited until they were in the SUV for five minutes before he asked, "Boss, did you get that?"

'Yeah, you get your wife to the hotel. Do not leave your room. If you leave and try to get to your brother, Tank, you will be through at Rangeman, got it?" Ranger asked.

"Got it, boss," Tank said as he heard a click.

They drove back to the hotel and got inside without incident. "Come on, let's go to our room." Tank grabbed Stephanie's hand as they went back to their room.

When they entered their room and locked the door, Tank pulled Stephanie into his arms.

"Hey, we will get through this," she told him as she looked into his soft brown eyes.
