The next morning, Briar was surprisingly up before anyone else was and walking the grounds of the school in the early morning light.
"Oh, hey Briar," said Leah as she and the genies approached.
"Hi, Leah, what are you doing up so early?" asked Briar.
"I like how mornings smell with the fresh dew on the ground," said Leah while standing there taking a deep breath with her eyes closed and a smile across her lips.
"But more importantly, what brings the daughter of Sleeping Beauty out here so early?" she asked as she opened her eyes to look right at Briar.
"I've been having trouble sleeping, which is weird seeing how that's never happened before," said Briar.
"Been thinking about your destiny too much?" asked Leah. Briar then noticed a red and blue shimmer in the younger girl's eyes.
"You had some kind of wish put on your eyes, didn't you?" asked Briar who was a little concerned by what the effect of the wish could be since she found it so easy to talk with the younger girl.
"It was a wish to see if people are struggling with their destinies, it doesn't do anything other than that," said Leah.
"Guess there's no need to hide it anymore, I've actually been struggling with it for a while now," said Briar.
"You would have to be put in a hundred-year sleep if you go through with it, so I can see why you would want to go against it," said Leah.
"Don't forget waking up to my friends all being dead and a stranger kissing me," said Briar while not so happily looking at the ground.
"Then why act like you're okay with it?" asked Shine.
"Because I'm a coward who's afraid of other's opinions, especially my family," said Briar.
"We can't pick our families or who we are, but we can pick our friends," said Shimmer.
"And if your friends turn their backs on you because of one decision, were they really your friends to begin with?" asked Leah.
"You know what, you're right," said Briar while looking at Leah with a determined expression.
