"I didn't come into this world to please
humanity with my appearance."
Another scream tried to get out of Magnhild when she almost stumbled to the ground, but she didn't scream. Even if it didn't matter because the men knew where she was. She could hear them, their voices were high enough.
"I'm not gonna die. I'm not gonna die!" She thought to herself and continued to run. The trees were getting farther apart and she was hoping to see the ocean soon.
Water. If she could just go underwater, they wouldn't find her. Especially not in the middle of the night. The moon was the only thing that casted a light over the darkness.
Magnhild felt her steps slowing down and she tried to tell herself to go faster. But she was tired and hurt. All she wanted was to lie down and go to sleep.
The men were getting closer and Magnhild knew she wouldn't make it. She couldn't see the ocean or hear it.
"Just run. Run!" She told herself and she took her last powers and tripped.
Luckily she stopped herself with her hands before falling on her face but her broken rib was not happy.
She bit her lip so she wouldn't scream until she tasted blood. Nothing new after being a prisoner for two months in this hell hole.
Two months, which felt like an eternity. She had been scented to death after saying no to a marriage proposal with the chief's son. The son had "saved" her by making her a prisoner instead of killing her. She wished they had killed her. Being tortured and raped was enough for her to crave death.
They had tortured her for five days and on the last two, they had let her heal and a healer had come in and helped her.
Her nose was crooked after all the beating and it had been broken twice. She had lost two teeth, luckily those two teeth were in the back of her mouth and not the front. She thought she was going to be blind in one eye, but no. The scars on her body that were made of knives, swords and an axe were going to be there forever.
The son, who she was asked to get married too came into her cell four times a week to try to rape her. She fought him off the first three weeks, but then she was weak. Everything was hurting and she had an escape plan which she needed every stranger she could get. When he came in she just laid there and looked away when he kissed her and every inch of her body. She cursed him and thought of every way she would kill him when he came into her.
He was the first one she would kill if she made it out of this island alive.
"Tell me, Magnhild. Are you gonna kill your dear pet dragon for your own life? Either she dies and you live or she lives and you become my wife." The blond haired man looked at her with his brown eyes. His shoulders were relaxed, making his face look more soft than his personality. His name, the chief's son, was called Germer. He had a bull necked and he was husky. His face looked like a square with a small nose, and thin lips. His blonde hair was to his butt and was braided weirdly. Magnhild wouldn't call him ugly, but he wasn't attractive. She had seen far more attractive men in her life.
"Why?" She spat. "Why do you want me as your wife? Is it because of my appearance?"
He laughed. "No, it's not about your beautiful face and body. It's because of your status."
"Because I'm a Chief's daughter?" Magnhild frowned.
"Yes. And you're second in line. After your brother Stoick died and your sister became queen to another tribe, you're second in line in Berk. And if Finn dies, you're the heir."
Magnhild shook her head. "No." She became more angry. "You will not have Berk."
"I think I will. After all, I don't believe you want your dragon dead. So you don't have a choice than to become my wife."
Magnhild groaned and flared at him. "I will never be your wife."
He laughed. "I'll be nice to you."
She snorted.
"I'll give you two months to think this through."
"Two months?"
"Yes. I want a summer wedding and summer is in two months and at that time the trees will be green and that would look lovely on our wedding day or the day I will cut your dragons head off."
Magnhild looked at Temple. He was trying to fight off the seven men that held him down and the net that was wrapped around him. He couldn't move, so he laid down and looked at her.
He looked angry, sad and hurt. Magnhild wanted it to go away. Seeing her dragon like that was heartache. She had to fight, to come up with a plan to get them both out of here.
Magnhild slowly stood up from the ground because now she could hear the men's footsteps. They were coming for her just like they had done for two months, but not now. Now they wouldn't get her. They will never get their hands on her again.
The wings of a dragon were heard and then a shot. The screams of pain and the smell of burning flesh reached her and she stopped to turn around.
There between the trees was a fire of burning bodies. Magnhild didn't know who set them on fire, but she thanked the gods to whoever did.
More screams were heard from her left after another fire shot from a dragon, a fire shot she had heard before but never imagined she would hear here of all places.
On the other side of the water bay, where the village lay. Or was. The wooden houses were on fire and the local people screamed as their village burned down. Animals ran in fear as they caught on fire and when Magnhild's eyes landed on the biggest house in the village; she smiled.
Black smoke filled the air as the house of the leader of the village burned down. She didn't know if the chief family burned the house, but for her to imagine it made her feel happy. That horrible son of the chief maybe was dead and that was he deserved for how he treated her.
Magnhild felt her legs give out under her, but her smile didn't waver as she fell down to the ground and lost consciousness.
