Chapter 4
After bumping into the man in the hallway, Kagome made her way to the nearest furniture store. She found a little corner store that had just what she wanted and at just the right prices too. "How may I help you?'' Asked the owner of the store. Kagome bowed and then explained she had just come to the city due to her job. The store owner smiled and welcomed her. She told him what she would need and soon they started searching the store. First was a bed, not that she was able to sleep. Still it was nice to relax in bed and write in her diary. Next up a table to eat at, along with two chairs for now. There was a cute little sofa with cherry blossom leaves on it that she couldn't resist getting. In the end she had most of the important items to help make her days nicer and her apartment a little less empty.
Walking out of the furniture store Kagome smiled and looked out over the city. 'It sure is different around here, the city seems to hold a peaceful and calming nature to it. Or maybe it just feels like this because it's new.' With these thoughts going through her head, Kagome went to the store to buy a few things. She couldn't buy anything that needed to stay cold, since her things like a refrigerator wouldn't be delivered for a few days.
As she entered the little grocery store a woman carefully watched her. She stayed just enough away from Kagome, not wanting to be seen. The woman watched Kagome's every move and when Kagome left the store so did the lady. The woman stayed back just enough so Kagome wouldn't see she was following her. As they neared the apartment complex however. "Hey Miroku you see that?" Of course the monk wasn't anywhere near a window to see.
"No, I'm not looking out the window like you are." To this Miroku got up and walked over to where InuYasha was. "So what am I looking at may I ask?"
"It's the girl and look, she's being followed." Miroku watched and soon agreed the girl was indeed being followed. "Do you think she knows who the girl is?"
InuYasha studied the view below him and soon noticed something about the woman following the girl seemed odd. And then…..The woman's appearance changed into a man. "Ha! I knew it, Naraku. That bastard is still around and I'd say he knows she has the jewel too. Damn like I needed more shit on my plate."
Miroku grinned. "Well that does solve one problem. At least I know we're staying here." InuYasha slowly turned, he glared at Miroku wishing he had something hard to throw at the monk. "What I'm just saying is all."
"Keh, it's not like you're not in this too." InuYasha sighed, he wasn't sure how to handle all of this now. "So what's the plan monk, should I go tell this girl her fate or let the beast kill her now and be done with it?"
Now it was Miroku who wanted to throw something. "You really are stupid aren't you, InuYasha?" Sigh! "All I know is we have to keep her safe from your beast and that monster, Naraku. He's definitely found her and rather quickly. I'd say he's been following her for awhile now, basically he's just waiting for the right moment." InuYasha agreed, still he didn't like any of this now.
Kagome went to her apartment door and used her key card to enter, but stopped what she was doing. When she felt like someone was watching her. She turned, but no one was there. With a shrug of her shoulders, she brushed off the strange feeling and went into her apartment. It still looked so empty but soon it would look a little more like home. After placing her bag of groceries on the countertop, Kagome went to her little makeshift bed of covers on the floor to relax. She pulled out her diary to do some writing and maybe take a small nap.
Dear diary,
Today has been interesting, I really like this place. And the people around here seem very nice. I actually bumped into a man today, and well...he looked really cute. I didn't get to really see his face, but his hair looked really sexy. It was long, but not too long. And even though I only got a quick look, his eyes were a stunning brown. I wonder if I'll bump into him again?
Looking up Kagome's mind drifted off from her writing as she thought about him. It was the first time she actually felt interested in a guy. Kagome looked like a kid viewing chocolate through the window of the candy store. Her eyes sparkled as she thought about him. 'He looked like guy candy.' She thought, but quickly shook her head to clear her thoughts. "What am I doing? I don't even know the guy, he's probably happily married to a woman who looks like a model and has three kids. Seriously what is wrong with me?" Still she couldn't get him out of her head. 'I swear if I find out he's married he's out of my head.' Those were her famous last thoughts, as she drifted into sleep.
It was during Kagome's sleep that she actually dreamt peaceful for once. Her subconscious mind was thinking about him. He was walking down the hall carrying something that looked like a small table. Still she couldn't see his face completely. It didn't matter because she knew he had brown eyes and long black hair. She remembered only a little of his voice, but imagined him saying. "Hi Kagome." She smiled in her sleep and hugged her pillow. He was so sexy and when he passed by her. Her jaw dropped at his butt in those tight black jeans. There was a loud bang outside the apartment that caused Kagome to wake from her sleep and wonderful dream. "I wonder what that was?" Kagome asked herself, as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
Looking at her phone, Kagome saw it was close to evening time. She stretched and soon got up to see what she could find to do. It was strange not having a T.V to watch, not even her Internet was hooked up yet. 'Well I guess a walk won't hurt.' She thought as she slid on her shoes. She put in her earphones and turned on some of her favorite music. She closed the door behind her and once again wasn't watching where she was going. Only this time…
"Excuse me my dear, I really need to watch where I'm going." Kagome turned to see a man with short hair that was cut to his shoulders. His smile was full of cheer and he bowed as he gave his name. "My name is Miroku, I live just a few doors down the hall. I must say you are quite a lovely lady. I was wondering...are you single?" He asked, while taking her hand to kiss it.
Kagome blushes and was starting to feel really uncomfortable around this man now. At first she thought he seemed sweet and nice but now. "Um, actually...I'm kinda interested in someone right now." This wasn't a complete lie after all, she was interested in the man from yesterday. Of course it was only a one sided interest. Since she was the one interested in him, while he wasn't in her. 'He's probably forgotten all about me.' Kagome thought, as she slowly tried to get away from the man in front.
The hand of the very man she was thinking of, pulled her away from the man holding her hand. "Miroku! I told you to stop harassing people, especially women." Kagome froze when she looked and saw him holding her arms length away. She swallowed hard when she realized he was so close to her and even touching her. Her heart was starting to beat faster and her cheeks felt warm. Surely she was blushing like a schoolgirl. Miroku could see her reactions and knew very well the man she was interested in. This in turn made him smile and slightly chuckle. Letting go of Kagome, InuYasha grabbed Miroku by the collar of his shirt, and pulled him away from her.
As Kagome watched him pass, her heart sank. He never even looked at her. With her heartbroken, Kagome continued on to do her evening walk. 'Who am I kidding, there's no way a guy like that is interested in me.' She thought, as she wiped away a few tears. "I'm starting to hate this place now.." Kagome told herself, as she started walking faster to escape her heartache.
