Chapter 5

After dragging Miroku back to their apartment room InuYasha cursed his bad luck. "You are a fucking idiot! I'm trying to stay away from the girl and you're trying to set up a date with her." InuYasha was pacing the floor trying to calm his nerves, but it wasn't helping.

"I wasn't trying to set up a date with her, I was trying to be nice to her. However, I think it's you that she wants to set up a date with." Miroku started laughing. "You are most certainly cursed by that jewel my friend. Only this is the first time love was a factor since the priestess cursed you."

InuYasha turned and got right in Miroku's face. "What the hell are you talking about monk? I don't have any feelings for that woman. You on the other hand, are always after a woman to play with."

Miroku shook his head with a smile. "You poor naive hanyou, you didn't sense anything from that woman just now?" InuYasha only rolled his eyes. "I'll take that as a no. Okay for one she told me she's interested in someone else and second. She turned red the moment she saw you. I'm pretty sure her scent changed a little as well. It looks like she has the hots for you doggy." Miroku said, giving InuYasha a wink and an elbowed to his arm.

"Keh, yeah well she might as well forget it. I'm nobody's interest, once a woman finds out what I am they run. And it's best if this woman gets me out of her head." Miroku was quiet after that, he knew InuYasha well enough to leave the facts and not make the dog angry.

Still InuYasha wasn't feeling okay about things lately. Naraku was onto the girl and most likely knew she had the jewel. He had to keep an eye on her, and Naraku far away from her. Little did InuYasha know that there was another seeking the jewel besides Naraku. His nose twitched. "Damn, I smell wolf. Hey Miroku, do you know of any wolf youkai seeking the jewel?"

Miroku paulsed, thinking of anything he might have heard about. "I only remember hearing of a young wolf cub from years back. They say one day he would rule the northern lands of Japan. We are in his territory as well as the jewel now. Maybe Naraku is gathering allies?"

"No, Naraku would never have allies." InuYasha said, as he started pacing the floor again. He knew this was getting serious now. "Damn! Now we have Naraku and some wolf youkai after the jewel. And a girl with no clue her life's in danger now more than ever."

As Kagome walked her mind drifted to the song that was playing. She had to get her mind off of him, and at the moment she wished she had some work to do. She had two more days to go till she would start work and right now that's all she wanted to do. A man's voice called to her and she stopped to see who. It was a tall male with blue eyes and his hair up in a high ponytail. He was wearing running shorts and a white muscle shirt. "Oh hello." Kagome said, while bowing to the man and doing her best to be nice.

"Nice day for a walk, is it okay if I join you?" Kagome wasn't sure if it was a good idea, but felt the man seemed nice. "So are you new around here?" Kagome was starting to feel something wasn't right. She wasn't sure how to answer this man. Still she didn't want to let him know she didn't really feel safe around him?

A picture of him flashed in her mind. So she figured why not go with it. "Well...um...you know it's not safe to get too close to me. My boyfriend gets very protective if he sees someone close to me. Especially if it's another man."

The man looked around and saw no one. 'Obviously this woman is lying to me. There's no one around and she didn't carry any male scent on her.' He gave a chuckle, thinking he'd call her out on this boyfriend stuff. "Heh, that's funny I don't see anyone around here and I don't smell one on you either?" Kagome didn't know what to say now. There wasn't anyone around to even point to and why did he say about the scent of a male? "Just admit it little vixen, you're all alone and in my territory" He got so close to her face, almost making her feel trapped.

"I have to go really." Kagome tried to move away, but he blocked her again. "Please sir I'd like to pass." Still he wouldn't move, she tried backing away. Only to find herself backed into a wall. She could feel his breath on her neck as he whispered into her ear. She closed her eyes and prayed for help.

"Come now my dear, I'm not going to hurt you." He said, licking his lips. "I only want the jewel you have and then I'll be on my way, little vixen. Unless you'd like to go on a date after I become a strong Youkai god. Kagome wasn't sure if this was a dream or reality anymore. Who would call themselves a youkai, and what was this jewel he thought she had?"

She tried pushing him away with her hands, but no luck. He was too strong and she didn't know how to escape him. "Please I don't know anything about a...a jewel." Kagome suddenly thought of an idea her brother told her that would always work on escaping a man. So with all her strength Kagome raised her knee hard and as fast as she could into the man's crotch.

The man slightly doubled over, but he wasn't really in pain. More like he was just winded. "Bad move bitch!" He said, as he slowly stood up. Kagome took what little time she had and tried to run. This however failed miserably, his hand had enough time to grab her shirt pulling her back into his grip. She bit down hard on his arm hoping he'd release her just enough to get away. Still nothing worked, and Kagome was getting tired from struggling. "Getting tired are we? That's good, now just relax so I can find out..just wher…." Kagome felt sick to her stomach as the man seemed to be sniffing her body all over. "There it is, now this might hurt a lot." He grinned as his sharp claws started to slice through the bottom part of her shirt.

Kagome started to cry in fear, but with his hand covering her mouth it was muffled. Her only thoughts were she was going to surely die now. "Hey wolf, if you're smart you'll let her go now!" Kagome opened her eyes to see him, but felt the man latch onto her even tighter around her waist. "Feh, I see you have a death wish wolf cub. Well it doesn't matter to me really, I haven't had a good fight in years." He cracked his knuckles and made a fast move towards the man while trying to not hurt the woman.

Kagome was pulled back hard and screamed from the sudden movement. One of the wolf's claws had slightly pierced her arm. The smell of her blood made InuYasha even madder. Making him growl as he kept advancing. He needed to find an opening to get her out of the enemies grip. The beads around his neck only concealed his appearance, but not his strength.

"The name's Koga, you ugly mutt!" Kagome had no idea why the two men were calling each other such names. Still she feared most on what to do to get away. There was a sudden stop that made Kagome feel like she was going to lose her lunch. And next there was a slight shock that passed through her body. Koga on the other hand was now trapped inside a barrier and Kagome was laying on the outside of it.

Seeing the wolf was confined for now made InuYasha feel a bit better. Still they weren't completely out of the mess yet. Reaching down he took Kagome by the hand and helped her up. He supported most of her weight by holding her close around her waist. Kagome was still shaken from all that happened to fully realize just where she was. In his arms, being held tightly by the man she was just dreaming about a few hours ago. "I'll handle the wolf Miroku, think you can handle taking her home? And make sure you tend to her wound. Kami only knows where that flea bag's claws have been."

"Of course, but what should we do now? He mentioned the jewel. She's going to want some questions answered." InuYasha sighed, he knew Miroku's words were true. "I'll handle that as soon as I handle things here. Now take her and go, say nothing till I get home.

Giving a still shaken Kagome to Miroku, InuYasha then approached the wolf that was inside the barrier. "So mutt, I see you have a monk on your side. Nice to know you don't play fair." InuYasha walked up to the barrier and grinned at the growling wolf. "What's so damn funny dog boy? You think you've won this game is that it? Well you don't know who you're messing with."

InuYasha chuckled, he wasn't worried about the wolf cub. Not one little bit, still there was one thing bothering InuYasha. "How do you know I'm an Inu youkai?" InuYasha growled out angrily. The beads around his neck also concealed his scent from other youkai. So the wolf knowing who he was bothered him.

Koga grinned. "Oh I know all about you dog boy, I know you're tied to the jewel by a curse. Even with those beads I can tell you're not a human, no human can dodge my attacks and I know Naraku wants it too." InuYasha was growling, and even more angry now. He wanted to rip the wolf out of the barrier and kill him. "Oh what's this, did I hit a nerve?" Koga' smile widened, enticing InuYasha. If he made the dog mad enough he would easily escape. "Come on InuYasha, let the barrier down and come fight me." Koga knew InuYasha had strength, but Koga had speed. He figured that out during the little battle they just had. InuYasha was fast, but Koga was faster.

InuYasha tried to hold back his anger, but failed miserably. With a slice of his claws, he shredded the sutra allowing the barrier to fall. Koga grinned and in a flash he was gone. 'How in the fucking hell?!' InuYasha thought, as he watched the wolf wave with a smile running faster than InuYasha could ever hope to. "Damn!"

His return to his apartment was one he dreaded. She would be there and he didn't want to fight his demon again. Thankfully the beast hadn't surfaced since the day he bumped into her. The last time his demon found out about the woman who carried the jewel it would not rest. Miroku had placed him in a barrier for weeks, till the day Miroku returned only to tell InuYasha the woman was dead. Once again they failed at defeating Naraku, the curse and the jewel. 'Kami, don't let this happen again. I can't stand watching these women die because of me.'

Slowly he opened the door and found, nothing…

"What the hell?"
