Chapter 7

When InuYasha returned he found the girl was gone and only Miroku was in the apartment. "We have a problem monk." InuYasha told Miroku, as he sat down on the sofa. I found out why my youkai hasn't challenged me to take over and get the jewel." Miroku looked at InuYasha a bit confused. "When is the next crimson moon?"

Miroku started to think and soon said. "A week from today. Why?"

InuYasha swallowed hard. "Because that's when he will be the strongest. He's waiting for that night to strike. I can't let him get the jewel. And you with this new power I can cut through your barriers." InuYasha stood and once again started pacing the floor. He hated this and now it just got ten times worse.

"Indeed." Miroku replied. "After killing the old bat youkia Taigokumaru, you gained the demonic power to rip apart barriers with your claws. It does pose a challenge in this ordeal." Miroku sighed. He knew only the destruction sutra that he and Kaede created, along with his chant would stop InuYasha. That was one sutra he didn't want to use just yet. It was meant to kill InuYasha and destroy the jewel.

There was another who was growing impatient as well. Naraku has been after the girl for 10 years trying to get the jewel from the girl. His plan to burn the house and everyone in it failed when the monk and hanyou showed up. "I was so close to getting the girl and at such a young age. Still I've been waiting for the right time. And now she is the perfect age and the jewel will be mine soon. With no family around I should be able to corner her." Naraku grinned, even with the wolf and the dog here he could use this to his advantage.

InuYasha had spent most of the night just running, he needed this. He needed the feeling of freedom, under his feet and around his soul. His youkai was calm and yet it wasn't, He could feel his body burning from the long run. And suddenly the smell of the wolf came to him, making him growl. "That bastard, he's close. Damn, why does there have to be more interference in this problem." He moved and saw the wolf standing on top of a tall building. He read the sign on the side of the building. "KO industries, don't tell me he owns that place? Well if so I'll know where to find him if I need to."

InuYasha watched Koga for a bit longer and soon saw the wolf retire to the inside of the building. There was no doubt in his mind now that this was the wolf's place. Looking down at his watch InuYasha noticed the time. It was almost 2 am. 'Well I might as well head home.' He thought, leaping to the next rooftop. Once he arrived at the apartment complex, InuYasha walked through the hall to his room. As he passed by her room he took a sniff. 'Good only her scent is in there….and her damn tears...' InuYasha hated the smell of tears, they were a sign of weakness to him.

Once at his room he placed the key card in the door and entered. There was a dim light on in Miroku's room and InuYasha only "Keh!" As he walked past. He didn't know why the monk was still up and he didn't really care either. He would take a shower and try to sleep, though he doubted rest would find him. His mind was a mess with all that was happening. 'Once again history will repeat itself, the girl will die and I'll wait another 50 years for the jewel to reappear.' These thoughts ran through InuYasha's head all night long.

There was another who found sleep impossible. Kagome only cried and when she couldn't cry anymore she started thinking. This was how it went all night for her. There was no way she could sleep now. 'First nightmares and now this, why did I have to come to this horrible place?' After these thoughts passed, more tears followed. Till morning had arrived she looked like something from a horror movie. Her hair was a knotted mess and her eyes had large dark bags under them. She didn't even care to look at herself in the mirror on this shitty morning. Still she needed to get ready. The men would soon come to deliver her furniture.

InuYasha was also getting ready to start his day. He dressed in his normal t-shirt and black pants and headed to work. He worked at the restaurant just down the street. He didn't do much, just cleaned tables and washed dishes. Lastly he tied his hair up in a man bun to keep his hair from getting in the way. Miroku had already left, InuYasha figured he was probably restless too and needed to get his mind off things too.

As InuYasha closed his apartment door he saw the delivery men carrying Kagome's things. He didn't want to see her, not yet. He had no feeling for this woman, only he knew she didn't deserve to die. The talk he had with his youkai side came to him. "The priestess used you as a protector; she didn't love you." He shook his of these thoughts and continued on, hoping she wouldn't see him.

It was only for a brief second that Kagome caught a glimpse of him walking past. She felt sad thinking about what Miroku had told her after InuYasha left. 'I'm sorry.' She thought as she continued to tell the delivery men where to place her things. Miroku had only told her of InuYasha and the curse and how he was tied to the jewel, along with its destruction. He didn't however tell her that he was also the youkai in her dreams.

Once the men left, Kagome finished placing things where she wanted them. She was glad she didn't have to be at work till tomorrow, this allowed her time to get things she needed. "Well now that I have a refrigerator, I guess it's time to go grocery shopping."

Kagome's day was pleasant. She did what she needed to do and actually enjoyed herself. She had come to the conclusion she would continue her days happily. And whatever happened she would take it and accept it. Her apartment looked so pretty now. And it was slowly looking like home.

She smiled as she cooked her supper on a small hot plate. She would wait till she got paid before buying a regular stove. With her food now cooked, Kagome sat down to eat when a knock came to her door. "Coming!" She called happily, as she went to answer the door. Looking through the peephole in the door her smile grew wider as she opened the door. "Come in, I wasn't expecting visitors."
