Chapter 10

Today was the day, after three days of somewhat relaxing she was finally here. She had on a black skirt that came to her knees and a white blouse. Her high heels clicked as she walked into the large building. Kagome took a deep breath before approaching the counter to speak to the secretary. "Hello, I'm Kagome Higurashi. I'm the new building designer."

The secretary looked up from her work and smiled. "Hello Ms. Higurashi, I'm Ayame. I have your office key here and some files." Ayame stood and went to the end of the desk and picked up Kagome's things. "Here you go, your office is down the hall to the right 142 is the number on the door."

"Thank you Ayame." Kagome said with a bow. She picked up her materials and headed down the hall. She kept her eyes on the numbers on the doors as she passed. To her surprise she noticed her office was right next to the head office and the owner of the company. "Well I guess since I am just as important in a way." Kagome said to herself.

She opened the door to her office and found it was nicely decorated. When she came to her desk she found they even gave her a name plate. "Wow I never got this kind of a greeting before." There was a knock on the door behind her and Kagome turned a bit surprised.

"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you. My name is Hojo, I'm the second in charge here. I figured I'd welcome you since the big guy is out on business today. If you need anything just let me know."

Kagome bowed to Hojo. "Thank you I will, is there anything important I should start on?"

Hojo chuckled a little. "No just get settled in for today. Read over your folder and get your computer setup." Hojo blushed and asked. "Is it okay if I ask you to join me in the cafeteria for lunch later today?"

Kagome smiled. "Sure I'd be delighted too." They both felt awkward, but Kagome felt maybe it would be nice to make a friend here. 'He seems sweet too, still he's not as handsome as InuYasha.' These thoughts only made her heartache more for the hanyou. Truth is she had yet to see him without the concealment beads on. Right now he looked like a normal human. What would Kagome actually think of InuYasha, after she saw his golden eyes, long silver hair and cute doggy ears on his head?

After a few minutes he found the courage to say goodbye and head to his own office. Kagome giggled at the man's shyness and continued to her desk to get things in order. 'I think I'm going to like it here.' She thought, as she set her things down and turned on her computer.

He returned early from his meeting with the other company with a bouquet of flowers for his new employee. He was more than excited to see the new designer, after all he hired her after hearing such great reviews about her building designs. He knocked on her door and when she said come in, he entered. "Welcome to the company Ms. Higurashi."

Kagome literally froze, she had her back turned and was working at her computer at the time he knocked on the door. She knew that voice all too well and slowly she turned. When her eyes met his face she wanted to scream, but knew it would do nothing. He held a very happy grin on his face, which made her stomach roll. "K-Koga…."

He bowed and walked towards her and placed the flowers on her desk. Kagome knew she couldn't fight him and she didn't think he'd try anything here. So she swallowed the lump in her throat and waited to see what happened next. "I do want to apologize for my animal behavior the other day. I promise it won't happen again."

Kagome didn't know how to process all of this. She secretly rolled her eyes in her mind, thinking. 'Yeah right you wanted to cut the jewel from my body. And now I'm supposed to forgive you like nothing even happened?' She would surely tell InuYasha about this….or would she. Her face turned from fear to heartache. There was no point in telling a man that didn't care. Miroku would be more understanding, but what would InuYasha do?

Koga saw her face turn and asked. "Hey are you okay? I um….I'm new at this and honestly I thought about my actions towards you the other day. And well...you didn't deserve that, you seem very nice. Please allow me at least the chance to show you I'm not out to kill you like before."

Kagome slightly smiled, it was more of an okay I'll give one more chance type of smile. "Well you didn't have to be so rough and you scared me a lot. Honestly I prefer to NOT think about what would've happened if InuYasha hadn't showed up."

Koga growled in his head, when Kagome mentioned InuYasha. He hated that dog and he hated that she considered InuYasha as her boyfriend. Which they clearly weren't even friends. He started thinking of how he'd treat her like a queen. 'You'll see Kagome, I'll be good to you and I'll find a way for you to be free of that jewel. While I consume its powers and become an even stronger youkai. I'll take you as my mate and I'll give you all the freedom you want. You'll never want anyone after you've enjoyed my prized package.'

The day actually went well for Kagome. Koga didn't say much more to her after his thoughts about treating her good. He simply left her office after that. Kagome still kept herself on guard Incase Koga tried anything. To her surprise she didn't see him after that. Still she didn't trust him just yet. "Well my first day of work and actually I enjoyed it." Kagome said to herself, as she packed up her things to head home.

As she left her office, Koga watched her. He was actually in one day, starting to really like her. She was very beautiful and her hair smelled like lavender. He really liked how she worked too. He had been watching her work on her plans for a future project and loved her designs. 'She's not safe, Naraku knows about her. He's the one who told me about the jewel, I wonder how many other youkai he has told. And what about dog boy? Was he out to hurt his Kagome too.' His thoughts died and Koga snickered. "Heh, MY Kagome, funny how I've already claimed you as mine before I've even marked you."

As Koga stepped out onto the roof top of his business building a familiar scent came to him. A deep growl left his lips as he leaped off the building and made his way to her. "I'll be damned if I'll let that youkai touch her!"
