Chapter 13

Koga wasted no time after InuYasha stepped in to hold off Naraku. And when no one was looking he jumped from the nearby rooftop and next to the hospital entrance. A nurse saw him enter and knew there was a major problem. "What's her status?" The nurse asked.

Koga tried his best to stay calm and not growl out the words he was thinking in his head. 'What the hell do you think her status is?' Somehow he managed to say. "She's bad and barely breathing, she needs oxygen fast! There was something strange going on when I found her and a toxic smoke got into her lungs." The nurse immediately took over and called for help. Koga went to the front desk and tried to give what little information he knew about Kagome.

He stood at the entrance and felt his heart sinking. He said he'd protect her so very long along and now here she was. So close to death and he wasn't even close enough now to protect her. He wanted to enter the hospital, but his emotions were holding him at bay. The scent of Miroku came to him and InuYasha never even acknowledged him. He felt a hand on his shoulder which made him growl, as he pushed the hand from his shoulder. He wasn't interested in dealing with anyone at the moment.

"I know you're very upset right now InuYasha, but I need to get to her. You know modern technology can't undo Naraku's dark miasma. I need to purify it, it's the only way to save her." The entrance door of the hospital slid open and Koga had exited. He hated the flea bag, but knew he'd want answers. Miroku was the one who asked though. "How is she Koga?"

Looking up at the man Koga growled."Just why in the hell would I tell you? I came to tell InuYasha her condition, not you asshole!" Miroku chuckled, it seemed both InuYasha and Koga had the same perspective of him. And Koga didn't even know him like InuYasha did. "Well as you can see I am with InuYasha, and I am in fact his guardian."

Koga sighed, he hated both the mutt and the so-called guardian. "Fine Kagome is in bad shape, the smoke Naraku used on her has coated her lungs. The doctors don't know how to help her."

Miroku looked at InuYasha and then proceeded to tell Koga what needed to be done to save Kagome. "Okay so first I'll need to be able to get close to Kagome."

Koga laughed. "Good luck with that, only a boyfriend or parent can see her at this point. And I doubt you're either one to Kagome. Now dog boy here, you'd easily pass as his father. Oh wait no, you said guardian not daddy!" This made Koga roll with laughter. Until he was punched hard in the face. He went flying back and landed hard onto the sidewalk and rolled hitting a trash can. The contents spilling mostly on him. "Why you…" Koga growled out, as he stood up and approached InuYasha.

Miroku stepped in front of Koga, his staff magically appeared and quickly he erected a barrier. "That's enough Koga, we don't have time to fight. InuYasha, the same goes for you. Kagome needs help and fast, the miasma that Naraku uses is deadly. I need to purify the damage that has been done to her lungs. Now if you say only certain people can see Kagome. Then I need to act like I'm her boyfriend. And there isn't time to argue about it."

InuYasha crossed his arms and turned away from Miroku. "You better not start touching her with your perverted hands. I know how you like to pop a feel while you work."

Miroku shook his head in disbelief. "InuYasha, you know very well any touching I do. Is strictly to properly exercise or heal a person from whatever is causing them harm." Miroku said, as he lowered his staff along with the barrier around him and InuYasha.

Koga stepped forward and took a knee in front of Miroku. "If you say you can heal her then please do it, she needs help. I can't justify what I did the first time I met her, but I know now she's important." Miroku found Koga's words interesting, but he understood and knew very well the importance of Kagome. And he also knew very well Kagome's possible fate in the end.

"I will do what I can for Kagome, however I'm not sure how much you know about her and the jewel. Kagome's life is still not known to be long because of the jewel. Most of the women we have encountered with the jewel last only a few months after Naraku comes around."

InuYasha said little during Miroku's talk to Koga about the truth of the jewel and how InuYasha was cursed along with the jewel. InuYasha didn't care about his life, only kagome's. And right now it felt like time would repeat itself once more. 'Kagome will be manipulated like the women before her. And if that doesn't work, Naraku will do something else. Though I feel this time is different. Naraku has something new he's going to try and I know it's not going to be for the good'

"Something on your mind, InuYasha?" Miroku asked. He noticed InuYasha seemed deep in thought and wondered what he was thinking about. "You do know I would never do anything in the way of a sexual act while Kagome is in this kind of condition?" Miroku had performed many of these types of purifications while InuYasha was present. So he knew InuYasha would be uneasy about him touching Kagome.

"Keh, I know that. What I don't like is Naraku and what he said earlier." InuYasha's arms were no longer folded. His fists now clenched tightly as he spoke. "He's learned something about the jewel and Kagome. He only gave me a few hints in saying he's found a way to get the jewel. It seems as though he's gained a new power or something."

Miroku thought about this for a bit. "Well we know the jewel is made from demons and the heart of a pure priestess. It could be possible that Kagome has these same priestess powers locked away. I should be able to touch into them or even boost her powers, when I try to purify the miasma."

InuYasha growled and punched his fists into the closest object. Which of course was Koga's shoulder. "God dammit! You stupid idiot dog, stop hitting me!" InuYasha said nothing and simply grinned, showing a small part of his fang. "I'll punch that fang right out of your mouth, if you hit me one more time mutt!"

Miroku simply sighed, he knew it was a lost cause between these two. "Please try and not kill each other while I'm gone okay." Miroku warned the two growling canines, before he went on his way into the hospital. 'I'm coming Kagome, please be strong."
