Chapter 19

With his head back, Naraku gave a hard laugh as he watched InuYasha hit his new barrier. He had won, after all these years he had finally gotten what he wanted. It would take a few minutes maybe even an hour till his body completely consumed both Kagome and the jewel. But that was small compared to the years he had waited.

Still this didn't stop InuYasha from trying once more to break the barrier. He wanted to slice Naraku to pieces. But even with his ability to cut through barriers, it did nothing to this barrier. "Oh InuYasha, I'm so very sorry. If you were planning on saying good-bye to that woman. I'm afraid you were just a few seconds too late."

Naraku had a clear view of InuYasha's youkai appearance, which he was enjoying. InuYasha was still very much in his demonic state. since InuYasha was no longer wearing his beads. Due to the fact that he had taken them off before leaving the apartment to get some fresh air. "So that's your idea to get the jewel. It won't work though, you know the jewel will react just the same to save itself."

Naraku only smiled at InuYasha and replied. "Oh InuYasha, I'm afraid you are mistaken. After all I was able to make this very powerful barrier, that not even you can cut through. And how do you think that was possible?" Naraku started laughing again. He could feel the jewel's powers increasing his own powers. And the hopeless look on InuYasha's face was even better.

InuYasha was no longer holding back, he had nothing more to lose. If his youkai half wanted to slice something to pieces so be it. 'I'm done if you want to take over and try and win I won't resist.' It was the first time he ever allowed his blood to truly take over. And because of this something strange happened. Even when he allowed his youkai half to take over it did something completely different.

Miroku watched as InuYasha's youkia features seemed to disappear and at the same time, InuYasha's right eye began to glow. A black pearl soon emerged and when it fully left InuYasha's eye. It dropped into his hand, Miroku didn't understand who had placed this in InuYasha's eye? It was surely done when InuYasha was young. And without telling even him about the pearl. Miroku wasn't sure, but he had a feeling it was done by InuYasha's father.

Once the black pearl rested in his hand, InuYasha watched in confusion as the pearl took the shape of a sword. "What the hell?! How is this even possible?"

Miroku was still tied and being held by the two crow youkai. Until he heard the growl of Koga's voice. "Hey there Miroku, hanging out with birds this time? I thought you were into women and mutts?" Miroku rolled his eyes at Koga's words, just before the youkai that held him were sliced to pieces.

"Thank you Koga, I must say I'm glad to see you here. True InuYasha may be able to fight, but we need to save Kagome." With his hands now free, Miroku pulled a sutra from his pocket. "Now than Koga, we need to hurry. Naraku has taken Kagome's body into his. This is the only thing I know that may help free her."

Koga was out of words, how on earth would they be able to save Kagome now? "Are you crazy monk? If that bastard has Kagome inside him she must have suffocated by now. And by the looks of that barrier I don't think I can even break through."

Looking over at InuYasha, Miroku smiled. "Have no fear Koga, soon InuYasha will cut through that barrier. After all it looks like InuYasha's father has left something that will help us win this war." Now Koga knew the monk was nuts. Still he did as Miroku instructed. Once Miroku charged the sutra with his powers, and Koga was ready to back up InuYasha they waited for the hanyou to do his part.

InuYasha looked at the sword in his hand and soon felt the power of the sword. It was a warm and yet strong pulse that made his body feel even stronger. 'This is….the Tessiaga, one of my father's swords.' There was no doubt in InuYasha's mind that his father wanted him to win this fight and live. A smile came to his face as InuYasha said to himself. "Okay father let's see if this is the key to saving Kagome."

Even though InuYasha had never wielded his father's sword. He remembered his father spoke to him about it. He even allowed InuYasha to hold the sword once, but never had he used it. Still he watched his father train many times with this very powerful sword. 'Let's hope for Kagome's sake the sword allows me to use its powers.'

The sword flared to life and with a grin, InuYasha attacked. At that moment Miroku threw the sutra at the Tessiaga and Koga ran towards Naraku. When the sutra landed on the sword, it started to glow a dark red. And as Miroku chanted the sword cut through Naraku's barrier. The spiritual powers surged from the sword and towards where Kagome was inside Naraku.

Once the spiritual powers broke through and hit Kagome, Naraku's body exploded. Koga was there ready to catch Kagome as she was thrown free. She was now covered in blood and pieces of Naraku's body. Only it didn't completely kill Naraku. "Damn you InuYasha this isn't over yet!" Was what they all heard as Naraku's head went flying off.

InuYasha wasted no time going to Kagome. His sword was now a normal katana blade. Gently Koga had laid Kagome on the ground. She was pale and only a faint heartbeat could be heard. "Damn!" InuYasha cursed as he quickly took action. He never even thought about the fact his lips were touching hers as he gave his own breath to her. It took some time but soon she gasped for air. Coughing she fought to breathe on her own.

Koga and Miroku watched as Kagome slowly opened her eyes. It would be the first time she saw InuYasha without his beads to counsel his youkai looks. Miroku feared how Kagome would react to seeing him like this. InuYasha however was just happy to see her waking up. Carefully he moved her so her back was resting against the inside of his one leg. His clawed finger slowly moved a lock of her now slimmy hair out of her face.

InuYasha softly spoke as he slightly smiled at her. "Hey, sorry I was late getting to you Kagome." Kagome just stared at him, her eyes locked on his golden eyes. It was as if she was looking deep into his eyes trying to find something. "Are you okay, Kagome?" InuYasha asked.

"Weak…." Kagome said in a soft whisper. InuYasha didn't doubt her body felt weak, so with great care he picked her up bridal style. Miroku and Koga stayed back as they headed out of the horrible place that almost took Kagome's life. Still the jewel remained inside her which meant her life was still very much linked to the unforgiving future of the jewel.

"So the mutt has a sword now, looks like he's going to need it too. After all, I don't think we've seen the last of Naraku." Koga stopped and watched as InuYasha continued on to the apartment. A slight smile came to him as he spoke. "Well monk, it looks like I've lost this love battle. Although something tells me I never had a chance to play the game."

Placing a hand on Koga's shoulder, Miroku chuckled. "Let's just say neither you or I were tied to the other end of her string of fate. Kagome is where she should be, let's just hope that it's not going to end for many years to come."

As InuYasha carried Kagome back to the apartment complex, he softly spoke. "I am so sorry I didn't get to you in time to stop Naraku. I keep letting the ones that mean the most to me get hurt. Even Miroku has suffered more than any man should have." InuYasha took a moment to look down at her resting form. Kagome had been quiet and very still as he carried her home. It worried him greatly, but knew Miroku would check her once they were home. And this time he would make sure nothing perverted happened.
