A bright flash of light and the feeling of his body being thrown across the room hit him. He heard Kagome scream and his senses were on the alert quickly. Only he couldn't move, but why couldn't he move? It was like he was paralyzed. His eyes started to focus and he noticed something around him. He was on his back and he felt like his body was burning. A figure stood just beyond the pinkish barrier wall. Next his ears focused on the sound, it was Kagome calling his name. Her voice sounded terrified and he was sure she was crying.
InuYasha tried once more to move, he wanted to sit up and get to Kagome. still nothing. He was naked and trapped, that was all he knew at the moment. And the feeling of being trapped and no way out was starting to anger him. He growled as he used all his strength to break free, still the barrier held strong. "DAMMIT!" He cursed, before calling out. "Hakai no akai tsume!" (Red Claws of destruction) When he said these words, his claws turned red and sliced through the barrier. He took long deep breaths trying to calm himself before his youkai side took over.
He felt something drape over his shoulders. When he looked, he saw Kagome now covered in his bathrobe once more. She never bothered to close the tie allowing him to see there was blood coming from the side of her stomach. It was at that same moment the smell hit him and instantly he wanted to know how all this happened. His hand went to his throbbing head and carefully he tried to stand. He felt her guide him up and made sure he was still covered by something. "What the hell happened?" He asked, as he carefully made his way back to the bed to sit down.
Kagome was still in tears and wondered how he was even alive. She placed the bed sheet over him as soon as the barrier fell. It was at that time she could see his wounded body. He was covered in burns and cuts and his body looked black in some areas. Almost as if he walked out of a burning building. "InuYasha are you okay?" Kagome asked, being careful of his wounds.
"Keh, I'm fine, but you...you're bleeding." His hand went to move away part of her robe to better see the wound. What he saw made his eyes widen in complete shock. "Kagome, you have a hole in the side of your stomach!"
Kagome never even realized she was injured, she was more worried about InuYasha. "I...I..I didn't know. I was so worried about you I never felt a thing." Still she managed to hold her ground, her mind still worried about him.
"Damn! What on earth happ…." InuYasha froze, his eyes saw something, something unbelievable. "I don't fucking believe it!" There laid the jewel, it was no longer inside her. It had been 500 years and never had a woman survived. "Kagome, it's the jewel. Kagome?" There was no answer, slowly he looked at the bed beside him where she was sitting. "Kagome!" Her breathing was slow and the blood still hadn't stopped. "Dammit Kagome, don't you dare leave me!" His mind was still trying to recover from what happened, still she needed help and fast.
His first concern was Kagome, so he quickly called for Miroku. Who was actually on his way to InuYasha's room after hearing loud noises. Of course InuYasha made sure Kagome was well covered before the perverted man entered. "I'll call for an ambulance. Here you better put these on first." Miroku handed InuYasha his concealment beads. And after placing his beads back on, InuYasha found his clothes. The jewel was still on the floor and InuYasha could only stare at it. He felt a hand on his shoulder. "Well InuYasha, now what?"
InuYasha sighed heavily. "I honestly have no idea, the jewel is no longer inside her." His now brown eyes traveled back to the woman on the bed. He loved her so much, but once Miroku destroyed the jewel he would die too. Kagome didn't deserve to be alone and he didn't want to leave her either. "She needs me, Miroku, but I can't allow this evil jewel to be here anymore." Miroku gave his long time friend's shoulder a squeeze letting him know he would support his friend.
"Well InuYasha, I can't make this choice for you. I know how you feel." Miroku moved towards the jewel and reached down to pick it up. He paused and pulled out a golden sutra, wrapping the jewel inside it. "I'll take this somewhere safe till you're ready."
InuYasha looked at his friend, his heart torn. "I just want to make sure she survives first. I want to at least say goodbye to her." Miroku nodded, he understood and left the room. It was the same time the paramedics had entered the room and quickly tended to Kagome. InuYasha was asked questions about how the wound happened and all he could think to say was. "I found her like this after I heard her scream. She was naked on the floor so I placed the robe on her and carried her to the bed." It was all he said, to the cop or anyone who asked. Every person that asked him that question knew the man was heartbroken. So they didn't keep asking questions.
After the ambulance left with Kagome, InuYasha simply sat on the very bed where they were. They were both finally happy. Kagome had slept peacefully in his arms as they returned to his place. And he had finally found his love. His concealment beads were now in his hands and his nose taking in her scent. Only her perfect flowery scent was covered up by blood. Even though he had cleaned up every drop. The scent was still there and it sickened him. However he felt closer to her in this place. "Go to her you damn fool." It was his inner youkia.
"Leave me alone, dammit! I'll go to her when it's safe. She no longer has the jewel inside her so Naraku or any other demon out there has no need to go after her." InuYasha had been fighting with his decision on what to do about the jewel since Miroku had taken it away. 'Kagome will be devastated, but I have no choice. I can't allow the jewel to remain here. And once the jewel is destroyed so will I.' He buried his head in his hands, thinking of her.
There was a sudden crash of glass breaking, InuYasha jumped and turned towards the sound. "You really should've listened to your demon, InuYasha." InuYasha growled, his teeth bared and fist clenched tight. There standing in front of him was Naraku. And what angered him most was what he had in his dirty youkai hands. A very pale and still unconscious Kagome, her breathing was still slow and InuYasha could smell death on her. "What's wrong InuYasha, do I have something you want?"
InuYasha left his youkai half surface slightly. "You, how the hell are you even still alive? I killed you that night, still if you know what's good for you. You'll let her go, Naraku!" InuYasha wanted nothing more than to just attack the monster who held the woman he loved.
Stepping a few inches close, Naraku grinned. He gave a hard laugh before telling how he was still alive. "You really think I would be so easily killed, and by your hands, InuYasha. That night was set up perfectly. Your night of weakness left you vulnerable and you thought that man was me. I knew without your youkai sense of smell I could easily fool you. You did not kill me, simply the man that I copied. Oh and I will release her, InuYasha. But only if you hand over the jewel." Naraku smiled, after he made his demands. He knew InuYasha wouldn't risk the woman's health, it was a win-win situation on his end this time. "I would hurry up and decide if I were you, InuYasha."
InuYasha left out a deep and angry growl, he was set up and killed an innocent man because of this asshole. Plus this ass was now holding what was his and meant so much to him. He was sheathing mad now. He couldn't allow this youkai to have the jewel and most importantly, he wouldn't let Kagome die. "I don't have the jewel, Naraku. Isn't it obvious the jewel is gone. The woman no longer carries it. It destroyed itself."
"You dare play me for a fool, hanyou? I'm holding the woman you love in my hands and you dare lie to me?" InuYasha was starting to sweat now, the bastard was on to him. "I know if the jewel is destroyed, so is the curse and your life. So I'll ask again, where is the jewel?"
Lowering his head, InuYasha replied. "I'll bring you the jewel, just wait here. However if the woman dies before I return you'll be dead before you see any part of the jewel." Naraku agreed, but deep down InuYasha didn't trust him. "So that means you either give her to me now, or no jewel." InuYasha knew Kagome needed to return to the hospital and fast. So without knowing it he found himself face to face with a sword.
"Tessaiga?" InuYasha questioned, as he took the hilt of the sword. The sword flared to life and InuYasha wasted no time. He left the sword guide him as well as his youkai side.
