I loved the second movie and I liked the dynamic between Wade and Stone so I thought I'd turn it into a silly little flirtationship for Pride Month. Enjoy!
"Listen, I've done all I can to make you comfortable and I just want to keep the people of Green Hills safe. You're a respected business owner here and I'd love for you to be able to stay here but if you don't help me I can't help you."
"See that's the thing, Bagel Boy, I don't work for you. And I'm not selling out the man I work for, either."
"So it's a man!"
"Okay, yes, I'll tell you that much."
"And this man... Is he very nice to you?"
"Now and then," Stone admitted.
"Do you have any benefits at your job?" Wade asked.
"Do you? Or do you just get that dumb hat?"
"What? Oh you mean the siren. You see, the siren is important because people need to know that I'm in charge while Tom is away." Wade sighed wistfully when he mentioned Tom.
"Is that your boss?"
"Yeah, the best sheriff that Green Hills has ever had."
"You'd do anything for him, wouldn't you?"
"Well, I wouldn't say anything."
"Deputy Whipple, are you seeing anyone?"
Wade's face turned bright red, "Not currently, no… Are you asking?"
Stone laughed heartily, "Oh, what? No. I don't play for your team."
"So you're not gay?"
"No, I am. I meant our interests are diametrically opposed."
"Dia… What? Where is this going, if you're not asking me out?"
"If I were to ask you out, would you be interested?"
"Well, I've dated men before, and ladies, of course, plenty of ladies… But you're evil!"
"Exactly, my friend. Which is why we would never work as a couple, unless the saying is true and opposites really do attract. But regardless, I saw the yearning in your eyes when I mentioned your boss. You like him, don't you?"
Wade looked panicked, "What? No, no of course not, Tom is married."
"That doesn't mean much when it comes to matters of the heart. You can like someone, love someone, even when they're worlds apart."
"Okay, I think I get it. I'll go out with you."
"Seriously?" Stone gave him a look.
"Yeah, I know we just formally met and you're evil and stuff but sometimes you have to trust your gut. My gut is willing to go out with you."
"Okay, cowboy, my gut and I are flattered, but that is not the point I was getting at. You love your boss and would do anything for him, even if he'll never truly love you back. That is how I feel about my boss, and why I'm not going to give you any more information on him."
Wade frowns, "But he's mean to you. He treats you like dirt and doesn't give you the time of day, at least Tom is kind. Don't you want to be with someone who sees your value and wants what's best for you? He left you behind."
"No, no… He'll always come back for me."
"Are you sure about that?"
"At least I'm not lusting after a married man!"
"Maybe your man is married to his career. Seems like he cares more about taking over the world than he ever would about taking care of you. It's okay to think of yourself for a change."
Stone was silent for a while and then, "Deputy Whipple?"
"Yes?"
"You need to think for yourself too. Let go of Tom."
"Is this the part where you ask me to join the dark side?" Wade asked suspiciously.
"No, but if I survive my relationship with the doctor then maybe I'll look you up, and we can go on that date."
Now Wade blushed again, "I'll be here. Well, not here, exactly, but, you know. Now, did you say the man you were working for was a doctor?"
But Agent Stone was done with the flirting and the chit chat. He just hoped that Dr. Robotnik really would come back for him, and that he'd be able to define the relationship or at least get out of it alive.
