Superman didn't really see anything that stood out Amity Park immediately, even when he was flying over it while using his x-ray vision. While there were a few notable spots that popped compared to other small towns, with that lab Batman had mentioned being one of them, nothing raised his eyebrows too much. He put a hand to his ear, frowning.

"I don't see anything out of the ordinary right now. A few jumpy people, but everything seems peaceful right now." Superman stated, all business. If Batman insisted on checking out this place longer, he was going to miss a shift at the Daily Planet, and he couldn't afford that. "What exactly am I looking for?"

"What we usually look for in our line of work; trouble." Batman replied dryly, probably exhausted. Probably trying to make sure his kids don't burn Gotham down during another prank war, judging from the level of it he was exuding. "You've seen the video of that "ghost" attack. I want to make sure that wasn't edited."

"Come on, Bats. Do you really think the whole ghost thing might actually be real? Even if that video wasn't unedited, it was probably a pair of Meta's duking it out." Flash was heard on the same line, chewing on whatever protein bar he'd been eating. "It's still a problem, sure, but I can't believe ghosts can exist."

"As much as I'd like to agree with you, we have aliens, demigods, and might I add, speedsters to the team." Batman cut in before it could devolve into a rant on Flash's end. "However, that's the world we live in. Keep an open mind."

"I do keep an open mind. I just think there needs to be a limit-"

"Do I need to get Wonder Woman on the phone right now?" Superman stopped flying, opting to float where he was. "Batman's right, Flash. At this point, we might as well just roll with the punches. Hopefully not real ones, but those always seem to-"

"What the hell are you doing here?"

Superman turned quickly to face where the voice was coming from. He paused as his eyes nearly went over the figure floating in front of him, reassessing its height before getting a better look. A person in modified hazmat suit, a glowing figure, and very angry red eyes was staring him down, putting him ill at ease.

Guess he found one of the Meta's after all.

"Hi! I'm sorry to intrude on your town and all, but some friends of mine were getting weird reports and I wanted to check in." Superman was able to disable most angry people with the Boy Scout routine. Well, half the time. Batman said it sometimes made them angrier. "Not to mention some weird reports involving supernatural forces like ghosts and-"

"Then it sounds like you're already caught up. Feel free to turn around and go back to Metropolis."

Superman winced. Looks like this guy was part of the latter group. Great.

"We're not planning on doing anything. This is all being done for information purposes." Superman kept calm, avoiding angering this… was this a ghost? He seemed to be non-hostile, despite the tone. "Just a quick check-up."

"We'd be more open to tours, but we'd suggest advance notice next time. Especially if you bring any of your entourage with you." Hazmat (for lack of a better name) floated around him, face remaining severe. "It's a dangerous place, Boy Scout. Even for someone like you and every other god-like wannabe that works at the Justice League."

"We're not God- never mind. Not the issue here." Superman didn't think it was a threat. If the young man wanted a fight, he wouldn't have bothered talking to him in the first place. "And if there is something dangerous going on, we'd be glad to help. We understand your concerns, but-"

"Superman, report in. We're getting weird reading from your position."

Superman paused, Batman's words forcing him to think it over. Hazmat paused, narrowing his eyes.

"They're talking to you right now, aren't they? It's probably the Bat. He seems like the communications type." Hazmat stopped, in front of him again. "Or is it the Amazon? Could be the blur too. Then again, he'd just come here if he wanted to talk."

"Superman? Who is that? Did you come into contact with the ghost with the hazmat suit?"

"The ghost with the what? Guys, Bat's is hallucinating! Sounds like he didn't get enough sleep again."

Superman would've told the two to be quiet and let him think, but the idea was shot down as he heard a crash from the town below. He and Hazmat looked down to see… well, something slither near the streets, people running from it in droves.

"Fuck, its snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?" Hazmat looked at Superman with a glare plain on his face. He stood straighter, a flare of power felt from his direction. "I'm getting you out of here so I can deal with that without you getting possessed or some shit."

"Possessed- wait, there are people in trouble down there." Superman pointed down at the street below. "Shouldn't we be dealing with that first?"

"Yeah, but I also don't want a Kryptonian running around with a nutjob ghost in the front seat." Hazmat reared back and Superman sighed. He really didn't want to fight this kid. "And don't worry, I'll give an excuse to your friends up in space for you."

As he put up his hands, Superman wondered why this kept on happening to him. He could already imagine Lois tapping her foot after he explains why he's late. Probably going to go all "wonderful job, Small-"

"CLARK!"

Superman woke with a start, fists raised and shooting up in the air. He looked around himself, noting that he wasn't over the town, but at the outskirts when he finally was able to collect himself.

"Clark, if you don't answer me, I will come down there myself." Wonder Woman's voice rang out from the communicator. It would've scared him if he wasn't so damned confused. "If this is the copycat, I would suggest coming to me if you want a real fight."

"Wonder Woman, we shouldn't engage unless any actual destruction happens." Batman sounded tense, but still attempting to be rational. "And keep to codenames, we can't risk our identities falling into the-"

"Guys, it's me! Have ya'll gone crazy?" Superman was finally able to get a word in, his Kansas accent slipping out. "I've only been asleep for- wait, how did I get to sleep?"

"Clark? Oh, thank God." Batman's relief was palpable. It almost warmed Clark's heart, even if he knew the man would deny it later. "Cla- Superman, what's the last thing you remember? Things got strange for a few seconds and then you went dark."

"He means you started to sound like some weird punk off the street than the country boy scout we know and love." Flash's jokes felt forced. That usually wasn't a sign of a mission gone right. "Never heard such a potty mouth on you before."

"Somebody please start making sense here. I just woke up from a very unscheduled nap and I'm feeling a bit cranky." The sun was lower. Time had passed. Why couldn't he remember how he got here? "Did I get into fight with the ghost?"

"…You might want to hear this yourself, Supes."

A click was heard on the other end. Superman floated closer to the ground, wiping grass off of his body as he listened close, Batman's voice taking over.

"Superman, report in now. This is a different form of radiation than I'm familiar with and I don't know how it'll effect you."

"Oh, I think he's dealing with it just fine."

Superman stopped at the sound of his voice, the tone unfamiliar to how he normally interacted with his team. It sounded more aggressive, rawer.

It sounded like that kid.

"…Who is this? What have you done with Superman?"

"The Boy Scout is fine. I'm just getting him away from the danger zone so I can do my work in peace." Hazmat said, still in Superman's voice. It was eerie to herself like this, especially to a trusted teammate. "I guess this is an effective way to get my point across so none of you costumed nuts decide to meddle in all of this."

There was a beat before Hazmat spoke again. Superman tried to distract himself from the conversation as he kept searching himself over, for wounds this time. "I want to make three points clear here."

"You're not in any position to make demands-"

"Not demands, Bats. I'm making three points." Hazmat cut back in. It took a lot of guts to do that, in Superman's opinion. "One; I don't want any other heroes coming here unless someone sends a signal my way. I'm not the only one that can do this type of thing."

Batman remained silent in the recording, and Superman felt something on his belt. He checked again, feeling paper crinkle as he grabbed at the foreign object.

"Two; I also don't want any of your villains coming here either, no matter how sympathetic their backstories are. Can't have every Luthor, Grod and Joker walking in here and wrecking up my territory."

Superman brought the paper up to his face, unraveling it carefully. He could see some of the words printed on it in chicken scratch, making it hard for him to decipher.

"And finally, number three," Hazmat paused, taking in a deep breath. "I want every mention of this place and its 'strange happenings' wiped off the map. No one, and I mean no one, is allowed to spread what Amity Park has going wrong with it."

"…Anything else you want to say?"

"Just one thing; I could figure out a lot more about if I wanted to right now, just by looking into your friend's brain. But I won't. Consider this a favor, which I'll cash in now by asking you not to look into things further. Your friend will be able to corroborate that when he wakes up."

Superman- no, Clark's blood ran cold as he read the words on the note. It was one sentence, with name he didn't want the ghost to have in his possession.

The sentence simply read this; "Nice meeting you, Smallville."

"This is Phantom, signing off. Don't contact me again."

As Superman burned the note with heat vision, he flew upward with his mind racing. This just got a lot more complicated.

Hope you all enjoyed that. Figured I'd write out this crossover sine I see it happen often enough in the DP fandom a lot. Feel free to leave more AU idea in the reviews/comments!
