Four months later, Snow, Charming, Robin, the Queen, Grumpy and Belle were seated around a round table in the War Room when the Doctor walked into the room, having returned from doing some reconnaissance. Charming looked up at him. "Doctor, tell me you found something."
The Doctor shook his head. "I've been to all the fairies. They've been looking everywhere to find any items that can destroy or stop her," he said. "But they haven't had any luck. The Blue Fairy says she's too powerful."
"It's happening again," Snow sighed. "An evil sorceress is threatening the future of a newborn child." Not to mention her unborn baby. What if the Wicked Witch did take her child because she couldn't get her hands on the Professor and Clara's? It made her worry.
"To be fair, I was threatening you," the Queen said. "Everyone else just became collateral damage."
"Remind me again why we forgave her?" Grumpy asked.
"She saved all our lives back in Storybrooke," the Doctor answered the dwarf.
"Thank you," the Queen said. "And, because I am helping. I'm helping you all right now. Frustrating as it is for me to remember, Snow, you had a head start to defeat me last time. How?"
"We were warned," Charming said.
"By Rumplestiltskin," Snow added.
"Well, maybe he can warn you again," the Queen said.
"Wait! You wanna sneak into Rumple's castle where he's being held captive by the Wicked Witch?" Grumpy asked. "Name's Grumpy, not stupid."
"It may be stupid, but my granddaughter's future depends on it," the Doctor said. "It has to be done."
"He's trapped in his castle," the Queen said, then looked at Belle. "Belle, you were a prisoner there."
"Yes," Belle said. "But breaking in? I would have no idea how. The Professor would know more than me."
"But he's preoccupied," the Queen stated.
"Luckily, I know how to," Robin said. "I broke in once before."
The Queen chuckled. "Why are we even listening to him? He's a thief. Which means he's not to be trusted. What are you even still doing here?"
"What I'm doing here is saving your arse," Robin answered. "The castle has traps. And deadly ones."
"Not more deadly than my magic."
Robin looked at the Queen. "They are if you don't see them coming."
"Well, maybe I'm okay with taking my chances."
"All right. You may be, but we're not. He's coming," Snow said.
That night, Robin, the Queen, Belle, Snow, Charming and the Doctor managed to get to the Dark Castle – Rumplestiltskin's home. The Doctor took them in the TARDIS and then, to make sure that the Wicked Witch couldn't get at it, made it a second out of sync with the rest of the Enchanted Forest. They entered through the front door and stood in the lobby.
The Queen approached the door to the dining room. Robin watched her. "Your Majesty. I wouldn't," he warned, drawing his bow and aiming an arrow at the door.
The Queen turned around and scoffed before reaching for the door handle. But before she could touch it, Robin fired the arrow. It whizzed past the Queen – who gasped – and hit the door, engulfing it with fire.
"That arrow almost took off my head!" the Queen screamed.
"Well, that door almost took off your arm," Robin told her. "Where I come from, a simple thank you would suffice."
"Where you come from, people bathe in the river and use pine cones for money." "Come on," Snow interrupted. "Let's go."
They walked into the dining room, where they found a tall cage in the far-right corner. And inside, there was Rumplestiltskin, spinning on his wheel. It was all he could do now to pass the time.
"Rumplestiltskin?" Snow asked, breaking the silence of the near-quiet room. She hadn't thought that she would see him alive again. But here he was. Sitting in a cage, spinning on his wheel.
Rumplestiltskin looked up and giggled. "Rumple Bumple isn't here. Rumple Bumple gone, my dear."
The Queen stared at her former teacher. "He is back from the dead."
"Dead. Dead. So much better ... Dead."
"He's lost his mind," Charming noted.
"On the contrary, now I have two," Rumplestiltskin interrupted. "Two minds. Mining time. Digging deeper in the grime."
Belle watched and stared at her true love. "What is she doing to him?"
"Nothing that can't be undone," Snow told Belle, then looked at Rumplestiltskin. "Rumplestiltskin. We need your help. How do we stop Zelena?"
"Round and round, the circle of time. Racing towards the finishing line," Rumplestiltskin said.
"This is pointless," the Queen stated.
The Doctor approached the cage. "Maybe for you," he said, then looked at Rumplestiltskin. "Hey, hey. It's only me." He reached his hand into the cage, which startled Rumplestiltskin slightly. "It's all right. It's only me. The Doctor. I'm not here to hurt you." He moved his hand to Rumplestiltskin's temple, taking a breath. "Contact."
The two men were silent as the Doctor used his telepathic powers to calm Rumplestiltskin's mind. "How do we stop Zelena?" the Doctor asked.
"Light," Rumplestiltskin answered.
"What?" Belle asked, stepping closer to the cage.
"Light magic," Rumplestiltskin said. "The Good Witch of the South. Glinda." "Glinda?" the Doctor asked.
"South of what? Oz?" Belle asked.
"No!" Rumplestiltskin answered. "Banished. Here! The Good Witch of the South was banished North. North … of the Dark Forest." He let go of the Doctor, and the Doctor let him go too.
"How do we find her?" Snow asked. "Rumplestiltskin … in the Dark Forest, how do we find her?"
Rumplestiltskin began to spin at his wheel again. "Through the door, step inside. If pure of heart, then she won't hide," he rhymed, then giggled.
