Clear Blue Sky Ch. 10

Cortez stood in the war room, she was pacing, "Someone better give me some answers, now." Her voice was strained. But as she looked around the room, she could see that everyone was on high alert, turning towards Hicks, "We need to find her."

Between 50D and 20D, they were coming up short, Hondo looked up, "Captain, we don't even know where to look for her, or even how to track her."

Slamming his hands down on the table, he damn near cracked a screen, "We know who has her, she would send a message or something." Rocker barked at him.

Street biting his lip, "Whip." Getting everyone's eyes focused on him, "Outside of Evie, he's the most tech savy person I know, and he's here, we brought him for his protection, no one thought that Evie would have been a target. He might be able to help us find the Ferrari in turn Evie."

Cortez took a second to think about it, looking over at Hicks, "I'm good with that, you?" she asked her commander.

Turning his eyes to Street, "Get him from the breakroom, now."

They watched as Street darted down the hall.

Rocker was on edge, if they hurt one hair on her head, he'd kill them. As much he wanted to go out in the city to look for her, he knew the only way he was going to get her back is if he remained calm enough to work. Staring at the screen, seeing how violent these men were, he was terrified for her safety.

Evie was doing her best to remain calm but being held at gunpoint was a little terrifying. Chewing her busted lip, she took her time, sending out a message towards the satellite hoping that someone in some form of law enforcement was looking for the same car. After another 6 minutes, she couldn't delay any longer or they would get suspicious. "I'm in," tapping a few keys sending her keystrokes to copy towards the satellite so that anyone looking will know what she was doing. Pulling the records up of the owner, she pulled the schematics of the house that the Ferrari was at, she also sent the blueprints to the satellite.

Looking at the man holding a gun to her face, "The Ferrari is here. The house has a top-grade security system, only way in is the code or hacked." Hoping that they would keep her alive until they got the car out of the house.

"I hope for your pretty face, you're not lying to me," taking the gun and shoving it under her chin, "you wouldn't lie to me, would you?" Leaning into her space.

All she wanted to do is punch him, but right now, she didn't have an opportunity, keeping her eyes locked on his, "No. I don't think that would be smart on my part." Knowing that antagonizing him wouldn't be smart, but she didn't want to appear to weak or he could enjoy tormenting her.

Laughing deeply, "No, it wouldn't." Looking at his second, "Let's go, it's dark, I want to get our shit and head home." Turning his deep brown eyes to his little hostage, "You do what you're told, you go home," putting the gun at her face, "but if you play around, I'll put a bullet in your head."

Nodding at him. "Understood." Sending a prayer up towards the sky hoping that someone find her breadcrumbs, the only access she'll have to a computer again is when they are in front of the house."

Whip was typing as fast as he could, looking through the lines of code, he knew of Evie, well her online handle, but he didn't know she was a cop, letting out a sigh, as he hacked the satellite, he stopped, the lines of code that were hidden there, it was a blueprint of someone's movement through the system. Looking up from the computer, "She's already hacked the satellite," feeling that SWAT was standing around him, pointing to the screen, "she literally left a how-to manual to find her."

Typing a little faster, pulling up the information, he put it on the big screen, "There, that's where Ferrari is." Reading her notes within the code, "she'll be there, because of the security system." Grabbing the lines of code and putting them into the system, he could see that she hasn't attempted her breach yet. "They must be on their way, she hasn't entered any new lines of data for their system yet."

Coretz looked at her watch, "GO, all of you. Bring her home safely." Putting her hand on Whip's shoulder, "Can you stay and monitor when she's trying to get into the system, the safest way to get her out of that is if they leave her in the van or take her inside."

Nodding. "Yes. Of course." Keeping his eyes on the monitor, "Do you want me to hack their system? I could essentially open the doors for them."

Shaking her head, "No, if they find it already open, perhaps her value is decreased, right now they need her, for the system and cloaking the car after they take it." Cortez was nervous, no one expected her to be a target, Evie was so far removed from the underworld, but now thinking of it, elite hackers are a small fringe group, but never did it cross her mind that someone would take a LAPD employee.

Whip only nodded, but his eyes focused on the screen, "She's there," pointing to the movement of code, she's making a digital trail." Typing he sent another coded message, letting her know that help was coming.

Looking at the line of code that came across her screen, a small smile graced her lips, someone was there. Typing back, she provided the laptops IP address, and the code for looking at her but not showing them, so they could observe.

Whip smiled, typing in the code, soon an image of a woman popped up. Turning his eyes to Cortez, "She's giving me remote access to watch her." Looking at her face, he could see that her lip was bloody. Poor girl.

Cortez could see the bruising on her cheek and lip, her eyes found Hicks, they shared a look. Taking her walkie-talkie- "All 50D and 20D, we have a visual confirmation that Evie is safe."

Rocker let out a breath, speaking into his mic, "How does she look captain?" he asked. Not sure he wanted the answer.

She couldn't tell him, he was already on edge, "Fine, she looks fine. All D teams, Bettiga and IL Monico, they are targets, go get them."

Now that she knew SWAT was coming, she felt a little better of her chances, getting into the system, "It's been shut down, if anyone's home, they don't know it, I've made it look active to them." The hope was to be at least tied to the bench of the van, but he grabbed her by the back of the neck and pushed her out of the van.

Letting his second take her, they strolled into the house, all Bettiga wanted was his drugs, and to set an example to anyone that thought it was OK to betray him.

Rolling up on the house, both teams quickly surveyed the area, Tan came back from inspecting the van, "No sign of her, she must be inside." He said the group.

Mumford could see that Rocker wasn't going to wait around too much longer, since he was the senior team lead, "OK, 20D, you go around the 3,4, 50D 1,2 side."

Moving in quiet formation, they approached at the same time, but Street pointed up, "I got a visual on Evie. She's with IL Monico, I don't see Bettiga."

Looking up he could see that she was scared but holding strong. Talking more to himself then anyone, "I'm coming baby."

Standing around as the boss went to go look for the car, movement on the south lawn caught her attention, seeing it was SWAT, she smiled. Looking over the balcony, she could see the pool, she knew that if they made entry and was confronted by the owners' men, that the bodyguard would kill her, she honestly didn't want to go out like that. Closing her eyes, she said a prayer, and turned her body towards her guard.

Counting on him turning towards her, she was beyond pleased that he did, double checking the balcony doors were open, she didn't wait or hesitate, bringing her foot up with enough force to bring him down, she kicked him straight in the balls, as he fell to his knees, Evie balled her fist up as Rocker taught her, and slammed it into his nose.

Not wanting to see if that was enough to keep him down, Evie turned on her heels and ran out onto the balcony and using her momentum on her right foot, pushing herself off and falling towards the pool. Crossing her arms and tucking her legs as she hit the water. A bullet came flying through the water. Swimming down, she made her way to the deeper end of the pool and counted, by the time she reached 65, she kicked towards the surface and grabbed onto the ladder.

As her hands wrapped around the cool metal of the pool, she took a big breath in, but as oxygen hit her lungs she felt a big hand on her shoulder, screaming out and taking a swing she felt her other hand get caught up, looking at her attacker, Evie let out a loud gasp. "Donovan."

He watched her kick the guy and run, never in his life was he more scared as he watched her vault over the balcony railing and free fall into the pool. He watched IL Monico stand and fire a shot at her, raising his rifle he shot him in head. Rushing over to her, he heard Mumford speak into the mic, letting HQ and 20D that they had Evie and IL Monico was dead.

Rushing over to the pool, he was waiting for her to pop up, but when she didn't immediately, he panicked, but as he got closer, he could see her swimming up to the surface, reaching down as she grabbed the ladder, he didn't expect her to come up swinging. Catching her fist that was headed towards his face, it took a second for her to recognize that she wasn't in danger.

Hearing his name on her lips eased his mind, body, and soul, hauling her out of the pool, he pulled her to him, not given a shit that he was wet. Wrapping his arms around her, his face buried into her neck, "Are you OK?" he asked, his voice filled with worry and relief.

Holding on to him, Evie didn't want to cry, but she was feeling pretty emotional, tears slid down her face, "Yea, I'm great now." The stress of the night coursed through her body, "Thank you for finding me."

Not letting her go, "Always." He meant that, he'd move heaven or hell to bring her home safely.

Taking her head off his shoulders, she placed a kiss on his lips, she wanted to keep her lips on his, but he was on duty, and she just needed a moment to process everything. Slowly untangling herself from his arms, "I really would like to get some warm clothes, can I go wait in Betty?" she asked him.

Rocker nodded, turning towards Mumford, "I'm taking her to the truck, you need me for anything?" He asked him.

Putting his arm on her shoulder, "I'm glad you're OK kiddo," looking at his second, "Go ahead, we're all done here."

Rocker grabbed her hand and headed towards the suburban, opening the truck, he put her into the back, and grabbed one of his go bags, inside was a t-shirt. Handing it to her, he watched as she stripped and placed it on. Watching as she reached under the hem of the shirt and pulled down her pants. Laughing a bit at how long his shirt was on her, coming down past her knees. "Looks like you're wearing a dress." He remarked at her.

Folding her clothes, she looked up at him, she smiled and rolled her eyes, "Well, you're a giant, so." Climbing into the SUV she waited for him to join her, leaning her head back, she could finally relax, it had been a very long night. Feeling him sit next to her, Evie leaned against him, but as he rubbed her cheek, she let out a hiss.

Darting his eyes down to hers, "What's wrong baby?" he asked.

Touching his hand, "When they surprised me at the market, the bodyguard backhanded me when I tried to fight." Seeing his eyes go red, "I'm fine Donovan. I can take it."

Growling out his frustration, "Lucky he's dead." He said, his voice was cold. He didn't care, someone took his love, and hurt her.

Her eyes were wide, ''Did you shoot him?" she asked him. Knowing that he wouldn't have done it unless it was necessary. Touching his hand, "I am very lucky to have you in my life. I hope you know that." She said, wanting him to know that she wasn't upset with him.

Gripping her hands, "I did shoot him, he was firing into the pool, I couldn't allow him to hurt you, I wouldn't survive without you." He did feel a little vulnerable, but if he couldn't show his emotions with her, then she wasn't the one, but as he exposed a part of himself that even Val never got to see, he felt her hand on his.

"You don't not have to explain yourself to me, I know you wouldn't have done it without a reason. You're a good man Donovan Rocker." Sitting up a bit, she kissed him again, but before she could get a little carried away, she pulled back, smiling at him, "I'd rather show you how grateful I am at home."

Giving her a grin, "You do know that I am going to make you scream my name baby?" he whispered in her ear.

Evie didn't get to respond, she caught movement outside the SUV, "Looks like everyone is back," giving him a look that made his dick hard, "I require at least 3 orgasms." With that she shut her mouth and watched him adjust himself.

By the time she woke up and was relaxed from the previous night, Donovan did give her more than 3 orgasms. Smiling at the thoughts, she was really blessed. She spoke with Jess that morning as she watched Donovan head off to work, letting her know that she was going to take the day, but if she needed her, she would work remotely.

As she cleaned the house, she could feel her phone ringing, hoping that it wasn't HQ, she really did want a day. Picking it up from the kitchen island she could see it was her mama.

"Hey mama."
"Hey Cricket, Mandy went into labor about an hour ago, just wanted to let you know." Letting out a deep sigh, "How's you and Donovan doing?"
Smiling into the phone, "OH good, are you and daddy heading to the hospital now? And as far as I know we are doing really well, he's at work now."
"Good, he's so handsome and so sweet, I enjoy chatting him when you call. Yes, daddy and I are rounding up now."
"That's good, keep me updated on everything, I'll make arrangements to head out head home by next week, is that good for you?"
"Of course, Cricket. Can you ask Donovan if he wants to come out here, I'd really like to meet him, you seem very smitten with him."
That made her pause, if he could get the time off would he even want to? "I will mama, after his shift. Tell Mandy I love her, and that I'll call her tomorrow night, since she'll be occupied tonight. I love you mama."
"OK baby, I will keep you updated with the text stuff. I love you too Cricket."

Putting down her phone, she made her way to the bedroom, laying down she sent Jessica a text letting her know that she needed to take a long weekend next weekend, needed Wednesday-Monday off.

TEXT:
Mandy is having the baby? Congrats auntie! OK, I'll put the request in. See you tomorrow, enjoy the rest of your evening.

TEXT:
Thanks Jess. Love ya.

Donovan walked into the house, finding her sitting with some pizza on the couch, "Hey baby, how was your day?" she asked him.

Sitting down next to her, "Good," grabbing a slice, "Mumford put in his retirement, he gave his 30 days." He was still reeling from hearing it from him as he was leaving for Evie's.

Turning her head to his, "Because of what happened yesterday?" Concerned that he was ending his career out of fear.

"He says no," taking a sip of the beer she had on the table for him, "He talked about wanting to end on a high note and leave a little early, then leave too late like Buck." Throwing his arm over the back of the couch, he settled in, "I get it. Then you add his close call, it makes sense."

Nodding, what happened with Buck was tragic, "So, it's between you and Deacon for 50 David. How do you feel about possibility getting your own team?" wondering if that was something that he wanted.

Finishing his beer, he took a moment to really think about it, "I mean it was what I have been working towards, but after Hondo go control of 20 Squad, I think that they are going to give it to Deac."

Leaning on his shoulder, "Either way, I will support you."

He wrapped his arm around her, "Thank you Evie. That means a lot." Finishing off his slice, he looked down at her, he could see that she was debating something, "what's going on in that head of yours?" he asked her.

Smiling up at him, "Mandy is in labor, mama asked me to come out next week. I already got the time off from Jess, I was wondering if you can get the time off, would you like to join me? Or do you think it maybe too soon to meet the family?" Not really sure about time frames on what was appropriate in relationships or not.

Smiling widely at her, he rubbed his thumb on her cheek, "I'll talk to Hicks in the morning, if I can get the time off, I'd love to come." It was the perfect opportunity, he knew someday, he would want to marry her, getting her family on board with him would be helpful. Pulling her close, he gave her a deep kiss, "I'm a little tired baby, mind heading off the bed with me?" he said in mid-yawn.

Standing up, she extended her hand, "Me too."

They prepared themselves for the night, and Evie realized that he had pretty much been at her home every night for over 3 months, as she laid down, she looked at him, she was in love with him, perhaps if this trip went well, she'd ask him to move in with her.

Pulling her close, he wrapped his large arms around her, "Night Evie. Love you." His voice groggy and tired.

"I love you too."
