Clear Blue Sky Ch. 19
Rocker watched how she ran through HQ, smiling at her pace. He knew that over the last few weeks she has been focused on finding a way to close in on the leak in the department that was pulling all their information. Both he and Hondo wanted to know who was doing it, but Hicks said until they had unquestionable proof, the name couldn't be revealed until there was more proof. He wanted to ask her, but she told him after the meeting, that while she loved him, Hicks was her commanding officer, she needed to respect the chain of command. Hondo tried to make a argument about it, but she shut him down too, saying that while she understood, there were times that both he and Rocker had to keep things from their teams because of insolation; they didn't have to like it but it was what was being asked.
He felt someone stand next to him, looking to his left, "Hey Hondo."
Nudging his shoulder, "She say anything man?" he asked.
Shaking his head, "No, I know she wants to, but she is trying to follow Hick's command. It's him that needs to let us into the loop." Hitting the bag, "I hate that he's putting her in the position, but I'm doing what I can to respect it."
Rubbing his face, Hondo understood, one thing about Dixie she wouldn't break. "I can respect that, but we need to get a resolution quickly." Sitting down on the bench near the bag, "So, engaged, how did her family take it?" he asked.
Hitting the bag a few times, "Really well, her mom was thrilled, Mandy threatened me not to fuck it up, and well James, he said that's his baby girl, he loves her more than me, and if I make her cry, I'd end up disappearing, but he gave me his blessings." Laughing at the memory of the phone conversation.
Hondo chuckled, "Sounds about right. You guys are going to be the cute little white couple on top of the cake." He teased.
Rolling his eyes, "Hilarious. Please let me know how that joke goes over with Evie." He snickered when Hondo had that look of fear in his face.
Pushing him, "Don't you dare tell her. She scares the hell out of me when she's upset." He was only half joking. Evie was a force when you messed with her too much.
"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me." His eyes looking up to the noise coming down from the second floor, hitting Hondo on the shoulder, they watched as Hicks, Lynch, and Evie came running down.
Both of them stood up, "What's going on Commander?" Hondo asked.
"Another prisoner escaped, Connor Pope, Tan is one the targets. We need to find him." Looking at Rocker and Hondo, "Where is Tan?"
Evie didn't wait, she hacked his phone, "He's at the Riverwalk." Looking up. "We need to go. Right now."
Hick looked at Rocker and Hondo, "Go, now. Bring him in." He watched as his top Sgt's ran towards the motor-pool. His eyes found Evie. "Tell me you're close to nailing him?" he said.
Pulling up the data, "Yes sir. Since Jim's attack, I was able to get more into his network, we have him, and his other accomplices, 3 in total sir. How do you want to proceed, one of his anchors is in the D.A's office." She said to him. Handing over the tablet. "This has all the evidence, that someone would need to hold the case together."
Taking the tablet, he reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone, "Commander Hick's, I need to speak with Mayor Barrett." Heading towards his office, he knew that this conversation was going to be intense, and would need the approval of the mayor, and the Police Commissioner.
Evie looked at Lynch, "He could come after you too," pulling up the case file, she locked eyes with her, "And the housekeeper."
Lynch froze, her eyes looking at her, "Why would he go after her?" she asked.
Evie wasn't stupid, "Look, I read the case, it's no coincidence that the ledger just fell into Tan's lap, and the fact that she disappeared right after the case." Looking around she could see that she was alone, "I don't care why you did it, I even get it, but whatever your reasons for it were, she's in danger until Connor is back in custody. So, let's find her, hide her, whatever. You and me. Our secret."
Nodding, Lynch headed towards the motor pool with Evie in tow.
As they drove towards her house, Lynch looked over at her, "Thank you. I never told anyone the truth. I never asked her to throw the ledger, she did that on her own." Taking a deep breath, "But I knew how dangerous he was, so I made her disappear, because if she had to testify, I was afraid that she wasn't going to make it to the court date."
Chewing on her lip, "I get it. Plus, your secret is safe with me." Looking over at her, "It's not easy living in the gray area, is it?"
Shaking her head, "No. It's not. But I do it because no one else can."
This was the first time since meeting Lynch that she actually felt that she cared about something other than her career. "Thank you for sharing this. I know it's not easy for you to be so open. Especially with a subordinate."
Laughing, "No. It's not. But thank you very much for listening to me." Turning her attention back to the road.
She could only nod her head, her eyes focused on the road ahead of her, she knew that this could be a tense situation for them, and the team. Looking down at her phone, she was waiting for the sign of all clear from Donovan.
Rolling up on the diner that Tan's phone was pinging at, Rocker looked at Hondo, "Do you see him?" he asked.
Pointing ahead, "Shit, he's with Bonnie." Before jumping out of the car, he looked around, "There. 1 black SUV, that's Pope." Picking up the walkie-talkie, "All available units, this is Sgt. Daniel Harrelson with Sgt. Donovan Rocker, we have eyes on Connor Pope. Send additional units to our location." Turning his head to Rocker, "You ready?"
Putting a bullet in the chamber, "Yea. I suggest we approach from the 3 side; I will take the 1."
Smiling at him, "Let's go."
Moving swiftly towards the SUV, Rocker took point, he could see that Hondo was about to reach the driver, but before they could effectively surround the vehicle, Pope stepped out, raising a gun towards Tan. "LAPD, DROP YOUR WEAPON NOW." He yelled out.
Hondo grabbed the driver and put him in cuffs, keeping his foot on his back he held his gun on Pope, careful of the crossfire with Rocker.
Pope looked around, frustrated that his plans for revenge were taken, but he didn't want to die, LAPD SWAT wasn't a joke. Placing the gun down, he looked at the approaching officer, "I wanna make a deal."
Grabbing him and placing him in cuffs, he read him his rights, "That's for a lawyer, not me." Looking at Tan who was holding a scared Bonnie. Rocker handed off the inmate to a uniform and told him to bring him to SWAT HQ.
Walking over to Tan, "You good?" he asked.
Tan nodded, "What the hell was that?" he asked.
Hondo joined them, "Seems like you were a target for Connor Pope, but Evie's spiderweb plucked and figured out you were in danger." Looking over at Bonnie, "You good?"
She held onto Tan like her life depended on it, "Is this about the SWAT info that keeps getting leaked?"
The guys all shared a look, but it was Tan that talked to her, "Yea. Evie has been digging in. She had trip wires on all of our information, that's how they were able to get her so quickly, someone set off a one her traps."
Bonnie liked Evie, she was so sweet, and kind. Now she owed her their life. "Where is she, I'd like to thank her."
Rocker smiled, "She's probably at HQ." Reaching for the walkie- "This is 50-David to command, Connor Pope is in custody and heading to HQ. Status on Evelyn Powell."
"Dispatch to 50-David, she's out on a call with Lt. Lynch. They are heading back this way, suspect in custody."
His eyes found Hondo, "We need to go. Seems like my fiancé had a field trip with Lynch."
Hondo laughed, "She's like SWAT light, tech savy, and sneaky. I love that girl! You got your hands full with that one."
Bonnie snorted, "Yea. It's always the tiny ones." Looking at Victor, "Let's go to HQ, make sure we're good, and then we can finish our breakfast." Grabbing his hand, she pulled him to the car.
Evie was sitting behind the glass for interrogation, after almost 2 years in SWAT, Evie never watched one, smirking, perhaps it's a good thing, some of the things that are spoken in here would probably give her nightmares, but watching Lynch work, was amazing. Listening intently, she didn't see that Rocker was standing in the doorway.
He watched her for a good minute or so, but he couldn't resist holding her, pulling her to his chest. "Enjoy your field trip?" he asked her.
Looking up, "Yes. She's an interesting lady. But she is very good at her job." Turning her attention back to the interrogation with the suspect they apprehended, he was going to shoot that poor maid.
Kissing her temple, he couldn't help but smile at her. "I'm glad you had fun." Turning her towards himself, "You do know that no matter what, I'm always going to worry about you out there, but I will never stop you from going. So do me a favor, regardless of who, what, or why, just text me that you're going out and with who."
Standing up on her tippy toes, she kissed his lips, "Deal."
A few hours later, Evie was standing around with the rest of SWAT grinning as they brought in Lt. Grayson, leaning against her man, "I am looking forward to watching Hicks and Lynch make him cry." She said to the teams.
Hondo, Luca, and Jim looked down at her, "You did good Evie." Luca said to her.
"Thanks." Looking at everyone that was standing there, "I just want to let you know, how sorry I am for keeping it from you. I would have told you if Hick's would have allowed it. I hope you know that." While rationally she understood why, lying to her family didn't feel good.
Hondo gave her a small smile, "While it sucked, I think we all understood. Until his network was found, we didn't know who we could trust." Pulling her into a hug, "You did a great job Dixie."
Looking at her family, Evie felt better knowing that they weren't mad at her. She felt a lot of pressure lift from her shoulders, her family was relatively safe, she could now focus on the wedding. Her eyes found Donovan's, smiling at his smirk. "What?" she asked him.
Shaking his head, "Nothing baby. Just happy to have you in on our team, without you, Lt. Grayson and company could have been hiding for years."
"I will do whatever I can to protect the ones I love." Giving Street a smirk, "Or ones that don't annoy me too much." She teased.
TIME JUMP – 9 MONTHS LATER
"Evelyn, would you please stop pacing, you're making me dizzy." Christina said to her daughter.
Stopping immediately, her eyes finding her mama and sister staring at her, "I'm sorry mama, I'm a little nervous."
Mandy stood and wrapped her arms around her shoulders, "You look wonderful, it's time to get ready and meet daddy." Looking over at her mama, they shared a look, smiling, "Relax Cricket. You wanted this, remember, you love him, remember?"
Evie snorted at her sister, "Right. I love him. We planned this. I can do this." Turning towards the mirror, she couldn't help but smile.
Her dress was tea length, off white with undertones of blush, and her favorite part was the lace overlay. It was a simple dress, cost her about $200.00 bucks. She couldn't believe that everything was so beautiful yet so simple. Standing in the tent she peaked through the curtains, seeing both her SWAT family and her family. She could see that her mother laid out a beautiful blush carpet, and lined it with flowers, and towards the alter she could see the beautiful arch way that Mandy made. It reminded her of the one that she made for her wedding.
Turning towards her mama, "How's the other tent, is it set up?" she asked. Looking at her sister, "I'm doing that thing again?"
Mandy laughed, "Don't worry about it Cricket, you're fine. I think all brides start acting crazy the day of the wedding." Snorting, "You're doing a lot better than I did. You remember."
Christina laughed, "Very true, you were a nightmare." Turning towards her cricket, "Everything is ready, once the ceremony is done, it's all ready to go. Your sister made a beautiful cake, everything is perfect."
Touching her cheek, she gave her a small smile. All the ladies turned towards the curtain opening.
Standing in a pair nice dress slacks, and a button-down cream shirt was her daddy. "You look nice daddy." She said with a tear her eye.
James made his way towards his little girl, looking her over, he couldn't help but smile, she looked so much like her mother on their wedding day. "Oh, my beautiful little girl. You look lovely. He's a lucky man." Pulling her into a hug, he held her for a good minute or two. "It's time baby girl."
Stepping back, she looked at her mama, then sister, giving them a small nod. She watched them step out of the tent and make their way down the aisle. Letting out a deep breath, she looked at her daddy, "I'm ready."
Extending his elbow, he smiled "Let's go cricket."
She smiled as she walked through the curtains, her eyes finding the love of her life. Once she locked her eyes on him, she knew that everything would be good, there may be difficult times ahead, but she knew in her heart that they were going to face them together.
TIME JUMP- 2 YEARS LATER
Evie was staring at the door, almost willing him to walk through the door. Needing to occupy her mind or she would drive herself nuts, she stood up and headed towards the kitchen, she knew that he was going to have a long shift, and that she would be working remotely if that's what Hicks wanted. But for now, she was going to make some cookies, it would take some time, but always give her something else to think about.
Donovan was tired, his body was sore from busting down the door, all he wanted to do was go home, shower, hold his wife, and make her cum around his cock. Maybe somewhere in there have some food. As he walked through the door, he couldn't help but smile at the smell of cookies. "Hey baby, I'm home."
Stepping out of the bedroom, she could see that he was tired, "Hey. Go, shower, I'll warm some food up for you." She said and kissed him on the lips.
Smiling down at her, he could see that she was just wearing his t-shirt, letting her kiss his lips. He gave her a smirk and picked her up and headed off to the shower. Swatting her ass as she giggled at him.
Not even taking off their clothes he walked right into the shower and turned it on, her yelping at the cold only made him laugh harder.
Evie growled out at him, "This is cruel." She yelled.
Gently putting her down, he smirked at her, "No, not yet." Taking off his shirt and shucking his pants to the corner of the walk-in shower, he found himself naked and wanting to be buried in his wife. Putting his hand on the collar of his t-shirt, locking eyes with her, he gave her a smirk and ripped the shirt in half. "I love seeing you naked baby." Wrapping his fist in her hair, he pulled her head back and kissed her roughly, using his other hand, he slid it down her body until he could feel her ass. Letting go of her hair, he brought his other hand and gripped her, lifting her up and slamming her into the wall. His nose in her neck, "I'm going to fuck you baby, and you're going to cum all over my cock." He growled out.
Wrapping her hand around his shoulders, she couldn't help but feel him, groaning out when he gently bit her neck. "Please Donovan, I need you." She begged. She didn't have to wait long, she felt him plunge himself deep into her body. Screaming out, she loved it when he was rough with her.
His body shuttering, as her pussy clamped around him, he had to take a few calming breaths, gripping her hips he pulled himself out, and slammed himself back inside her warm body. Holding her legs apart with his hips, he set an extremely brutal pace.
As the water started to cool, he reached in between their bodies, he lightly pinched her clit, "Cum for me baby."
Her body almost responding almost immediately. "Fuck Donovan, please."
Feeling his balls tighten, he slammed her into the wall a few more times before he could feel his cum coating her walls. "Jesus Evie." He moaned into her neck.
She was only able to hold on to his shoulders, but just barely. Her head tilted back and hit the wall. "I need to tell you something." She mumbled out. Her body still shaking, from her orgasm.
Turning off the water, he wrapped a towel around her and himself. Picking her up bridal style, Donovan carried her to the bed, laying her down, he crawled in after her. "Oh, yeah, what's that?" he asked, as he pulled her into his arms.
"I'm pregnant." She whispered to the room.
He froze, turning his body towards her, resting on his elbow, he cupped her face, "We're having a baby?"
Smiling up at him, "Yes. I found out today, that's why I've been so nauseous. I guess taking out that implant a couple months ago did its trick." Stroking his face, "You still want this?" she aske him.
Not even answering her, Donovan leaned down and kissed her deeply. "I love you so much Evelyn."
Holding his shoulders, she couldn't help but yawn, "I love you too." Snuggling deeper into his chest, "We have an appointment tomorrow morning at 10am. Hopefully we can see the baby."
Holding her tightly, he settled down for the night, holding his wife, who would have thought, a little tiny woman from Tennessee would be the biggest part of his life. Not exactly sure what he did right to have her in his life, all he knew was that he would work everyday to show her that she made the right choice in choosing him. Looking down, he could see that she was dozing off, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, he placed his giant hand on her stomach, glad that no one was able to see the goofy dimpled grin on his face.
END.
(There will be an epilogue later down the line. But for now, I am ending this here.)
