Ghoul Break, With Family and Friends:
A Morning with Mami

The day was already underway on the Boiling Isles, and for one certain witch it was still too early. Eda grumbled as rays of sunlight crept through her (half-heartedly) closed blinds, and she turned over so the light wasn't in her eyes.

She smiled slightly as she settled into her nest for an extra two to six hours of sleep. She failed to hear the creak of her door opening or the pitter-patter of feet across her floor. Eda groaned when she felt something land on her stomach.

"KING! What had I told you about jumping on me in…the morning," Eda trailed off as she looked at the creature sitting on stomach.

The creature before her was undeniably her human, only much smaller and with slightly longer hair. Eda sat up, careful not to knock Luz off of her and studied the human. She would say Luz was about four, four-and-half maybe. Her skin and hair had regained their shine and the light in Luz's eyes were bigger than Eda had ever seen.

The owl lady grinned as she saw the result of her "little" act, happy that the rejuvenation potion had worked so well. Not only does the potion temporarily regress someone to a younger state, but they also have their emotions reset to that state.

So, all in all, Eda had seven glorious days to spend with her four-and-half-year-old daughter.

She blinked when she realized something; Luz should be younger. She had used enough of the potion to knock down her to a near four-year-old not a near five-year-old. So, what went wrong she wondered.

She got her answer when King stumbled into the room. The demon was having trouble walking, due to his collar not fitting on his smaller body and its tag dragging on the floor.

"You little sneak," Eda said, picking up her adopted son. "You stole some of Luz's juice again."

The owl lady studied her demon son and figured he was around two, two-and-half years old, and honestly she had forgotten how cute King was. Unfortunately, Luz didn't like being ignored, it seems, and began to lightly jump on the owl lady's lap.

"Mommy Edy! Mommy Edy! Eat! Eat!" the rejuvenated human chanted energetically.

It didn't long for King to want to manic his "big sister" and squirm out Eda's hands. The two began to chant in a near rhythmic fashion, and Eda might have smiled at the overly cute scene in front of her, if all the jumping wasn't starting to hurt her.

"Okay, you little gremlins," Eda replied with surprising warmth. "I'll make breakfast. Just stop jumping on mama."

The two toddlers got the message and they got off of Eda. Surprisingly the two waited patiently as Eda got out of her nest and did a little stretch. She then picked up King and took Luz's hand and led them down to the kitchen.

After fixing the toddlers the Boiling Isles equivalent of microwave pancakes with firebees honey, Eda learned that Luz at any age had her own way of doing things.

"Luz…" Eda couldn't help but laugh as the four-and-half-year human literally went face first into her breakfast.

She watched as the human began acting like some kind of beast, even making cute roars as she scoffed down her pancakes. It wasn't long before King was doing the same thing, but that was something he had always done.

Eda might have smiled warmly at this little scene if something had clicked with her at that moment. All Luz was wearing the shirt she went to sleep in and the now oversized piece of clothing was getting covered in honey.

"I think I better call Lily later and see if she could dig up some of our old clothes," Eda muttered to herself as she grabbed a washcloth and wet it.

She called Owlbert and told him to get one of Luz's spare shirts and began to clean her charge's face. Luz didn't put up a fight as Eda cleaned her, she even giggled a little, like the wet cloth was tickling her.

The giggle was slightly infectious as Eda smiled warmly at her human daughter. That smile faded when she finished with Luz and looked at King. She knew from experience how fidgety he could get, and wasn't looking forward to cleaning.

Luckily, King has his memories and a short scolding was enough to get him to sit still long enough for Eda to clean him. She had just finished when her pailsman returned with the item. It didn't take her long to fashion the shirt into a make-shift dress and she could admit… Luz looked drop-dead adorable in it.

"Well kiddo, what do you want to do now that you destroy breakfast," Eda asked.

Luz got this look in her eyes, and Eda groaned when she recognized it. The rejuvenated human made a beeline for the living room, and the elder witch acted quick. She pulled a plant glyph from her hair and shot vines in Luz's direction. The vines gently wrapped themself under the human's arms and she was lifted into the air.

"Listen here, little Witchlet, I didn't go through all this just so you can waste Ghoul Break sitting indoors. You're going outside and playing like a normal girl," Eda said, startling herself with how motherly she sounded.

Luz pouted and crossed her arms as Eda took her outside, King hot on her heels. Honestly, the scene was so cute that it made Eda's fake fang hurt. She put the human down and to make her point, had Hooty closed the door and she put herself between the door and the human.

Luz looked around with an angry pout and spotted the mud puddle that never seemed to dry up. She looked at "mommy Edy" and put on a devilish grin that would make Eda's heart soar on a normal day.

"Don't you even think about it, young witch," Eda warned sternly as Luz inches closer to the puddle. "Luzura Noceda-Clawthorne listen to your mother and stay away from that mud!"

Everything suddenly came to halt and everyone looked at Eda like she had grown a second head. No one, Eda especially, was prepared from what she just said. Unfortunately, the shock didn't last long for one Luz, and she dove into the puddle where the others were busy being shocked.

"MY MUD!" Hooty shrieked, knocking everyone out of their shock state of mind. "No one but me plays with my mud!"

Eda was suddenly knocked down when Hooty shot out from the door, a near feral look on his face.

"Hooty stop!" Eda screamed as she tried to get up.

However, a sharp pain in her stomach suddenly hit and it was enough to force her back to the ground. She tried to stagger to her feet, but found the pain was just too much, and could only watch as the near feral house demon near her daughter.

What happened next was truly an impressive sight to behold. Luz took out two glyph papers out of her hair, and activated a glyph combo Eda didn't know. She watched as what appeared to be snow came from the paper and for the snow to turn into a jelly-like state a second later.

Hooty rammed into the snow jelly face-first and recoiled from the impact. Luz next used the plant glyph to swing onto Hooty and began to tickle him without remorse.

"OKAY, HAHAHA! YOU CAN PLAY WITH MY MUD, HAHAHA! JUST, HAHA PLEASE STOP! HOOT HOOT!"

Smiling broadly Luz jumped off of Hooty, and began playing in the mud again. Hooty retracted into the Owl house, passed a stun Eda. Everything she had just seen had left her so stunned that the pain in her stomach was forgotten and she stood up to get a better view.

The shock wore off and Eda found herself smiling in a warm, motherly way, and almost felt like clapping. She was again reminded of Luz's resourcefulness and the potential she had, even as a toddler.

"Mommy Edy," the sly voice of her daughter brought Eda out of her thoughts.

She looked down and saw that, in her daydream, Luz had used another plant glyph to tie a vine around an ankle.

"Ah farts, maybe this wasn't a good idea," Eda muttered as her leg was pulled out from under her.

With a cute roar, Luz jumped onto her witch mother and began to tickle her laughing the entire time. Eda wasn't a ticklish person but couldn't help but laugh as she took her daughter into a hug and tickled her back.

"Nah, this is the best idea I had in ages!"
