Ghoul Break, With Family and Friends:
An Odd Time With The Bullies

"Am-Am?" Luz asked as she tilted her head.

From their spots, Boscha and her clique watched their ex-friend freak out and run off. They had just happened to see Amity when she reached town, and Boscha had insisted they watch the two.

Everyone, however, became worried when Amity ran off. Everyone, except for Boscha that was.

"Should we call Amity back?" Cat asked her friends.

Everyone was in silent agreement on this matter. Things may have ended badly with Amity, but they weren't heartless enough to leave a current child alone.

Well, Boscha wasn't on board with this silent agreement. All she could think about was that her time had finally come. She could finally even the score with the human. Finally, she could get everything back, including the one she let get away.

Boscha walked from her hiding place and up to Luz.

"Hello, human?" the three-eyes said in an obviously fake sweet tone. "I think we need to talk."

Luz looked up at Boscha and a cheerful smile crossed her face. "Hi, Bo-Bo," the "knocked-down" human said with a friendly wave.

This only cause Boscha's anger grow. She would never understand what Blight saw in this thing, not when there was someone better, someone who by standing right beside her for years.

"Say, human," Boscha said in her still fake tone. "Can you tell what Amity sees in you?"

Luz's eyes suddenly lit up and she began listing off the things that she sees in Amity. Boscha was a little taken back by this. Soon, however, she found herself nodding along, a soft smile dancing across her face with a faint blush accompanying it.

She shook her head when she realized what was happening, and glared at Luz. "No, human, I want to know what Amity SEES in you!" Her tone wasn't as sharp as she would have liked, but it still got her point across.

Luz looked up at Boscha, confused, for about two seconds. "I make Am-Am happy," she replied happily.

Well, that was it; whatever furry Boscha had lost returned with a vengeance, and she decided it was time to give the human the spanking she promised. Luz, no doubt sensing she was in danger, offered a playful smirk and took off running down the street.

"Get back here, human," Boscha shrieked as she took off after Luz.

The others quickly gave chase, afraid that Boscha might hurt the human. To their surprise, Boscha summoned a weak fireball-just powerful enough to leave a small burn-and threw it at Luz.

The "knocked-down" human wasn't going to have any of that, and spun around on her right heel. She took out a paper and activated its glyph. At first it looked like a normal ice glyph, but it soon turned out to be another new combo.

The ice suddenly turned to water when it was inches from the fireball and it was doused. To the group's surprise, an ice shard, roughly the size of pea, came flying out of the steam created from the doused fireball, and hit Boscha right in her third eye.

Boscha's group and Luz gasp as the demon held her eye and cried out in pain. Luz rushed to her bully's side, guilty over the pain she had accidentally caused .

"I am so sorry!" Luz apologized, her voice sounding close to her teenage-self.

Boscha's friends gathered around her, and Cat tried to see how bad her injury was. Boscha suddenly thrust her hands out, showing her now black eye, and made a spell circle. Her grudgby ball appeared and with another circle the ball ignited.

Seeing the murder in the demon's eyes, her friends got between Luz and the enrage Boscha.

"Calm down, Boscha," Cat said firmly. "It was an accident."

The three-eye shot the healing student a death glare, but Cat wouldn't back down on this matter. Boscha could feel her anger grow, surprised that one of her friends would take someone else's side.

"Back off," Boscha growled dangerously.

But Cat wouldn't move on this matter. What's more, seeing Cat standing up to Boscha seems to give the others the nerve to stand against their group's head.

"Boscha, Cat's right, you need to calm down,"Amelia said calmly, with Skara nodding her agreement.

Boscha was getting so mad she was starting to see red. She was almost willing to call another ball and threw it at her so-called friends with all the force her body had.

"And while we have your attention, I would like to know what's been up with you lately," Cat stated calmly. "You've been even more testy since Amity began dating…Luz."

Boscha's head began snapping around, looking at each of her friends with a glare. Her friends still wouldn't budge on this matter, and this caused her face to get redder than Amity's before she began to date Luz.

"YOU WANT TO KNOW! Boscha screamed, throwing her ball into the air, and then angrily pointed at Luz. "Because she stole the only girl I will ever LOVE!"

Those words hang heavily in the air as the grudgby ball, the still burning ball, landed next the group. Thankfully, a nearby witch saw the ball and doused it before it could become a problem.

Back at the group, the shock was wearing off, and Boscha's friend exchanged looks. At some level the three friends were aware of Boscha's feelings for their former friends. But they just thought it was a schoolgirl crush and it would pass.

"Boscha…" Cat said, taking a step to her friend.

The demon wouldn't have any of it, and jumped back.

"NO, you wanted to know, so now you listen!" Boscha screamed. "For two months I did everything to get Amity to notice me. But it didn't work. And all this human had to do was show up and Amity's tripping over herself."

Cat frowned as she looked at the human and thought back to all the time Boscha had shown Amity her feelings. A few weeks before Luz had started to go to Hexside, Boscha had gotten clingy; she would sit close to Amity anytime the group was together. She would "encourage" Amity to try her favorite foods whenever they went to the Treasure Shack.

Cat nearly winced when she recalled Boscha pushing another Abomination student hard when she found them talking to Amity. It was quickly cleared up when Boscha learned that the student was asking about an assignment they had missed due to being sick.

The healing student fought to keep the frown off of her face. The more she thought about, the more it didn't seem like Boscha actually loved Amity. Well, not the way Amity loved the human.

Cat decided to keep those facts to herself, and took a different route. "If you truly love Amity, don't you want her to be happy?" she asked honestly, and her friends nodded.

Boscha looked between her friends as her face started to flush red. In the deepest, darkest parts of her mind, the three-eyed demon knew her friends were right. But she couldn't let things go.

Ever since discovering her own feelings for the Blight some two months ago, she worked very hard to get noticed. Titan, the whole reason she showed up at the game field the other day was to try to impress Amity with a new trick she had been working on. Only found out Amity wasn't there, and seeing that the human was there, had ignited her temper.

It frustrated her to no end that all it took for some human to win Amity over was just being a dork.

No, Boscha wasn't going to let this chance blow by her. She knew what she had in mind wouldn't win her any favor's with Amity, but she had her dues (in her mind), coming to her and wasn't going to waste them.

The athlete moved to pick up her ball, but suddenly something dropped down and got between the demon-like witch and her ball. Boscha's anger immediately turned to fear when she saw the creature that was with the Clawthornes the other day.

Roca growled at the being before him. All of his instincts were telling it that this female wanted to harm its master, and let out a fierce roar. Boscha screamed as she took off running down the road.

Roca took off after the three-eyes, letting out short roars, and Luz and Boscha's group watched as the two disappeared down the street.

"Anyone want something to drink?" Amelia asked casually, after the shock wore off. "We are near a good malt shop."

The group agreed to the suggestion and gave the young plant student their drink orders. There was a quick gathering of snails and Amelia was off.

"Why is there a slitherbeast in town!?" Boscha screeched as she ran by her friends, said beast hot on her heels.

Though no one in the area was skilled in beast-keeping, they all saw that the Slitherbeast was smaller and had a bare right shoulder. That shoulder proved the beast was tamed, and probably was needed for something in the area.

This would be proven true when two young beast-keeping witches went chasing after the beast, one calling to it.

"Puffy, stop! That girl didn't mean to hit your tender sport! Please, stop! we don't have time for this; there's a report of a mud scarab's nest near the library!"

The group watched as the two witches disappeared down the street and looked to their right when they heard a sound. Roca was apparently done with Chasing Boscha and decided to return to its master's side. The sleeper gave the girls looking after Luz a warning growl before giving its attention fully to Luz.

"The worst thing ever….BOY BAND!" Boscha screamed as she ran by her friends again.

The two witches, one "knocked-down" human and single stone sleeper watched as five demons dressed in white and singing off-key danced by them.

"I want it that way!"

Once again, in the span of just a few minutes, Boscha ran by the group something following close behind her.

"EMPEROR BELOS!"

The group tensed up as the esteemed emperor, still on his throne, flew by them moaning. The group winced and looked away when Belos slammed into a nearby building.

"MY BACK…BUT I'M OKAY!" They heard the emperor and relaxed slightly.

"I DON'T EVEN KNOW!" Boscha screamed bloody murder as she ran by the odd mixing for the fourth time in the last five minutes.

The group cocked eyebrows as they watched what looked like gnomes and frogs dressed like gnomes ran by them. One of the gnomes or frog gnomes said something that sounded like "Shmebulock".

Cat, Skara, Luz and Roca looked down the road, and when Boscha didn't return for a filth time, the group fully relaxed. Roca gave its master a gentle nudge before jumping onto the buildings and disappearing into the shadows. Luz waved good-bye to her pet, and looked at the emperor when she heard a moan.

The group tried to keep their faces neutral when they got a good look at the state their emperor was in; the mighty Belos was sandwiched between his throne and a thick building. Strangely, his legs were out and sticking up in an awkward position, and somehow a dunce cap had found its way onto the emperor's head.

Skara popped out her scroll and began to type out a message.

"What are you doing?" Cat asked curiously.

"Just reaching out to a friend," came the bard's reply. "I'm sure he would like to know where the emperor is."

Cat might have inquired more, if Boscha hadn't returned at that moment. The group saw that she had numerous but small tears and holes in her outfit. But other than her black eye and a few bruises, the demon was largely unharmed.

Still, that didn't stop one certain "knocked-down" from showing her concern. "You okay, Bo-Bo?" Luz asked with great concern in her voice.

Boscha looked at the human with a weak glare, but let out a sigh a second later. She no longer had the energy to deal with Luz.

"Let's get you back to Blight before the titan's skull crushes me," Boscha said tiredly

The demon-like witch turned and began to look for Amity. However, her grudgby ball suddenly rolled into her path and she shrieked when she found herself, not tripping over it, but riding it as her sports training caused her to balance on the ball and go rolling down the street.

"WHY MEEEEEEE!" Boscha asked as the classic slipstick magic filled the air.

Cat, Skara and Luz all blinked in total harmony and looked to their left. To their surprise, there was a coven scout next to them, with their scroll playing the music.

"What are you doing here, Steve?" Skara asked curiously.

"Steve knows nothing but Steve still acts," was the scout's reply as he replaced his scroll with his trusty pipe. "Now, if you ladies will excuse me, Steve has a two-o'clock bonking he can't miss. STEVE!"

The group watched as the scout took up a heroic pose, and then dive head first into an open manhole and the cover mysteriously came to life and covered the manhole.

"You know that guy?" CCat asked curiously.

Skara just shrugged and was about to reply when they heard Boscha scream, "My LEG!"

The group gasped when they saw their friend was lying on the ground holding her right leg. They hurried to Boscha and Cat began to go through her lesson from school. She wasn't a fully trained healer yet, but she knew enough to do a on-the-scene check-up as they took Boscha to the nearby healer hut.

"Could you explain it to me again?" Asked Healer Willia Oldstone.

Willia Oldstone is a bit of an oddity in the healer and witches' community. While she uses all of the new technique and method the Healing Coven's Research and development comes up with, she also uses outdated methods that were older than savage ages.

Willia also happened to be a distant cousin of Cat, and she let the young student intern on the weekends…with the school's permission.

"Well, we didn't see the whole thing," Cat explained to her cousin, "But I think what happened was when Boscha managed to jump off of her grudgby ball, she landed in a mold-rat hole."

Willia nodded as she began to write up her report. "And you're thinking that when that happened, her momentum carried her forward and caused her to break her leg."

Cat was about to say something when she heard a grunt, and looked to her right. She watched as Boscha was wheeled out of the main office and frowned when she saw just how long her friend's cast was.

"Willia, if the break was clean, why is Boscha's cast so long?" Cat asked curiously.

Willia just sighed and finished up her report. "The break was clean, but the bone still broke a few centimeters below the waist. So, we don't want her to move it if possible. But, the break was clean, so if she stays off it, it should heal before Ghouls Break is over."
The last part was directed at Boscha and the demon just grunted as staff members helped to keep her seated as she tried to get out of the wheelchair. Cat looked back at her family when she began to give the student some instruction.

"Just give this to her mothers and tell them to keep Boscha off her feet," Willia calmly, as she handed her cousin a potion sheet.

Cat nodded, took the sheet and then usher Luz towards the exit. The "knock-down" human hadn't left the healer's side since they came into the building, being more bashful than normal. However, the experienced Healer wouldn't let the human go so easily.

"How's my favorite human doing today," Willia asked in a near motherly fashion as she got down on a knee so she was eye-level with Luz.

This caught Cat by surprise. "You know Luz?"

Willia giggled and looked at her cousin. "Of course, I know little Luzura. My family has been treating Eda's family since they were little witchlets. And Lilith brought Luz to me the first day she was rejuvenated, just to see if any of the rumored side-effects from that potion were true."

Cat blinked in surprise and slowly looked at the human. She wouldn't deny Luz had some celebrity status, but she didn't realize just how big that status was getting. But such matter could wait for later.

What Cat needed to focus on was getting Boscha home and Luz back to Amity …not in that order necessarily.

The group left the healing office and then helped Boscha get onto her staff. Suddenly, Amelia came running up to them, a drink tray hovering in her magic.

"There you are! I began looking all over for you guys," the plant student exclaimed, slightly winded.

Cat, Boscha and even little Luz aimed glares at Skara. The flyer derby bard student's face hadn't left her scroll since their encounter with Steve. She looked at the group when she realized all the eyes on her and gave them a sheepish smile.

"Opps, I was to get in touch with Amelia, right?" the bard said sheepishly. "HAHAHA, sorry I got caught up in something."

Boscha, Cat and Amelia sighed, somewhat used to this behavior from their friend. Amelia, instead of fuming, began to hand the drinks she had to her friends.

"We have Nocturnal-Nutrition for Cat. Skara's usual rubbleberry mix, and a riot-beer float for…Luz, with non-dairy eye-scream," Amelia named off the drinks as she handed them out, only to turn skittish when she reached Boscha. "Sorry, Boscha, but they were out of the ingredients for your usual drink. So, I got you a rubbleberry mix."

The sports captain just gumbled as she grabbed the smoothie and took a long sip from it. It was clear to the group that she just wanted to get home, but that would have to wait until Luz was back with Amity.

So, with drinks in hand, the group began to look for the youngest Blight. It was more than ten minutes later when Amity came falling literally into their sight, and they watched as she fell to her knees and the abomination goo fell off of her body and dissolved into the ground. Cat frowned as she took in her friend's condition and could weather a guess of what happened to her.

"Am-Am!" Luz exclaimed happily, and ran to her girlfriend, dropping her nearly empty drink cup.

I am ending the chapter here, as most know where to go if they want to know the ending. I also know no one will be asking, but yes, a little over 30 minutes passed since Amity 'lost' Luz, but since they live in a world of magic, it probably wouldn't take them long to figure out what's wrong with someone's injury and even less time to treat it. Also, let's have some feedback on what you think of Boscha's aggressive feelings for Amity.
