Ghoul Break, With Family and Friend:
Mimi-Chapter: Grandmother knows Best…Not

"MOTHER!" Lilith screeched when she entered the kitchen. "What are you doing?"

It was later that night, after Lilith's parents had gotten back from their outing with Luz and Gwen had offered to cook for the entire family. Of course, Eda and Lilith had some…hesitation when it came to their mother cooking. Since Eda had to head into town quickly to get the last ingredients needed for Roca's Poop-a-way potion, she had left her mother a detailed list of what Luz can and can't eat.

Eda had whispered to her older sister to keep a close eye on their mother. It seems like Lilith's suspicions about her sister still not completely trusting their mother was right. And from what she was seeing, she could see why.

Luz was sitting at the table eating artificial Selkigris fin and eyeball soup. It was a fairly common dish on the Isles, but it was also strong and Lilith had learned from her sister that her niece had gotten sick when they were experimenting on what Luz could and couldn't eat.

And Selkigris fin and Eyeball soul was on the "don't eat" side of the list.

"Oh, hello, Sweat-flea," Gwen said, obviously missing or ignoring her daughter's outburst.

Lilith's body began to shake fiercely as she watched her niece take a cautious sip of her soul. She quickly calmed herself down through a technique she learned during her coven training.

"Mother," Lilith said, trying to keep her tone even. "That meal is clearly listed on the items that Luz can't eat. So why are you letting her eat it?"

Gwen's smile grew ten times as she replied, "Oh, that. I'm using an old beast-keeping remedy. It's a herbal mix used on creatures with weaker stomachs, to help them process foods."

Lilith's composure was quickly slipping, as she watched her niece. Luz had abandoned her caution and was eating in the only way she knew how, by plunging her face into the soup.

It was disheartening, actually, to see her mother fall back into her reckless habits, all because of a checklist. The former head witch could feel more composure slip as her mother began to explain how the remedy worked and she feels that with Luz's younger body, they use the remedy to condition the human's body to handle Isles food more easily.

Lilith calmed herself again, and decided a change of tactics were in order.

The former head witch popped out her scroll and quickly typed out a message. Hopefully, her backup wasn't too far away. Ten seconds hadn't even past when harpy Eda burst through kitchen door, murder in her eyes.

"Point me to the one with guts who tries to hurt my kid in my own house," Eda growled murderously.

Lilith pointed and Eda followed her sister's finger. When she saw what her kid was eating and who gave it to her, she was knocked out of harpy mood and her jaw dropped to the ground. She tried to yell something at her mother, but, well, you get the idea.

"Edalyn, put your mouth on," Gwen scolded lightly. "It's rude to talk without it."

Eda just huffed and glared at her mother. She then took off her right arm at the elbow and used to scoop her mouth off the ground. She next re-attached her mouth to face, and put her arm back on, all without taking her eyes off of Gwen.

"Mom, what are you thinking," Eda shouted. "I told you to follow the list!"

"Oh, don't worry about that," Gwen replied, waving off her daughters' concern. "As I was telling your sister, I'm using an old remedy to fix that little problem."

"Mother, that's not the problem," Lilith stated firmly. "What if your remedy made Luz sick? I just took her to the healer the other day. I don't want to face Oldstone's wrath again."

At the manage of her old friend's name, Gwen's face lit up. "Willia's still practicing? It has been ages since I last saw her. I should call her up and see if she wants to spend some time together."

Eda and Lilith's eyes began to twitch in a near rhythmic fashion as their mother began to gash about old time. Dell, who had entered the kitchen seconds after Eda, had a good idea where things were heading. So, he walked over to his granddaughter and used his construction magic to turn the surface of the table into a carrying tray.

Luz got the idea and grabbed the tray. She followed her witch grandfather to the living room, as he began to tell her about his favorite program; about a mysterious healer simply known as the Healer, who travels across the demon realm and beyond helping those in need.

Meanwhile, Eda and Lilith had their patience run out with their mother, and decided to take action. They grabbed the nearest objects to them and raised them over their heads, just as Gwen came out of her reminiscing.

"Umm, dears, why do you have each other's staff?" the elder witch asked as she was bonked over the head, which would be later known as the bonk heard around the demon realm…part 1.

Well, I guess we now know where Gwen got that bo-bo, right. Also, if someone doesn't know who the Healer is based on, they have been living under the sea for the last 60 years.
