Ghoul Break, With Family and Friends:
Mini-Chapter: Amity's Punishment

Amity dared to look up, and fidgeted when she saw the two pairs of eyes glaring at her with an intensity of a sun. It wasn't helping that the Clawthorne sisters were standing in such a way their mismatched eyes were in perfect alignment.

And she thought having one Clawthorne glaring at her was scary.

"Normally, I would be patting you on the back for everything you did today," Eda said seriously, "But, you could have put one of my kids in danger and I can't simply look the other way on that."

The owl lady took a step forward at the same time as her sister, and suddenly the "knocked-down" human got between the sisters and her girlfriend.

"Don't bully, Am-Am!" Luz shouted defiantly.

Lilith's expression softened slightly as she kneeled down and looked her niece in the eyes. "I wasn't going to bully her, sweet flea. But what she did could have put herself and, more importantly, you in danger."

Lilith then planted a kiss on her niece's forehead and Luz fiercely but cutely rubbed off the kiss. If it had been another time during this week, such action would make the former coven head gahs, but Lilith couldn't afford to get distracted.

The former head straightened up and looked at Eda. "Edalyn, could you please take Luz and feed Roca. I need to speak with Amity in private."

The owl lady wanted to argue, it was clear in her eyes. But one look from older sister, Eda decided it was best to let the former teacher and student sort things out on their own.

So, she picked up Luz who immediately tried to wiggle herself free, and walked to the door. She gave Hooty one order and was out the door.

Now, with her little girlfriend gone, the room felt like it got 10-degrees colder. Still, Amity was a Blight and she held her head high as she awaited her sentence.

"Amity, I am no longer your teacher, but I can't let go of what your action could have caused," lilith spoke in a firm and near motherly tone, one that caused Amity's heart to arch slightly. "But, before I pass my punishment, I want to hear, in your words, what you did wrong."

Amity sighed and looked at an apple-blood stain on the couch arm as she gathered her thoughts. Once she was ready, she looked her former mentor in the eyes.

"When I lost sight of Luz, I panicked and didn't rationalize things like you taught me to. I quickly put myself into a frenzy and began using techniques that are above my current skill-set."

Lilith nodded and folded her arms under her chest as she gave a small but cold smile to her former student.

"Correct, and because of that, you pushed your body past its limits and could have possibly hurt yourself. You should consider yourself fortunate that my sister had some replenishment and energy potions in stock, or you might not have the strength to lift your head."

Amity looked back to the stain, unable to handle the piercing glare her old teacher was giving her. Even though it has been months since they had interacted in such a manner, it was strangely conforming to know that Lilith Clawthorne could still affect her in such a way.

Said Clawthorne cleared her throat and Amity looked at her former teacher with resolve.

"Now, for your punishment…"

"Gotta say, Lily…this is lame," Eda stated dully.

Lilith didn't respond, her full attention was on the scene before. Amity Blight, wearing tan sweatpants, black sandlers and a tan sweater with the words "not such an awesome girlfriend" on it, was in the Bonesborough square, playing a harp and singing a song offkey. In front of her was Luz, who had snuck to her girlfriend's side at some point, and was doing a funny little dance.

They even had a cup in which some folks were dropping snails in . Strangely, Tibbles was still tied up, but it looks like he has been fed.

"Edalyn," Lilith spoke softly, "At the moment Amity's body can't handle much. But this punishment will stay with her, just like any of the physical labor I used to give her."

Eda frowns and studies her sister. She noticed how…off her sister has been since Amity came back and she saw the state her former student was in. She wanted to subtly ask about…but Eda was never the subtle one.

"What's with you today? Amity isn't even your student anymore, and, not that I care, but you shouldn't be punishing her like this."

Lilith sighed and looked her sister in the eyes. Eda nearly recoiled when she saw the shame in her sister's eyes.

"There's a lot I am not comfortable with telling you about, Edalyn…not yet, at least." Lilith looked at her former student and then in the direction of the Owl House. "I will be returning to the Owl House to begin dinner. Amity has 40 more minutes before her punishment is over. After that, help her back to her home and return home."

She then jumped onto her staff and took off before Eda could get a word in. The owl lady let out a frustrated grunt and looked back at her kid and her bossy boots girlfriend.

"Lily, when will you level with me and just tell me what went down with you and boots all those months ago?"

I'm just going to come clean on this one, but this is more of a setup for a future entry in the series I'm planning on turning this story into.
