A/N: Alright, welcome everyone to a brand new story. Well, new that is. This is an old story that I had lying around in Wattpad a few years back, but I have long since forgotten and revisited it thanks to Telltale announcing The Wolf Among Us season 2. So, being the person that I am, I decided to give this fanfic another shot. It took a bit to edit some parts of it and add some bits of dialogue to make it a lot more smoother and fleshed out than the previous version.

So, without further ado, enjoy the story!

Third POV

It is just another regular night for Bigby. The cold New York breeze and the regular horrible stench filled his nostrils. garbage, cars, cigarettes, while he heard several late night voices from people in the building and the ever so ever loud and irritating honk on cars that pass by. Yep the City that Never sleeps has made its reputation well known. Not that would matter to him anyway.

He groans as he walks along the sidewalk, his patterned "Huff N Puff" cigarettes on hand as he walks in the dark streets of Fable town. But tonight he wasn't feeling all that good to be honest, not after the trial. Nights after the death of the Crooked Man, and the whole Fable killing fiasco that he and Snow had to face. But ever since the trial thing has been...conflicted between him and Snow. Well not just her, but the entire fable community.

Ever since he had literally rip off the head of the Crooked man, and dumped it in the witching well, people have kept their distance from him. Everyone, Jack, Swineheart, Beast, Woody, Bluebeard, Holley, Grendel and even Snow. Nerissa is out of the picture since she is just thankful that the Crooked man case is over and that she is finally free. He sighs as he just couldn't help but think about what happened. Everything has changed since they came here. Everybody has changed from their simple past to things that they have never thought they would ever be. Him, a sheriff, Snow a mayor, Holley a bar maid, Faith a prostitute.

"Our stories used to be so simple. We have a beginning, a middle, and an end. But ever since we moved to this awful city...everybody had gotten so confused..."

The Crooked man's word rang through Bigby's head. Though the sheriff may not like the guy, his words do have merit to them. Life for them, the Fables, were used to be so simple-so straightforward- that it could be done in a matter of minutes. His talk with Woody at the bar reminded him of their previous conflict. And now look at them now. Him, the big bad wolf, the very thing that most, if not all, of the Fables feared is now a bloody law officer. Funny how things were right?

But despite everything, despite moving to the town and "starting off fresh"... people just can't let go of the past. Everybody feared him back then, and he tried so hard to not become that monster ever again.

But people just can't seem to let it go and he is ok with it.

He never really did care for much, but as time went on things have changed him. Collin, the pig is one of those changes. Bigby may not like him or his brothers in the past, but now...Wolf can honestly say that Collin is the closest thing to that of a friend that he had.

Too bad that he can't afford glamor. God knows how much trouble he could have avoided if he just listened to him.

The big bad wolf sign in irritation. Whoever is up there must've hate him and love to fuck up his life around. There was some distance between him and the other fable's now, people's original fear that the Big Bad Wolf is coming back and now are afraid of him just like it was back then. Bigby had to bite down a growl as he thought about the Fable's.

Who were they to judge him?

They weren't the ones who put their lives on the line, they think that doing this job is easy? He was stabbed, cut, battered and bruised. Hell, he even got shot by a silver bullet for crying out loud!

And yet despite all that, despite all that he did for them, they wouldn't let go. He was getting tired of them seeing him as the wolf from the past, seeing as the big bad wolf who hunts down little red riding hood. Even though he wanted that, for things to change, deep down inside of him, he knew that they would never let go of their fear of him. They will never let go of what they saw. To them, he is not Bigby Wolf-no. To them they just saw a rabid animal inside a cage waiting to be unleashed.

Bigby throws away his cigarette and heads back to The Woodlands. He walked for a bit, not caring around his surroundings as he headed back home.

The woodlands

Bigby approaches the gates of a rather good looking apartment complex. Stepping up in the small flight of stairs before entering the building. Looking around the quiet lobby of the apartment complex, he turned his head to a familiar board and saw his name permanently attached on the floor number, which made him a bit relieved since he is getting sick of posting his name over and over again every time it falls down.

"Hey, Mr. Bigby!" A voice rang in, making the sheriff turn around to see the source of the voice.

Bigby looked at a boy that was approaching him. The boy is no older than thirteen years old, has a mop of black hair, gray eyes, and was wearing what looks to be a mailman outfit. The boy's name is Michael Barrow, or others know him as the boy who cried wolf. He wonders why the boy is here, and for him too.

"What are you doing here, Michael?" Bigby asked, wondering what Michael wants from him of all people.

"Oh, I'm just dropping off a package for you, Mr. Bigby." Michael replied, getting a surprised brow lift from the sheriff.

Never in his entire life had he received any gifts from someone. He was never particularly close to people other than a chosen few, but never has he received anything from them.. So this is a first for him.

"Who's it from?" Bigby asked, approaching the young man as the said boy just shrugged his shoulders and pulled out a pen and clipboard.

"Don't know, it just says it's from a person that you knew. The address is from the west side of the city but other than that, it beats me." Michael said before gaining a playful smirk that bigby knew all too well back in the day. "You might have a secret admirer, Mr. Bigby."

The boy chuckled, while the sheriff rolled his eyes at the child. It's amazing that this was used to be the boy who lied about him eating their flock of sheep back then. Back when he remembered him being an awful little ball of trouble that would cost trouble by his own mischievous behavior. Now look at him. He remembers that the older and more experienced Fable's are not the only ones that have a hard time in the city. Some younger ones were having just as hard, if not worse than them. Michael is one of the few lucky ones to have an honest living. Even if it is a small job.

He doesn't have any parents and was working his ass off 24/7 with both as a delivery man and a cashier in one of the restaurants in the city.

While some...such as little red…

Bigby just shook his head at the thought, before taking the clipboard and pen and signing it.

"Thank you for your service, Mr. Bigby." Michael said, before leaving the premise and a wandering Bigby in the hall. He decided to waste more time and head to the elevator, press his floor, and waited a bit for the doors to close.

"WAIT!"

A hand suddenly shot up between the doors as it was just about to close. Bigby looked up and saw Beauty, Beast's wife, dawning her usual red coat, brown boots, and black pants. He saw her face gain a momentary shock before it disappeared and she went in the elevator. Avoiding him like he is the plague and just looks down at the floor. Bigby just looks at her for a bit before shifting away and saying nothing.

The entire elevator ride is just a bit awkward. None of the two say a word to each other and Beauty just tries to look anywhere but Bigby. At this point Bigby decided to just wing it.

"So...Beauty-" Bigby tried to start the conversation, only for Beauty to cut him off with a quick statement.

"I don't want to talk, Bigby." This instantly got him to not say a word any longer as he felt a slight sting on the statement. For Beauty, she turned her head to the sheriff before instantly coming back at the ground.

She felt guilty about how she said it. It sounded harsh and she knew it. But after what he did to the Crooked man, she felt a bit of fear towards him. Though, a part of her did feel relieved that he had done it. The crooked man had been responsible to the murder of the fables and was going to take Bigby with him own the Witching Well. A fate that is a lot worse than death.

And finally a third part of her felt bad that she harshly pushed out Bigby. For as long as she knew Bigby (which isn't a whole lot), he is pretty much a lone wolf (no pun intended). Always being alone and wanting it to stay like that. But there are some certain times that she felt that lone wolf persona that he was showing off was affecting him negatively.

Beauty wasn't blind by the sheriff's internal conflict. Hell, it was the opposite, in fact. For as long as she could remember, Bigby and her are somewhat neutral to each other. Even before all of the fables had been forced to move to the city. She didn't fear him like the other Fables do, but she also didn't associate herself with Bigby enough to call him her friend. Often than not, the times that they DID interact was when he came to her and Beast's apartment after they're neighbors reported them.

It was awkward, embarrassing, and uncomfortable.

But it was during those times, and her going to her job secretly, she had gotten to know a few bits and pieces of the sheriff that she never thought would associate with each other. Over time she realized that he was trying to change. Like the rest of them. Trying to adapt to this new life that they were forced to be in and trying to find a place in the world that they barely skimmed the surface on. Add the fact that he had been blamed for almost everything just because of his past or the situation had gotten worse when he was doing his job. Plus, with how he killed the Crooked Man, the citizens are on edge.

Even her.

But that doesn't excuse her for doing that to him. After everything that happened, the murders, the trial, Ichabod Crane, and the Crooked Man. Things were tense. VERY TENSE. And Beauty knows that Bigby was just trying just as hard, if not harder, to be accepted in the community after the whole ordeal. To prove that fact that he DID change. That he WANTED to get better and to be accepted. But the citizens never listened and just let their fear consumed them.

He may act like he didn't care at all, but Beauty is a lot more perspective than others gave her credit for and saw right through him.

Soon the Elevators doors open and Beauty gotten out of the door but not before glancing towards the sheriff and saying

"I'm sorry..." Beauty said softly, making Bigby lift a brow as he saw Beauty walk off and the door closed.

He waited a few minutes before he reached his floor. He walks down the long hallway until he reaches his front door. There laying in front of his doorstep was the package that Michael said. It was a rather decent size of package with a simple note attached to it. He approached the package a bit but soon his eyes widened in shock as his nose picked up a rather familiar scent.

A scent that belongs to a person that he thought was long gone.

Soon he reached up at the letter before reading it.

Dear: Wolf, or I should call you sheriff... It's been awhile since we last met and I just want to give you a reminder since you and I are going to meet very soon.

Sincerely: A ghost from the past.

Bigby turned his attention to the package before opening it. Easily ripping the wrapping off and taking a look at the inside, his eyes were now filled with shock as he was holding an old, tattered red cloak.

The one that Little Red Riding Hood used to wear.

Soon he picks up a voice in the hallway.

"It's been awhile, huh, wolf?" A voice rang through the halls, making Bigby turn around and saw a young adult that was about a year or two younger than snow.

Honey blonde hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a pair of jeans, a light yellow shirt and white sneakers, over the shirt was a red hoodie with a white zipper, and a small necklace of a robin.

Bigby started there at shock on what he was seeing

Bigby started there in shock at what he was seeing. He couldn't believe it, the person that thought that didn't make it when they moved in the city, is here alive and well. A person that he didn't think he would see again.

Little red riding hood.

A/N: And that is it for this chapter, everyone! I hope you guys like the story and honestly, it feels kind of good to revisit it after so long. Again, this is an old story that I just have laying around in Wattpad, and ever since TWAU season 2 has just been announced, I forgot how incredible the game was and how HYPE I am that it was returning. So I'm pretty excited on how the game would turn out.

Also, I would like to mention that this fic doesn't have any particular shipping. Right now, I'm kind of focusing on Bigby's character after the event of the game. I know that it may seem like another OCXBigby fanfic, but I'm not going after that. It's been a long, LONG time since I've done a romance-focused fic, and I'm not sure if I got it in my system. So, for now, the fic would be focusing on Bigby and him facing his past.

And as always, Leave a comment or critique on what you guys think of the story and be as brutally honest as you can, as long as it doesn't go below the belt or crossed unnecessary line. Alright, then I would see you guys later!
