Author's Notes: This update came to me early one morning and after reading the first chapter again, I'm thinking of a way to take them beyond the dream. You should read the first chapter to get caught up. Clark remembers but Lois does not, well, not all of it, but she could remember specifics but when. That's the set-up, and we begin, and I hope you enjoy it. Read on!

Chapter 2: Broken Dreams
It's now several weeks after the dream and it has not been discussed. Clark realizes that Lois is not treating him differently, only as a friend and a co-worker. Richard is no longer in the picture because he moved out. Clark is determined that she know the truth but he's unsure how to approach her.
Lois's bedroom early morning:
Lois Lane had always considered herself a steadfast believer in being honest and forthright about her feelings and emotions. Holding deeper feelings inside can only lead to trouble, meaning dreams of prior occurrences that should not have happened.
Groaning to herself, she sat up in bed and realized she's still dreaming of Superman, where he is and what he's doing. She remembered the dream, having sex with him, but not much else. She did admit to herself that it's because of the dream sex that convinced her to finally end her engagement with Richard. It's the end of summer; Jason is with him for several weeks. Still thinking of the dream, she needs to talk to Superman about it. Now in a robe, she headed to the bathroom to prepare for work.

Meanwhile, the previous evening:
In another part of town, Clark managed to stop before he drank too much liquor only a glass of wine but it's time to call it a night. He's leaving a bar with a beautiful long-haired brunette no less. What is wrong with me? He wondered. You know what it is, admit it. No way will I mention the dream since I acted like a stupid jerk through most of it; he prayed she wouldn't remember.
His 'date' for the evening needed a lift. Her girlfriends had abandoned her, and of course he, forever the gentleman, had offered to give her a lift. He groaned to himself and wondered yet again…Why did the dream happen and did Lois remember any of it?

Two weeks ago, the Planet:
The morning after the dream, Lois and Clark were in a conference room working and of course, the looks between them stirred up thoughts about the dream or it could be something else. Clark took a deep breath and tried to stay calm, but he needed to talk about it.
"Lois, about last night and what happened in the dream." He said and waited.
She took a deep breath and ignored him, like always. "Clark did you call the mayor's office about the update to this story?"
He sighed and answered her. "Yes, it's in my notes; I sent it to you a few hours ago," he replied. "Lois, please we need to talk about it, clear the air."
She sighed and closed her eyes, but she had a question for him. "Tell me, Clark, why are you talking to Superman about private matters that don't concern you?"
His eyes widened. Private matters? Is she talking about the sex in the dream? He wondered.
"Why don't you answer me?" She asked getting upset.
He chose his words carefully. "I don't know, but he wanted to talk about you and to apologize for what he said and if he hurt you or…" He stopped when she stared at him even more upset.
She closed her notebook and stood up. "I can't believe this; he truly spoke to you about me and the dream?" She asked feeling hurt.
He also stood up. "Lois, no it wasn't like that. He only wanted to check up on you; that's all."
"Check up on me?" She shook her head and began to pace then she told him how she felt. "Clark, you need to hear this. Superman came to me in a dream and… he said he loved me, we connected and now I don't know what to do with these feelings." Her eyes watered thinking of the words and the sex.
He came to her and pulled her close; she didn't pull away. "Oh, Lois, I'm sorry. I don't know what to say."
She pulled away, backed up and wiped away her tears with the back of her hand. "Why are you being kind to me; I treat you like dirt?"
"Because I care about you and I would never hurt you not like that."
She believed him. "Clark, I don't know what to do." She confessed about to cry again.
"Here, sit down; take a deep breath." He escorted her to the sofa and took her hand.
She looked down at their joined hands and thought of her dream, but that made no sense.
"Lois, I know why you're confused about your feelings." He paused. "And yes, I know about the dream and everything he said to you."
Still confused, she asked. "But why would he tell you and not me?"
He took a deep breath. "He loves you and he's confused the same as you." She narrowed her eyes; not believing it. "He has feelings the same as everyone. He's no different from you and me, except for the powers of course." He then realized that she has no memory of their life together, no memories at all.
She thought about it. "Then what he said, he meant it, all of it?" Her heart soared; she couldn't help it.
"Yes, he meant every word and he wanted to tell you in person, but he's been busy these past few weeks."
"I don't understand why he never tried to call me, text me, nothing. He has a son and he hasn't called to check up on Jason either."
"He needs to do better but being a father for the first time; it's a lot to think about. He has lived alone for a long time but he loves his son very much, and it's been tough for him to balance everything."
"I understand, but he needs to know how I feel about him." She paused. "Can you reach out to him somehow and tell him that I need to talk to him?"
"Of course, I'll try," he replied.
"Thank you, Clark." Grateful for his help, she pulled him close and gave him a hug but when she pulled away, he touched her cheek.
"He has no idea what he's missing." He leaned down, she froze but for some crazy reason, she leaned closer and they kissed, not too deep at first but then heads turned, and moans were uttered. He pulled away and waited for her to open her eyes.
Stunned by the kiss, she touched her lips. "Clark, what did we just do?" She stood up and ran from the room, confused about her feelings for both of them.
He decided not to follow her but to let her think about the kiss and what it could mean. Later that morning they managed to complete the assignment online. After his return, Perry had given them a private office, meaning they're partners again but they avoided each other. He did text her that Superman would be on the rooftop to meet with her at 6:00pm after work.
She thanked him by replying to his text then she stared at the blank computer screen thinking about Superman and Clark Kent, the kiss they shared in the conference room, and yes having sex with Superman in a dream. She shook her head and realized the time.
Clark is not at his desk, and she wondered about it then headed to the elevator. Now on the rooftop, she checked her watch and he's late. Seconds later, he drifted down from above his cape flapping as he landed then they stared at each other.
"Good evening, Lois. You wanted to talk to me," Clark said and came closer.
She also walked toward him, looked up at him and at once spoke the truth. "It's true that you love me?"
He couldn't help himself and touched her cheek, the same way in the conference room. "Yes, I have loved you for a long time, a long time," he replied.
She touched his hand on her cheek, still confused about the touch and her feelings. "The way you touched me, it reminded me of…" she stopped.
"It's me Lois," he said, the same words in the dream when he revealed he's Clark.
A dawning realization came into her mind. "It's you," she said and threw her arms around his neck. He picked her up, twirled her around, and set her down, then they kissed repeatedly. After a minute, still kissing but now they're floating up toward the clouds.
"Hold on tight," he said, and they flew up higher above the clouds. She clutched him close a bit afraid. "Are you warm enough?"
"Yes, I'm okay. I can't believe we're flying again; it's beautiful."
"You're beautiful and I know you love it," he smiled.
"Yes, I do," she said and leaned up for another kiss and he happily obliged. After a minute, she had to say it. "I love you… Clark."
Thrilled she would call him by his real name. "I know you do, and I love you always."
"I never knew how much you loved me, but deep inside I knew. I mean, everything you did to save me, all of us; I'm grateful but ashamed for not realizing the truth of who you were behind the glasses and underneath the suit. I'm sorry Clark for all the time wasted but look at us now."
"Look at us, we're together now, aren't we? I meant what I said about Jason and how much I love him, but he needs to know about his heritage and yes, who he is."
Now, back on the rooftop, she thought about his words. "Yes, he needs to know all of it and we will tell him together, but we do need to stay connected. Do you have a cellphone or some other way to contact me?"
He smiled. "Sure, I'll send you, my number."
"Thank you, Clark. You should know that Jason is in Gotham City with his father, I mean his other Father, Richard."
That took him by surprise; he knows about Batman and that crime-riddled city. "Is he safe there, I mean, Gotham City?"
"Yes, he's fine. Richard lives in a nice part of town. I've been there a few times," she admitted.
"Alright, then it's okay," he said but still worried.
"I'll meet you at the house in a little while, but can you come; I know you're busy," she said and smiled flirting with him.
"I'll be there," he said and came closer asking for a kiss and she obliged.
They kissed, deeply this time, and then he let her go.

Later, at the house:
Clark is waiting for her but he's not in the suit. The doorbell rang, but she's a little surprised to see him like this, but she grabbed his arm and pulled him inside. "Welcome home," she said and smiled.
"It's good to be here, Lois," he said, and then he pulled her close and kissed her, but he had to know. After several kisses, he removed her arms and asked. "Can we talk a little about the dream; I assumed you knew the truth about me?"
"Okay, we can talk but I thought you wanted other ways for us to connect." She said flirting in the mood. Now on the sofa, she's kissing his cheek and his throat enjoying it.
"This won't take long," he managed to say but her kisses were intoxicating. He pulled her closer and kissed her repeatedly. He pulled away and picked her up. "We can talk upstairs."
"Clark, wait," she said thinking of the way she treated him after seeing him on the plane and later at the office. He set her down.
"I need to say this and it's way past due. I wanted to apologize for the way I treated you when you first came back."
He took her hand as they returned to the sofa. "There's no need to apologize. I guess on the plane, we were both in shock at seeing each other again. I knew you were on the plane but to see you again mixed feelings caused your reaction; am I right?"
"Yes, I was in shock, but hurt feelings rose to the surface along with the joy of seeing you alive, staring at me, and asking me if I'm okay. Conflicting feelings were too much for me to manage, and I saw you fly then I fainted." She shook her head remembering.
He squeezed her hand. "All of that is behind us now; we can reconnect and show our true feelings. Are you ready?"
"Yes, I'm ready."
He picked her up again. She smiled holding him close, then kissed his cheek and his throat. "You smell good," she whispered in his ear.
Now in her bedroom, standing toe to toe, they began to undress. "Okay, we can talk about the dream while we're naked; it may work," he said but it may not.
She giggled, they climbed into bed then nose to nose, she said. "You go first." But before he could speak, she stopped him with a kiss.
"Lois, wait, we can talk before we, you know," he managed to say between kisses.
"I can't seem to think about anything but kissing you; I can't stop," she said between kisses.
"Me neither," he said and then there's no way of stopping either of them.
Lois felt excited and turned on, but she didn't want to think about anything right now. Everything she'd been feeling for a long time, but now it poured inside her heart, and it's accepted wholeheartedly. The warmth that she felt when he looked at her, made her hungry for him. It's painful to look at him, a beautiful man, a little shy, but the sweetest person inside and out.
She at once leaned in and kissed his chest. He closed his eyes enjoying her kisses then he pulled her up and kissed her passionately, not sweetly but like a man in love. He kissed her repeatedly; his lips were on her face, then down to her throat to her chest. Her nipples felt soft and welcoming, he kissed and pulled and Lois thought she's going to die; it felt incredible.
So beautiful, he thought. He pulled at the pink nub and Lois whimpered her need. He felt aroused, but he wanted to take his time with her. This isn't their first time, but she may not remember their past, but that didn't matter. He wanted her badly. She's on his mind constantly.
She opened her eyes and stared at his magnificent body and then he kissed his way down her body and he's between her thighs and she waited for him to do what he wanted with her. Her hands in his hair she held him tighter as he kissed all over her folds driving him towards that goal then she shuddered with rapture. He kissed his way back up her body then he's inside of her.
She's on the pill, no worries and she cared far too much for him. Then he's kissing her again, and then he pushed deeper.
It's lovely and wondrous. She closed her eyes and let it happen. They made that climb to the stars holding tightly to each other. He buried his face in her neck and then after a few heart-stopping minutes it's over. After a few minutes of sweet kisses and caresses, he left her body, reached for a towel beside the bed and cleaned them up a bit. He went back into her arms holding her close, her head on his chest and their limbs entwined.
"Now can we talk?" He asked as he stroked her hair and kissed her temple.
"Okay, go ahead."
"First tell me what you remember, and we'll go from there."
"Okay, I do remember having sex with you, meaning Superman and you said you loved me and I said the same to you."
"Anything else?"
She frowned. "What else is there?"
"Nothing else is more important than what we shared."
She leaned up on her elbow. "Yes, I agree." She returned to his arms holding him close, closed her eyes and leaned into him genuinely happy.
His eyes watered. "Yes, we're home, at last."
"Can you stay the night?" She asked thinking he had to leave.
"Yes, I can stay."
"I'm glad."
He pulled her closer. The next sleep will be calm and relaxing.

Morning came, and Lois is awake stunned to believe what happened last night. She made love again with Superman and to her utter delight, Clark Kent is here beside her; they're one in the same. She couldn't believe her luck. Smiling she reached for him but it's not him, but a pillow. At once she believed it happened like a dream.
She sat up but she didn't hear anything. Did he leave without saying goodbye? She wondered. Her eyes watered, but then he walked in with a towel around his hips and he's toweling his hair. "Oh, Clark." She whimpered then the tears.
He's worried. "Lois, what is it?"
She wiped her tears away, feeling silly but worried. "I woke up and you weren't here and I thought you were gone and you weren't coming back. I'm sorry."
Clark realized he had a lot of work to do to reassure her that he would never leave her again. "Come here," he said and pulled her close. "I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere."
She held him tighter still afraid. "I'm sorry," she said it again. "I don't know where that came from. You've been back for months and I thought…" She couldn't finish.
"Look, it's the weekend, it's quiet now, and we can take our time and talk, Okay?"
She tried to smile. "Yes, we can do that."
"Great, I'll fix breakfast. What would you like, pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, toast; you decide."
"All of it; no dinner last night," she replied smiling.
"Okay, you asked for it. I'll see you downstairs. Hurry up!"
"I'm coming," she said and touched his arm. "I love you; you know?"
He smiled. "I know you do."
She watched him get dressed; she left the bed and headed to the bathroom.
A half our later, she's at the breakfast table waiting for the food. It did smell good. "What did you cook and please don't tell me you cooked all of it?"
"No, only waffles, bacon and eggs."
"Perfect," she said.
He placed their meals on the table, along with butter, syrup, juice, no coffee.
"Wow, you're spoiling me, no question about that."
He sat down then they both bowed their heads and then began their meal.
She's curious about his faith. "Do you attend church and pray?"
"I pray to God, ask for forgiveness when I mess up and everyone does at some point in their lives; do you?"
"Yes, I pray, and my mom believed in God but it's hard for me sometimes."
"I understand and we can pray together like now; if you want; it's up to you."
"I would like that," she said.
"Okay, eat up before it's cold."
They ate in silence enjoying their meal, but later, on the sofa watching a replay of a football game, her cellphone rings; it's Richard.
"I have to take this," she said. "Hello Richard, is anything wrong?"
"No, I wanted to put Jason on; he misses you."
"Put him on," she said then put the call on speaker.
"Hi, Mom, I miss you," Jason said."
"I miss you too. Are you all having fun?"
"Yeah, we saw a movie last evening, in a movie house, had dinner and now we have plans to go to the zoo today."
"That's great." She paused. "There's someone here who wants to talk to you. It's Clark Kent; remember him?"
"Clark Kent; isn't he a friend from work?"
"Yes, he's a friend and can you speak to him?" Clark reached for the phone.
"Not now, Mom, Daddy Richard wants me to hang up now. I'll talk to you tonight. Bye Mom: I love you." He hung up.
Lois stares at the phone. "Sorry Clark."
"It's okay, but he truly doesn't know me… Superman, yes, but not me."
"We have a lot to work through about that," she said.
He shook his head. "Yeah, we do."

A/N: I truly wasn't expecting this second chapter to hold that much angst and emotions but these two, meaning the triangle for two in this verse is painful to think about, their separation and heartbreak, but I'll try to solve those issues, but it will take time. Come back next week and thanks for reading.
