Intruder Alert

Chapter Five

12 hours into the cruise for the Bellius with the crew in place. Captain Lee Crane was exhausted and needed to have dinner in his quarters instead of having it with the Command Staff.

Doctor Jeremy Winters had been concerned that Captain Crane had been pushing himself a great deal ever since he had gotten the communications that the Seaview and the crew had been missing for a week.

Walking in the widened corridors heading for the Officer's country quarters. He had a full update on the crew now as his team in sickbay were able to check everyone and only the four that he had mentioned about the chance of breaking down.

Reaching Crane's quarters as he knocks loud in case he was asleep. But instead, the door opens to see the Captain sitting at his desk going over files he had brought along with him from the Institue.

Crane looks up into the brown eyes of Doctor Jermey Winters wondering why he was here in the first place. "Why are you here Doctor?" he had been annoyed.

"I came personally to tell you that the crew is in top tip shape Captain besides the four mentioned earlier to you. Whatever they need to do with their duties onboard this new nuclear submarine they will be able to make you proud to a certain point." he triggered a nerve with Lee Crane.

Standing up from his desk angered. "What is that supposed to mean Doctor Winters?" he croaks out walking away from him for a moment to pour himself a drink since he was off duty. "Would you care for a drink Doctor?" he will pour himself a Whiskey, while he waited for the doctor's response.

"No thank you, I am still on duty and I have to check in with the next shift taking over. Have you heard from Admiral Nelson since leaving the Institute dock?" he had to ask.

"Nothing at all. There is a chance that he's monitoring the cruise in case something comes up. Even though Sparks sent me a report from one of the rescue vessels in the South Pacific near Saipan island. Sonar had advised the Commander of the rescue vessel that there was a chance that the Seaview and its crew might be caught in a bubble of sorts, or rather a cloaking device with an alien race might have abducted the crew." Lee will say even though he's been rather cautious of the report.

With the nod of his head to say the following..."Do you believe that report Captain Crane?" he barked back with his question.

Lee touches his beard needing to be shaved off along with a haircut. Otherwise, he put that thought to the side for now. "I really don't know until we search out for all of the options. Even Admiral Nelson probably believes in this since there is no wreckage of any kind in the region."

"I understand Captain, however, I wonder how many of this new crew believe in UFOs and other strange occurrences with their own eyes?" Doctor Winters came to his point as he moves away from Crane gulping down his drink quickly to head back to his work. "By the way Captain, I expect you to get some sleep before the next shift? Understand the order or else I will give you a shot to stay asleep." he was being serious with his altitude.

"I hear you, Doctor," he says having to be soulful with his response.

Captain Lee Crane will leave sickbay.

Meanwhile in the new engineering department. Patterson had been getting adjusted to the new machinery with his partner. Even though he had met her earlier with Sarah Goodman transferred in from Hawaii has not been happy with the situation. She had sent a request through SECNAV wishing to leave the Navy to join the Nelson Institute as an engineer.

They had been talking discussing one of the red lights on the board in front of them. "This can't be right Patterson? I had checked with the computer terminal and it tells me the heating system throughout the submarine is normal. Maybe there is faulty wiring?" she alluded with her suggestion.

"It's going to take some time with the wiring. I suggest that you contact Commander Danny Wills about it since he's in the Control room." Patterson paused watching the black-haired woman move over to the intercom when all of a sudden the Bellius has been knocked around with half of the crew on the floor.

Commander Wills had gotten up with help from the yeoman coming into the control room through the aft hatchway. "What happened?" he will say to the commander gathering himself as with the others.

This is when Captain Lee Crane from his own quarters had gotten onto the horn to find out what was going on. "Commander Wills, do you mind telling me why we were knocked about?" Crane will exhale with needing to get himself dressed as quickly as he can...

"Good question Captain. I have all of the departments to be checking into it as of right now. Even engineering had been calling at the time saying something about a raise in the heating system even though the computer terminal tells us the board is green." Commander Wills noted with his statement noticing the scared faces of his crew including the four with a background Doctor Winters had alluded to him earlier.

Meanwhile in Sickbay ...

They were lucky only to have a handful of injuries with bruising to their backs, legs, and arms with the falls. Otherwise, none of the 15 crew members had any broken legs with Doctor Winters and his team working to get everyone back to their work or quarters.

Doctor Winters had come to the sickbay to check in with Doctor Mathais transferred in from Orlando, Florida Naval base tired of all of the nonsense of the job at the base.

After talking with Doctor Mathais, he will be heading back to his quarters wondering if this had anything to do with the cruise and the tests of heading for the South Pacific, and the island of Saipan. Since Communications reports had been sent to all of the military bases in the region.

But first, he needed to stop off at engineering to check on the crew for where this all started with the fake alert with the heating system on the control panel.

Walking out with the lighting down low for the overnight shift.

When he arrived taking the next level down to engineering. When he walked inside only Patterson and Sarah Goodman working on the control panel finishing up her work with trying to find the cause.

"Is everything alright in here Patterson?" Doctor Winters had only met Patterson twice before.

Patterson raises his head for the moment as he was still confused as to what has been going on with the heating system and then to have everything falling to the floor with the submarine losing it's balance of sorts.

"It seems to be Doc. We have been checking everything to come up with nothing at all. The only thing I could think that it might have something to do with the disappearance of the Seaview?" he alluded with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Meaning Ghosts?" he barked back with his response.

"Exactly, Doctor Winters." Sarah Goodman will say to his question about ghosts.

"Whatever is the cause, we need to be on our toes when it comes to this cruise and the search for the missing crewmembers on the Seaview?" he scowled...
