have a good day! im omw to work rn lol
Natsu slowly stirred his pan of eggs, trying his best to focus on anything but the girl sitting behind him.
Lucy? He'd only ever known the one. But was it possible for her to actually be here? She was just a girl in a story his mom used to tell him. And even though he talked to her once in a while...well, maybe some part of him thought she was real. In the kind of way you don't really know what could be out there. Apparently, she was; trapped in the moon by her lonesome for who knew how long.
It took a while to calm her down, Natsu struggling to know what to do. He never really dealt with a crying girl before, save for the little girls in his classes. It was easy to cheer them up with a pat on the back, a smile, and swinging them around in the air for a quick second. His mom and Erza were both the type to get angry before getting upset, so he was more used to running away.
Lucy didn't want to let go of him, crying even more after she revealed her identity.
"Finally...I found you…"
He didn't want to rush her, waiting for Lucy to finish crying on her own. Staying relatively still and patting her back seemed to work just fine. Her sobs kept him from thinking about the fact her chest was practically against his; it wasn't hard to imagine how soft the rest of her body might be.
Natsu struggled to find a segway into getting her to talk more, the growl of her stomach thankfully giving him the opportunity.
"Why don't I make you something to eat? All this crying probably wasted your energy."
He led her into his living room and had her sit on the couch, Natsu wondering if Erza might've left something lying around that she could put on. She sniffled with a pout, reluctant to let go of the hand she held.
"I'll be right over there, don't worry. It'll be uncomfortable if you have to stand next to me the entire time I cook."
He wondered what would be the best course of action, where would he even start? Maybe asking why she was here should be first. Or maybe confirming her identity? It seemed a lot more plausible that she was from the moon rather than a girl who walked in off the street. Taking things one step at a time sounded like the best thing to do for now.
He turned around after plating their meal, carefully setting them down on the table before calling her over. He really got a look at her this time, watching the way she stood up to the gentle gait of her walk. She looked almost ethereal, the sunlight casting an aura around her curves. Every step swayed her hips, Natsu finding his breath almost shallow as she took a seat in the chair he pulled out for her.
"Thank you, Natsu, it looks delicious."
"A-Ah, yeah, no worries." He cleared his throat as he sat across from her; even the way she picked up a fork was elegant.
It was quiet for a few minutes while they ate, Lucy's sniffles filling the silence every so often. Natsu poured her a glass of water, making sure she had everything she needed before they finished up.
"Let's sit back down over here and talk, yeah? I feel like there's a lot to be explained." He motioned her back to the couch, Lucy eagerly grabbing his hand.
She was more than comfortable not giving him any breathing room, practically sitting in his lap. He cleared his throat as Lucy kept her hand firmly around his, his eyes wandering from her entranced gaze.
"Is something the matter, Natsu?" There was a slight drop of octave in her voice, Lucy leaning in as he refused to look at her. "...Aren't you happy to see me?"
"O-Of course I am," He shook his head, finding her discouraged eyes. "I'm sorry, I'm not upset, I just find it a bit…I feel rude looking at you in your, um, nightgown."
She stared blankly for a moment before looking down at herself, a pink blush dusting her cheeks.
"O-Oh, I didn't even think about…" Her throat tightened as she spoke, Natsu quickly standing up with her in tow.
His apartment was the closest to their place of work out of all his coworkers, so everyone ended up using his place to change on occasion. Giving her anything but his own shirts would definitely work.
"I probably have something you can put on, let's talk after you change," He said as he rifled through his closet. "A friend of mine leaves her clothes here sometimes."
Lucy waited patiently by the door frame, jumping slightly as Natsu let out a cheer.
"Here, a shirt and some shorts. They'll be comfy enough until I can get you something else to wear."
"Thank you…" Lucy said as he closed the door to give her privacy.
He let out a heavy sigh as he fell onto his couch, groaning when someone knocked on his front door.
"Fuck…" He clicked his tongue, rushing to peer through the peephole.
"Open up, loser! We brought snacks!" Gray pounded his fist on the door again, Gajeel standing nonchalantly behind him. They always got together on Saturday's to play video games, today being Natsu's day to host the gang.
"Guys, I can't—"
"Can't what? Don't chicken out just because I won our match last weekend," Gray rolled his eyes as he pushed past him. "Doubt you could even beat me today if you tried."
"You don't even have the console set up? You forget we were coming over?" Gajeel huffed as he planted himself on Natsu's couch, the pink-haired man quickly waving his arms around.
"Yes, I forgot, but seriously, this isn't the time! I need you both to leave, right now." He hissed, trying to keep his voice low. They both raised a brow at his actions, looking at one another before pursing their lips.
"What gives?" Gajeel asked first, raising a metal brow. "You gotta take a shit or somethin'?" Since when were you too busy on Saturdays?"
"Yeah, I thought you were bored as fuck using all this vacation time? You got somethin' else to do?" Gray dropped the bags he held, shrugging his shoulders toward Natsu who was pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I really can't explain, but I need you two to—"
"Natsu, I'm sorry, but I'm really not sure how I'm supposed to put…this…on…" Lucy said as she approached him from behind, her voice falling to a hush. She looked nervously at the two strangers staring at her with wide eyes, Natsu quickly turning around.
"I'll help you in a sec, okay? Let me talk to these guys," He whispered, ushering Lucy to return to his room. He felt their gazes on his back, the annoying feeling of embarrassment crawling up his neck.
"Dude…"
"No way…"
"Just get out!"
a little short but I don't mind :P
I should think of ending before I keep writing more, I kind of have one in mind, but I don't want to write without a clear direction, otherwise I'll create a lot of random plot that doesn't make sense
idk what imma end up updating next, midterms just ended! I have 3 summer classes and the fall semester -.- but then I'll have officially graduated! to no one's surprise, I'm a creative writing major!
