Intruder Alert
Chapter 25th
Admiral Harriman Nelson had been squirming in his seat while listening to Doctor Sterling continue to talk to him. "Look Doctor, I will need to be talking with Darien about this possible testing on the Seaview crew. What if they decide to start with the Bellius crew as well with having placed Commander Lee Crane in charge for this one cruise with Commander Danny Wills wasn't happy about it?" he says calmly the best he could.
"What did you expect him to say to you, Admiral Nelson that he didn't like the idea in the first place. This was his first Command and he didn't wish to screw it up until this cruise came up with the rescue mission to search for the Seaview and the crew to come up with a strange situation." he alluded...
"Look I plan on talking to Commander Danny Wills about it. I asked him to come to my office in a little while so that we can discuss the options." Admiral Nelson advised with his comment to the doctor satisfied.
"I guess that is the clue for me to leave now?" Doctor Sterling blurted out with the intercom as Angie was calling him.
"Hold on Doctor for a moment?" he said with his tone of voice. "Yes, Angie what is it?" he asked his long-time secretary the question even though she is supposed to be working with Commander Lee Crane when in fact he's on leave for now.
"Sir, Commander Wills is here to be speaking with you." she paused for the moment over the intercom.
"Have the Commander come inside the office while the good doctor is leaving now." he points out with his angered words.
"I know when I am not wanted Admiral Harriman Nelson!" he was being coy with the Admiral for now. "I will have all of the results tomorrow," he says quickly leaving his office.
While Commander Wills the shake his head to watch the good doctor leave heading back to the medical center.
He walked inside to be greeted by Admiral Harriman Nelson. He will be standing next to his desk waiting to be told to sit down.
Nelson looks up into the Commander's blue eyes. "Please be seated Commander," he tells him with a hint of a smile.
Commander Danny Wills was anxious to know what was with the Admiral's request. "Sir, I am here today not knowing just what is going on with the Nelson Institute. I have a date with my wife Anna wishing me to meet her at the Tennis Courts for a late brunch of sorts." he points out with his statement.
"This is not going to be taking all that long Captain Wills." he points out with the correct wording as he's been promoted by Admiral Nelson since with the first cruise, he was able to do a job well done with searching for the Seaview and with getting the suggestions from Chief petty officer Timmins, Patterson, and third class Sarah Goodman."
"Sir, what did you just tell me by calling me Captain when my rank is Commander of the Bellius?" he paused for the moment with complete surprise.
"Well, you're Captain Wills now with the recommendation by Commander Lee Crane stepping down from the Bellius to continue on with his position as CEO of the Nelson Institute. Once the matter is over with Darien and the Cajuns, I will be sending the Bellius out for their next cruise as with the Seaview. This has been a very upsetting adventure for everyone at this time." Nelson tells him this fact.
"Thank you, Admiral Nelson, I do hope to prove to you that I am able to do the job totally?" he ironically says to the Admiral shaking his head with asking the Captain whether he wants a drink.
"Please, I like that sir with a Scotch on the rocks," he responded with Admiral Nelson getting up to head on over to the portable bar that he keeps in his office.
Nelson takes a few moments to make the two drinks for himself and Admiral Nelson. "Captain, I know there are going to be a few of the personnel of the Bellius that might not like the idea that I have decided to promote you to Captain. Even though Commander Lee Crane was very popular with many of them from serving with Lee for a long time until he decided to take over for the Institute." he hesitated for the moment with bringing over the drinks. "Here you go, Captain." he hands it into his hand.
"Thanks, I need this sir. Before I leave do you happen to have an updated personnel list since we were short crewmembers on the cruise?" he takes a sip of his Scotch to have a great taste to it for his libido.
"Matter of fact Captain I have that list since the Seaview is still in dry dock for a little while longer." He places on his bifocals to search for the complete list with 252 personnel to be on the Bellius with many of the communications, engineering, and missile rooms that had been filled. He picks it off the desk in a pile underneath other listings for the Seaview and another in the works project. "Here's the complete list with 25 of that personnel will be women in key positions," he said personally with his comment about the ladies.
"Just as long as they are able to do their jobs during a crisis? I don't need anyone folding on the job?" he posed the question.
"Don't worry Captain, they will be there when it begins to get rough!" Nelson exhales sipping his Whiskey burning in his throat and stomach. "Now take the list with you since I have copies to have any changes that might be made Captain?" he says with a strength of his demeanor.
Walking out of Admiral Nelson's office...
Captain Danny Wills called his wife Suzanne working at the Communications switchboard of the Institute as she was going to be getting off duty in a few moments as she was waiting for the replacement.
Suzanne and Danny Wills had been married for the past three years meeting each other at the gun range of the Institute. She was there with her friends before she noticed the blue eye Commander.
He called her at the switchboard asking how long before her replacement arrived. "Danny, she has just arrived now. Where do you want to meet each other?" she had to ask needing to keep her voice down low.
"Suzanne meet me at the swings. I have some wonderful news to tell you." he exhales with the news of telling her where to meet.
"Sure thing Danny, I will be leaving in a few moments," she tells him after hanging up the phone to give last-minute instructions to her replacement to take over the switchboard with three others.
