Intruder Alert
Chapter 28th
It was in the middle of the afternoon having to be in the high eighties with very little humidity. Sarah Goodman had woken to find herself alone in bed. There was a note written by Patterson that he was asked by Admiral Nelson to come to the Institute for a special briefly involving the Cajuns.
She turned over on her side feeling alone as to why Patterson was asked by Nelson when he's supposed to be on leave for the next week. She had gotten up from the edge of the bed to get herself dressed to find out what is going on.
She will shower first after the night she had with Patterson. Though their relationship was starting out slow for the moment. However, she wasn't going to push Patterson into anything at all.
Last night he had talked about his father even though dead now a long time. He mostly told her that the man responsible as well for his father's death is dead as well due to his own greed.
Meanwhile, Patterson, Kowalski, Commander Lee Crane, Sharkey, and a few others had been summons to Admiral Nelson's office, plus his top security officer Commander Daniel Martins to have the details of the first meeting in 36 hours involving the Cajuns and the Alliance.
Chairs had been placed into the office with Angie to direct everyone into the office grumbling under their breaths, especially Chief Sharkey.
Admiral Nelson walked in with the details of the meeting to be held inside the conference room on the third floor one of the biggest.
"Alright, I see that everyone is here. I am here to tell you that I have been in contact with Lauren of the Cajun race and Darien. He had agreed to the location of having the first meeting with them in 36 hours. I will need Commander Martins for you and your security officers to set up the security to be so tight around the entire Institute and inside the main building." he alluded...
"Sir, how will Darien and this Lauren be able to arrive at the landing site?" Commander Lee Crane with his legs crossed will ask the question.
"By using the beaming process to enter into the conference room. This is when security will take over in protecting the both of them." Nelson pleaded to say.
"I know sir this may be a strange question to be asking at this particular time Admiral? In what form will Darien is going to be in when he beams down for the first meeting?" Chief Sharkey just had to say with groans in Nelson's office.
"He's going to be in his normal alien self since he needs to be this way so not to start with any type of lies gentlemen. Darien knows how important this is supposed to be with the new Alliance member." Nelson said calmly.
"Admiral Nelson, I will be sure to make sure all security issues will be put into place." Commander Daniel Martins was advised as the security chief in charge of the Institute.
Coughing slightly with a dry throat once again. "Just be sure that you do, Commander since we can't afford any more deaths in the process?" Nelson barked back to the group.
"Of course, Admiral Nelson." Commander Martins said staying silent for the rest of the briefing.
Commander Lee Crane will make the following comment. "We already have 21 of the Seaview in the morgue with the medical examiners doing autopsies on them and the families want answers as to why Sir?" he croaks out with his response and his face showing the emotion.
In a deep sorrow with his demeanor Nelson needed to have said..."I know Lee. Anyway everyone needs to be ready for the meeting with Lauren and Darien here at the conference room and security detachment. That's it for now. Thank you for coming all of you." he pointed out with the briefing was breaking up.
He saw Patterson getting ready to leave. "Patterson, can I speak with you for a few minutes?" Admiral Nelson asked Patterson wondering what is on the Admiral's mind as Crane and the others leave the conference room to continue with their day.
"Sir, what can I do for you?" Patterson asked with concern etched on his face.
"Listen I know this is a long shot. When you and Third Class Sarah Goodman were able to figure out the power consumption with the cloaking device I need for you to ask her to help later for a few hours to check for anything that might interfere with the beaming of Lauren and Darien from his spacecraft?" Nelson asked needing to find out for sure about any type of trouble.
"Actually I will ask Sarah later at her apartment and see what she has to say on the subject. She is a smart woman when it comes to electronics and engineering issues. I will let you know what we decide to be done by setting up some form of an energy field to stop anything that might get in the way of the two of them from beaming into the conference field.
INSTITUTE APARTMENT COMPLEX
Patterson had walked into the living room of Goodman's apartment. She had been advised of the situation after she had spoken with Patterson on the phone. She had been working on the issue at hand as she had several programs on the computer in order to give her the engineering and energy field levels.
She was wearing blue shorts with her legs crossed on the brown long couch as she looks up to see Patterson etched with a strange expression on his face.
"What do you have for Admiral Nelson, Sarah?" his face low key for the moment as he bends down to kiss her on the cheek for the moment.
"I am waiting for the computer analysis to come up with the answer in a few moments Pat. It's going to interesting on just how much of the power levels needs to be used for when it comes to the cloaking device to protect Darien and Lauren from anyone to be trying to stop the meeting and with joining the Alliance." she alluded with her comment.
With the shake of his head. Patterson says the following. "We all know for the fact Sarah that it's maybe one of the rebels that Lauren had advised the briefing to join the Alliance?" he posed the question...
"I think so Patterson," she responded when all of the sudden her computer beeped with the answer on the screen. She brought up the information further on the terminal as it showed the amount of energy will be needed for the cloaking device." "Take a look Patterson, Admiral Nelson needs to be shown this information?" she tells him with a hint of a smile.
"Well in that case let's get packed up with the computer terminal to bring it to his office. I really don't know on whether he will be pleased?" Patterson noted with his chest racing with the excitement.
