Chapter 3

Olivia drove home deep in thought about Quinn, Kyle, and Amanda. She got to her door. "Hey, I didn't get one sexy text today." Olivia smiled, but the truth was she hadn't thought about David once today.

He smiled as he held up Chinese food. His tall stature and cool teenage looking brown hair without any style were a few of his hot qualities, but his sparkling blue eyes captivated her, but his eyes only reminded her of Amanda. "So what's up? You know your face gives you away right?"

Olivia laughed, Quinn told her the same thing. "I had a busy day." Olivia didn't know why this felt so weird. Her and David weren't together they were just fucking plan and simple. "Elliot turned in his papers." Olivia frowned saying it again.

David chewed his food and watched Olivia push hers around on the plate. He knew this would set her off, but he told the truth. "I know. I'm sorry Liv."

Olivia dropped her fork, "You know?" She scoffed, "Before or after me?" Olivia didn't bite her tongue, she didn't have to with David, it was one of the things she liked the most, but they also didn't argue or fight.

David sighed, "I couldn't tell you, before your Captain. It wasn't my place." Olivia stood up and walked in her bedroom. "Unfucking believable!" David followed her as she stripped out of her clothes and got in the shower. He heard her crying and took off his clothes. Her voice was small and it was never small. "I'm not mad at you, I'm just hurt okay?" Olivia turned to face him, "I kissed Amanda today."

David smiled and laughed, "The blonde? I'm losing to a blonde? Unfucking believable." They both laughed. It's what they did. Everything was light with them. They knew where they stood and as long as he was an ADA and she was a detective, it didn't work.

Olivia didn't kiss him, she didn't want to. She reached down his muscular body and grabbed his length stroking it, "Fuck me!" David turned her around and placed her hands on the bench. He reached between the front of her legs and circled her clit as he pushed all the way inside her. Olivia's back arched up and David grabbed a handful of her wet brown hair. He tugged on it while he pounded inside her. Olivia liked it, she liked him, but it wasn't love. They both knew it.

David grabbed her waist as she tightened around his hard length. "Ahhhh Fuck!" They both came hard and David cradled her as her body came back down. Her wet brown hair stuck to her back as she stayed bent over. They showered, dried off, and David got dressed. This is what they did. "Hey, do you have any aspirin?"

Olivia laughed, "Umm yeah in the medicine cabinet. Usually I relieve your headaches. Am I losing you?"

David pulled her close, "I hurt my knee running this morning, but you kissed a blonde today. Maybe I'm losing you." David winked at her and looked in the cabinet. He grabbed two and took a swig of water. He looked at a package full of pills, grabbed it, and walked out. "Liv, have you been forgetting something?"

Olivia looked at his hand and walked over to see her birth control pills, "Spying on me?" She smiled, those are my old ones, they were messing with my stomach so I switched."

Olivia explained she had been throwing up and she went to her doctor and her pregnancy test was negative. "Wait, you took a pregnancy test?"

Olivia sighed, "Yeah, it's normal before they prescribe anything." Olivia watched him carefully. She loved watching him think, it made him look sexy.

David shook his head, "How do you feel now? Liv, we fuck all of the time and we don't use anything." Olivia said she was fine and well aware. She wanted him to stay, but she didn't even ask. She fell asleep and didn't wake up until her alarm went off.

After she had breakfast, she looked at the old pill packet and her new packet. She didn't see it until now, she missed some days. The problem was her and David fucked everyday, sometimes more then once. She stopped by the drugstore before going to work. She stepped off of the elevator and when she saw Fin she pushed the bag into her desk. She watched Amanda walk in late as usual. She wore sunglasses to cover her tired eyes. Olivia wondered what was going on with her. They didn't speak.

Cragen walked out, "Rollins, you're slipping. We have a new member coming to join the team. He should be her later. His name is Nick Amaro. He's good, but needs to learn the SVU ropes." Olivia thought great, two newbies, but she kept that to herself. "Fin take Rollins with you, on this call. Munch a word please."

Olivia looked up and started paperwork. Once everyone was gone, Olivia went into the bathroom. She wasn't too nervous, the doctor told her she wasn't pregnant, but with the missing pills she needed to be sure. She peed on the stick and waited. She was more than shocked seeing two lines appear. "Fuck!" She knocked on the Captain's door and said she wasn't feeling well.

She headed to the doctor immediately. Apparently she was pregnant and her previous test missed it. "I'm in my forties, is this safe?" Olivia gave up on kids. The job never allowed the time and she never found the right guy. Just last year, she became a foster mom to Calvin Arliss. It didn't work out and she was crushed when his biological mother snatched the custody away. It was actually something that pushed her and Elliot apart. Once she explained what she did for a living, it was always a block for her partner. Her doctor explained she wasn't that old plus she was healthy and the baby was fine. People older than her had kids.

She left the office and sent a text, but it wasn't sexy. "I need to see you now!" She didn't beat around the bush with David, she didn't have to. She went to his apartment to meet him. When he saw her face he knew something was wrong. "I'm sorry. You know I didn't do it on purpose."

David sighed. He knew that already. "Liv, I know that. What do you want to do?" Olivia frowned looking at him hoping he wasn't asking about getting rid of it. "I don't mean that, I mean us. Do I need to come clean? Do you want me in your life, the baby's life? I mean it's a valid question right?"

Olivia nodded. "I like what we have, but it's free and fun and not complicated. I never thought about changing that. Does that disappoint you?"

David agreed, "If you need me, I'm here. If you don't mind, I would like to be a father." Olivia went to leave and David stopped her. He had something big to discuss, bigger than a baby. "Hey, since we're done fucking, was that kiss with the blonde something? Do you like her?" Her face showed it all, it always did. "Hmmm, it is huh. Do you think Amanda is a good cop?"

Olivia turned, she didn't answer the other question but she answered that one. "Yeah, I mean she did great on her first case, but something is up with her. She's young, so who knows. The bomb I just dropped on you, why would you ask me that?" David showed her photos of Amanda in an underground gambling club, sitting at a table with at least 3 shot glasses and chips.

David saw it come across his desk when the undercover cop pulled her license. "This club is illegal and you know her sitting there is a mistake. If you want I can make these go away, but she better stay clean."

Olivia looked at the pictures, Amanda looked scared. She asked David to handle it and promised to get her straight. "Can I take these?" David nodded and reminded her he was there if she needed anything.

She headed home, but sent Amanda a text. "I need to speak to you, can you come to my place?" Her phone went off, "Sure, I'm leaving the squad now. Do you need anything? Cap said you didn't feel well." Olivia was still full from her Philly cheesesteak she ate driving home and wasn't ready to tell anyone she was pregnant. She sent the address, "I'm good. See you soon."

Olivia went in and changed into some joggers and a T-shirt. She looked at her stomach and wondered how much time she had. She called Pippa while she waited and was told Kyle and Quinn were doing okay, but Quinn was a handful. When she heard the knock and she opened the door. Amanda looked like a scared kid in trouble and Olivia thought she should have been scared. Amanda was putting her career on the line and for what? It didn't make sense.

Olivia knew something about putting her career on the line, she did it before when it came to learning about her brother Simon. "Come in." Olivia's tone was serious, she needed to pick a direction with Amanda, she went tough love. "Sit! Now!"

Amanda was caught a little off guard, "Did I do something wrong?" Olivia didn't say a word, instead she put the pictures down on the table in front of her. Amanda shook her head. She wondered how she got them. Then she felt stupid for even being there to get caught. "How did you get these?"

Olivia didn't answer, instead she lectured. "Do you know what can happen if these get to someone else. Your career is done, is that what you want?"

Amanda shook her head embarrassed. "I don't know why I did it. I don't have a reason. How much trouble am I in?"

Olivia put her mind at ease, "None, if you never do again. You better come clean now, is this a problem? The gambling?" Amanda shook her head. She said it was dumb mistake and she was lonely. She told Olivia about going to bars. "That's why you're late all the time in the morning?" Amanda nodded. "You're a mess." Olivia laughed, "It's ok I was a mess at your age too. I saved you this time, but this is it. Pull it together."

Amanda didn't say much other than she would. Olivia walked her to the door, "Amanda, I'm sorry about the kiss. I was going off emotions I guess. Look, this city will eat you alive if you let it, don't let it. You don't need bars or gambling clubs. If you can't sleep or feel lonely, call me, spend the night. I'm here and I'll be your friend."

Amanda smiled, "Thanks Olivia." Amanda heard friend and thought about the kiss. Amanda liked it, but was scared to say anything. "You missed meeting Nick today. He seems cool." She headed out of the door.

Olivia pulled her back and hugged her tight. For the first time in a long time Amanda felt safe. She ran from Atlanta, but she wasn't ready to tell Olivia why. They took a step forward in friendship, but they both held a secret, "Amanda, my friends call me Liv."
