Chapter 4

Amanda got to work early and everyone noticed the change. Olivia had a spring in her step too. It finally hit her that she was going to be a mom. She would have a chance to change her family way. It made her happy. She greeted Nick Amaro and Cragen smiled at the exchange. He was happy that the news of Elliot didn't pull her down.

Nick and Fin were sent to deal with Stevie Harris. When he was busted on being drunk in public, he claimed to have been raped by the famous Coach Ray Masters. They went to the hospital, but he ran. Nick had an idea where to find him and they brought him in to talk.

Cragen, Munch, Olivia, and Amanda watched as Nick and Fin talked to Stevie. "You think it was just me. How many kids has he coached? Shit man, my roommate got it worse than me."

Olivia who was shoulder to shoulder with Amanda and felt her tense up. Fin shrugged, "Give us a name Stevie." Stevie laughed claiming he was too big of a name and he wouldn't talk.

Fin held his hands up. "Prince Miller man." Olivia and Amanda were teamed up to go talk to Prince Miller, the superstar basketball player.

Olivia smiled, "Wanna drive?" Amanda laughed, but also looked terrified. New York City driving was crazy compared to Atlanta. "I'm only kidding, but you've gotta learn sometime."

Fin and Nick continued getting information from Stevie while Cragen and Munch dug into the coach's past. Cragen saw Pippa walk in. "Ms. Cox, what can I do for you?" She wanted to see Olivia. "She's out on a call. Can I help?"

Pippa didn't really know much about Olivia's family. "This may be a strange question, but is it possible that Olivia has siblings she doesn't know about?" Cragen froze because it was more than possible with her father.

Munch looked up also knowing about him. He learned the hard way to keep his mouth closed. When she was a young detective he made a comment about her marking an unknown father on a paper. Elliot told him then that Olivia's mother was raped by the unknown man. "Munch, give us a minute." Munch smiled and closed the door as he left.

Cragen sighed, "From what I know it's very possible. She has a half brother from her father's side, so it's possible she has others. Why are you asking? She's my detective and her family is a sensitive matter." It wasn't Cragen's place to tell Pippa about him or the rape.

Pippa handed him the file as she spoke. "Quinn Anderson. She spoke of her mom dating a man named Joe." It hit Cragen like a ton of bricks as she spoke, Joe wasn't just Joe, he looked down at the paper. "We swabbed her, hoping to find her family. We got 3 hits, Joseph Hollister now deceased, Simon Marsden, and Olivia Benson. Quinn Anderson is Olivia's half sister."

Cragen looked at the file, it all fit. Olivia secretly ran her DNA to find Simon. When she did find him, he was in trouble. Olivia put her badge on the line for him. Luckily he was being framed and her detective skills saved him and her job. Cragen thought this was the last thing she needed. "I can't believe this, but numbers don't lie."

He motioned for Pippa to sit. Pippa explained she phoned Simon Marsden and left a message. "Captain Cragen, do you think Simon or Olivia would be willing to take Quinn?"

Cragen knew Simon hadn't had any contact with Olivia since the trouble. He felt bad she had to put her job on the line and figured their father had ruined her life enough. "I don't think Simon is a good fit." He thought about Olivia and how much family meant, he knew she would never turn her back on Quinn. She was a kid and she needed help. "Olivia has this job, but she won't let Quinn stay in foster care. But I also think she has to be the one to say it."

He picked up the phone and asked how far away they were. Amanda told them they were on the way back and explained Prince Miller was a piece of work with a very protective team. "We're headed back now Cap."

Cragen pulled the team together while Pippa waited in his office. They went over the case some more and he sent Munch and Nick to talk to the coach. "Amanda, start doing some online search on Miller and other top names he coached. Let Fin know what you find."

Fin and Olivia were shocked that they were left without an assignment on this big case, but before they could question it, he gave directions. "Olivia, Ms. Cox is here to see you." Olivia went right away, thinking it was about the case with Quinn, she didn't even ask. "Fin, heads up." Cragen told him everything. "I'm telling you this, because she's going to need you. Will you help Amanda walk through everything until we're done?"

Fin let it sink in, "Of course Captain, whatever you need." He went to sit across from Amanda who had been watching them talk. She knew it was serious, "Is everything okay?" Fin sighed, but nodded as he watched Cragen close the door. He was happy he forgot the blinds, so that he could see the reaction.

Olivia sat opposite of Pippa, "What's wrong? Is Quinn okay?" Pippa smiled, because it was a good sign she cared so much without knowing they were family.

"Olivia there's no easy way to say this, but Quinn Anderson is your half sister." She watched Olivia's face look at her with confusion. She handed her the file and explained the test results. Olivia was too shocked to speak, she just listened and stared at the paper. "I called Simon." Olivia finally looked up, because she hadn't heard from him in years. "I left a message, but didn't reach him."

Olivia looked at the paper again and smiled thinking of Quinn. "Does she know?" Pippa explained she hadn't told her anything, because she wanted to speak to them first. "Can I see her and tell her? I want her with me. Simon is welcome in her life, but he shouldn't have her." Pippa had already heard that from Cragen, so she hoped this wouldn't turn into a tug of war. Olivia spoke again, "Wait, what about Kyle? If I take her, I need to help him too." Olivia couldn't imagine tearing them apart. She also had the class since she had custody of Calvin just last year.

Pippa would have to check on that, but made a note. "I will arrange to have Quinn and Kyle brought to my office after school. You can meet us there and we'll all talk together." Pippa said goodbye and went to work.

Cragen smiled, "I knew you would do that. It's what's right. I know that. You know Olivia, I expect that when the time comes, you will be my replacement and you having a family or life doesn't change that. You deserve happiness too."

Olivia listened to him, but she wasn't sure about being his replacement anymore. Things were changing quickly. She was asking to take a 7 year old and 17 year old, plus she was about to drop a very big bomb. "Captain, I'm pregnant."

He sat back and rocked in his chair as she told the entire truth about David Haden. "Before the shooting, we went to that seminar. We flirted and after the shooting, let's just say my emotions took over. I'm due in May, so I'm going from 0 to 3 kids."

She looked at him expecting disappointment, but he only offered support. "If this is what you want, I'll support you. I missed my chance to have a family, so if I had advice to give, I'd tell you don't miss yours." Olivia smiled as she walked out.

Cragen told her that he told Fin, so he was happy to see her smiling. Amanda looked nervous and Olivia gathered Fin didn't tell her. He was more than shocked as she came over and included Amanda in the good news about Quinn and the baby. Amanda smiled and offered to babysit anytime. Olivia laughed, "You better, because we're friends."

Amanda was happy for Olivia. She hid the fact that she was disappointed in hearing she was pregnant. It wasn't the baby, but the baby had a father and Olivia kept putting the emphasis on friends. She was surprised she told her so much personal information the same time as Fin, that meant a lot.

Fin watched the exchange and couldn't wait to get Olivia alone. He had time when Fin went to Pippa's office with her. "Liv, what was that about? You and Amanda are friends? Just last week you were giving her a hard time." Olivia smiled. Fin shook his head, "You know you have her by like 15 years right? Shit Liv, I didn't even know you went that way."

Olivia rolled her eyes, "We're not doing this right now. She's a kid, I will already have 3, and I don't know what's going on." They laughed and talked the entire way. Olivia had to tell him about David and he was shocked. "It was just sex."

Fin smiled and didn't judge her, "It's good to see you happy. I haven't seen it in a while." He thought she had a glow. He also was going to watch her carefully to see how she balanced it. "You know I went on a date myself last week." Fin told her about his old partner Phoebe. "We'll see how it goes. It was nice reconnecting though."

They walked into the building and hit the elevator button. "Olivia!" They both turned around when they heard her name. Olivia's happy mood sank when she saw Simon running up.

Fin tensed up thinking he was an asshole for leaving and not even returning her calls. "I got you Liv." Olivia just waved him off and waited to greet her estranged brother.
