Chapter 8
Months passed and Olivia was ready to have her baby boy. They had the shower weeks ago, Amanda handled everything like a best friend should. They were still just friends.
Olivia laid it out in December. She told Amanda exactly what needed to happen to move out of the friend zone. Now it was May and Amanda decided not to come clean yet. Not even when a case broke months ago and her cover was blown as a gambler. Olivia had to stand in Cragen's office while he read her the riot act. It hurt her, but she was Amanda's superior in that form.
Olivia didn't have the reaction as Cragen did and he flat out asked if she knew. She told the truth and even came clean about Amanda moving in with her completely giving up her apartment. She explained they were only friends and she would notify him if it changed.
Amanda wasn't a bad or dirty cop, he knew that, but he didn't like being in the dark. A dark cloud was over her having her baby. Fin's family was hit hard when his son's fiancé Alejandro was attacked for being gay. He was healing and doing better, but Fin had been out of work to support his son.
Olivia grabbed her stomach and Amanda noticed. "You've been doing that a lot today. Are you okay?"
Olivia nodded, she wasn't due until next week, but other than the kicking she felt fine. "I'm good, maybe Noah can't wait to meet us." She smiled, Tracy and Simon welcomed Olivia Renee Marsden a month earlier.
Amanda felt her belly and he kicked, "Noah Haden Benson, you have another week." Nick and Cragen were both ready to leave after wrapping up the case from the private school rape.
Olivia grabbed her stomach again, this time in pain, "Damn!" They all watched Olivia stand up, "My water broke." Olivia delivered a healthy baby boy. Quinn sat on her hospital bed and cuddled with both of them. She needed lots of attention lately. Quinn had a jealous streak in her. Simon, Tracy, and Ty introduced baby Olivia to her cousin.
Kyle smiled holding Lucy's hand. "Mom, he just wanted to see Luce and I go to prom next week. He's already nosier than Quinn!" Everyone laughed while Quinn frowned. Olivia kissed the top of her head and rubbed her back. When Kyle turned 18 in February a few days after Olivia's birthday they gave him a gift, his name was Benson now just like Quinn. Lucy gave him a kiss, only after asking Olivia and Simon for permission.
David came and held his son. Amanda fell back when he showed up, but a wink from Olivia helped her feel like she forever had a place. She whispered in Quinn's ear and watched Quinn walk over and pull Amanda to the bed to sit. David smiled, "Amanda, make sure you help her with my son." Amanda promised.
Amanda came home and stood at the door while Olivia rocked Noah and talked to him. Things had settled down over the last 4 weeks. "You're going to be cleared and ready for Kyle's graduation just in time. He's excited, you did all of this Liv." Olivia shook her head, because everyone did it together. "Where is everyone anyway?"
Olivia stood up and put Noah down in the crib and turned on his camera. "They went to have dinner with Meredith. She wanted to give Kyle his graduation gift. I gave him an invitation to the graduation and party for her, but I left it up to him."
Kyle went, but he still hadn't forgiven her. Quinn didn't want to live with her anymore, but she loved seeing her. They walked to the bedroom, "How's the case going?" Olivia had been at home and would have to remain there for at least two more weeks. She was going back as early as possible, she wasn't worried she had Lucy.
Amanda was updating her though. "Cassidy is in deep Liv, something's not right." They had been stuck on the same case from when an escort was found dead. They had some high priced officials involved and Cragen was very concerned. "I'm going to take a shower."
A few minutes later, Amanda peeked out of the bathroom realizing her phone was almost dead and in her pocket, "Hey, will you charge this?" Amanda threw it and Olivia caught a look at her bare thigh. Olivia didn't want to push her, but she wanted Amanda so badly.
She got up and grabbed the charger and her phone rang. It said APD. "Atlanta?" Olivia shrugged, "Hello?"
She heard a male voice, "Your sister's in trouble again. Is your pussy going to bail her out?" Olivia was shocked, but before she could say something, Amanda came out.
Amanda saw Olivia holding the phone. She hit the mute button. "It said APD so I answered it. I don't know who it is." Olivia lied, because she couldn't explain what the man on the other end said.
Amanda looked scared, she knew she couldn't overreact. "Hello." Olivia could hear the man yell, "Your ears don't fucking work. Your sister is in trouble. Wanna bail her out?" Olivia heard an evil laugh. Amanda turned away from Olivia. "Captain Reynolds, don't call me."
Olivia watched Amanda hang up the phone. She put it on the charger and wouldn't face Olivia. "Amanda, is everything okay?" Amanda didn't move, it was like she was frozen. Olivia walked to the other side of the bed where she stood. "I'm going to touch you okay?"
Olivia got used to this, sometimes after her nightmares, she would need to be held, but Olivia always asked. She wrapped her arms around her shoulders. The picture was clearer now, Olivia had been an SVU detective for a very long time and hearing what she just heard was almost like her final proof. She just needed Amanda to say it. Amanda closed her eyes, she wanted to tell. She felt so protected in her arms. "Liv, something happened to me. I never want to go back to Atlanta. They hur…"
Amanda jumped hearing a phone ring. They both looked down, but it was Olivia's, not hers. She saw Cragen's name. She answered in frustration because she knew Amanda was about to finally talk. "Benson!"
She heard her Captain's shaky voice, which was odd, "Liv, I need your help." Amanda watched her face change to something she had never seen from Olivia Benson, fear. Her voice was shaking as she responded that her and Amanda were on the way. She called David, thank goodness he didn't live far. He came and watched Noah. She only explained to Amanda that he was in trouble and called Fin and Nick immediately. When they reached his apartment he opened the door, covered in blood.
The dead hooker that had been secretly helping with the case of the escorts, laid dead in his bed with her throat slit. "Amanda, move back!" Olivia knew they were stepping in a crime scene.
Olivia did everything right, but Cragen was in jail. It broke her heart seeing him in that orange jumpsuit. He was being set up and everyone knew it. Brain Cassidy went to see Olivia and only confirmed everyone's suspicions. They worked for a month trying to clear his name.
Olivia was back and trying to balance her personal and professional life, it was hard. She almost missed Kyle's graduation, but Cragen was free. It was all a setup. They saved his life and his career. "It's good to have back, Captain." Cragen smiled and thanked the team, but Olivia knew he wasn't the same. She wouldn't have been either.
Olivia looked at the squad. She made a big name for herself in Cragen's absence, but she was glad to be a Sergeant again. Being in charge cost her time with the family. Amanda was already gone, she went home to relieve Lucy. Kyle had a baseball game and she wanted to watch him play.
Olivia walked into the condo and it was quiet. Amanda was in bed with Noah and Quinn. Quinn jumped up, "Mommy!" Quinn was always happy to see her. She loved her so much, more than just sisters. Even though Quinn was young, she understood Olivia stepped in and completely changed her path.
Quinn explained how she was such a big help. She had been trying to get out of summer camp daycare. Olivia wasn't having it though, Lucy didn't need Quinn and Noah all day long. Amanda got up and gave her Noah. "Is Cap all settled in?"
Olivia nodded and explained he was still not himself. "Hey, can you put these two to bed, while I take a shower?"
Amanda grabbed Noah and Quinn was happy to help. "Manda, can you read us a bedtime story?" Olivia knew that would keep her long enough to take her time.
Olivia showered, she welcomed the warm waterfall. Cragen's problems had pushed Amanda's to the back burner, but she didn't forget. She walked out and saw Amanda looking at her phone. "How was the story?"
Amanda shrugged, "It didn't take long, she's tired." Amanda scrolled down the long message. Olivia didn't stare, that wasn't a part of their relationship. She went around to her side and climbed in bed.
When Amanda just sat there, Olivia asked, "Are you okay?" Amanda sighed and handed her the phone. She couldn't say what was wrong. Olivia checked with her, "You want me to read it?" Amanda nodded. Olivia looked, it was from her mother.
Olivia read the text. "Amanda Grace Rollins! What the fuck is wrong with you? You left your sister in that damn hell hole, because you were afraid to spread your legs. She's your sister for crying out loud. What kind of sister would do that? And don't even start with that they raped me last time because of her, she's your baby sister and you're a piece of shit for not helping. We aren't family. I don't know you."
Olivia looked up, she was in shock, but didn't show it. Deep down she knew something wasn't right. She made a decision not to push her. She didn't think it would help. Instead of asking she pulled her close and held her.
Amanda felt safe with her, she always did.It wasn't about sex or the friend zone, it was time. "Liv, they raped me."
