Chapter 11

Olivia looked at the date they would return for the procedure. David did his part easily. The procedure had to be done the day of ovulation. Then they would know in a couple weeks if it took or not. "Are you excited?" Amanda nodded. "Do you want to tell the kids?"

Amanda shook her head, "Not until I know." When they opened the door, they saw David with Noah again. Olivia thought it was strange, David was coming around a lot. He was acting differently. She made a mental note to call him and not discuss it with everyone.

He wasn't the only one acting differently, Kyle had been distant. They were all having dinner and Kyle was late. Columbia wasn't far and he promised Olivia he would have weekly dinner. She made him promise to Quinn, but she missed him too. He walked in and didn't speak, not even to Lucy. "Hello?" Quinn looked at Olivia, she knew that tone, he was in trouble.

Kyle rolled his eyes. He put food on his plate and started eating without answering her. Instead he looked at David, "What's he doing here?"

Olivia stopped the attitude immediately, "He's family and your brother's father. You need to apologize. Now!" Kyle pushed his plate away and walked off. She looked at Lucy first, but she only saw shock. David waved his hand, he knew this wasn't about him.

Olivia found him in his old room sitting on the bed with his hands on his head. His dirty blonde hair had grown so long. It was hanging over his large hands. He was crying and it broke her heart. She leaned on the dresser and waited for him to let it out. "Kyle, I know you're upset and I've given you space and time, but that time is up. I want you to talk to someone. You've had so much thrown at you from an early age, so I get it."

Kyle finally looked at her. "But I'm your 2nd mom and I would be wrong if I didn't correct you. You can't push us away, you can't treat us badly just because you're hurting. We are the ones here to help you."

She didn't know what his reaction would be. He stood up. He was so tall. It was like he got taller when he left. "You're my mom and Amanda. Simon is my dad. I'm sorry for how I acted out there. David is a good guy and Noah's lucky. I'll apologize the right way."

He hugged her and cried some more. He never let go. She saw Amanda at the door. She stepped in and closed it, so Quinn couldn't hear. "I don't miss her. I don't care that she's gone. She was a selfish bitch. I think she did it just to cause more pain. That's crazy right, that I hate them. I don't want to be like them. Maybe something is wrong with me. Who hates their parents?"

He still didn't let go, but Olivia pulled away and cradled his face in her hands. She knew it was eating him up inside. She got it, because her mom was hard to love. Sometimes she did and sometimes she didn't. Life was easier with her gone and her father, gosh she hated him the most. She looked at Amanda and she knew she got him too.

She reached out her hand to pull Amanda beside her. "Look at us. If any two people get how you're feeling we do. You're not crazy and maybe we can all go to therapy." She gave Amanda the look and began with her own story. She told Kyle about the real Joseph Hollister and how he turned her mother into a monster. It gave Amanda enough guts to tell him about her parents and family.

Amanda hugged him. "We get it Kyle, more than you know. Are you ready to go back and face everyone?"

Kyle hung his head, "Mom? Mama? I was awful to Lucy last week." He told them that he came over and was making out with her and she was scared to have sex. "I told her she was older than me and called her a tease. I told her I would find someone else to fuck."

Olivia and Amanda noticed Lucy's behavior and they knew it was Kyle but she wouldn't tell them. Amanda sighed, "You know you messed up. Apologize and mean it." OIivia tilted his chin to face her, "And never treat her like that again. Oh and you need a haircut." Kyle pushed his hair back and laughed.

Kyle walked out and picked up Quinn and tickled her, "Hey troublemaker!" He shook David's hand, "I'm so sorry. Thanks for being the greatest dad to my brother. Please forgive me?"

David hugged him, "Thanks for being a great model of man for my son. I'm going to need you around." Olivia heard, she really heard what he said. She watched him the rest of dinner.

Kyle sighed as he approached Lucy in the kitchen, "Can we take a walk?" Lucy smiled and agreed. She knew he was hurting, but he hurt her too.

Amanda stopped her, "Don't go easy on him." Then she winked at her and him.

Olivia handed Quinn one plate at a time. "Rinse and load that dish washer to help Lucy." Quinn was excited to help.

Olivia looked at David, "What's going on? All the coming over, dropping hints like something's different and you won't be around. What's wrong David?" David knew he had to come clean, they deserved that much. He passed them a copy of his will and explained he broke up with his girlfriend. They were still puzzled.

David sighed, "Jonathan Drake aka Johnny D." He paused and they knew the name, but were still confused. David reached in his bag and took out a new file. He was a drug dealer and was sex trafficking young girls. "I went to school with him. I knew he dealt drugs. I needed money when I was in law school. He paid my way. I told him I would pay him back, but he told me, no need, he had his own personal lawyer."

Olivia looked at the file and passed papers to Amanda. "His name came up in the underground gambling club. A young 15 year old was raped. I didn't know he was sex trafficking." Olivia remembered the case. She also remembered the attacker wasn't in the system. "He asked for my help and I did."

Olivia's eyes shot up, she was pissed. "You know how I feel about this and you know why. You helped a rapist?" David explained he hid the details until he did some investigation. Olivia was furious, "That's not a fucking excuse!"

They forgot Quinn was in the kitchen. "Ohhhhh mommy! You can't say that word! Remember you told me!" Amanda scooped her up and hushed her saying, "Grownup talk."

David calmed her down and gave her everything to get him. "I had to be sure. He doesn't know about you or Noah. Which is why I don't take him and only come here. I had to break up with my girlfriend so she was safe. Unfortunately I'm not. Liv, he will kill me when you deal with that file. I know it's coming."

Amanda stood there shocked. They went back and forth and in the end Olivia gave him the file. She couldn't kill Noah's father. David just took the file, said thank you, and left.
